Chapter 110 Star Wars: Don't you guys have your own jokes?

Following behind Alfred, Bruce's gaze was filled with solemnity and gravity.

"Alfred, tell me, what exactly happened here?"

"I'm sorry, young master... I'm really sorry, but I really don't know what to do." Walking ahead, Alfred sighed, his eyes filled with undisguised exhaustion and mental depletion. It was as if he had been soaking in water for hours; although it didn't seem like he needed to exert much effort, just maintaining his balance had left him completely drained.

Bruce was particularly uneasy about the listlessness in his voice.

However, it's not all bad news. At least, there's no problem with the Gotham family cemetery—that's Bruce's bottom line, and it's also Batman's bottom line.

As they walked, Bruce calmly asked, "Alfred, can I continue to trust you?"

"Of course, sir," Alfred replied. "I will always be your most loyal butler. But this time... I'm sorry, I... don't know what to do."

After hearing Alfred's words, Bruce gradually relaxed—at least Alfred hadn't betrayed him.

If Alfred betrayed him, what emotions would he feel? Anger? Despair? Sadness? Hatred? Or all of them?

While pondering, Bruce did not relax. Instead, he remotely controlled the entire Wayne Manor, from the manor above to the Batcave below, putting it into a state of war through the microcomputer in his suit.

As the mastermind of the Justice League, Bruce was confident that, in a state of war, Wayne Manor was undoubtedly the safest place in the world, bar none. Even if the entire Justice League came, they couldn't breach it from the outside. Similarly, once they entered their home turf, no matter how many tricks the enemy had up their sleeve, they wouldn't lose.

Alfred seemed oblivious to this, simply walking silently ahead of Bruce. Soon, the two arrived at the hall. Alfred then stood quietly to the side, indicating to Bruce that the answer to all the mysteries was right before him.

Following Alfred's pointing finger, Bruce saw a tall figure standing with his back to him in front of the floor-to-ceiling window in the lobby. Even without seeing his face, the sheer size of his back made Bruce involuntarily squint. The upright posture and sharp suit didn't make the man appear particularly gentle. On the contrary, he gave off the feeling of a beast, staring intently at the skyscrapers of Gotham City in the distance, his expression swirling with a complex mix of emotions—love and hate.

But upon closer reflection, it was probably more hatred than anything else, as if the hair seemed to yearn to burn everything before it to ashes...

"I am coming."

Bruce approached Thomas from behind, his voice low and suppressed, accompanied by the patter of rain outside the window:

"Who are you."

Upon hearing Bruce's voice, even though he had made all the preparations and had long anticipated this scene, Thomas still couldn't help but tremble slightly the moment he heard it.

A moment later, Thomas turned and looked at Bruce. Perhaps because of his status as a father, even though the child he had longed for was right in front of him, Thomas's face was still filled with a stiff indifference. But even so, his trembling eyes had already revealed that Thomas's heart was not as calm as it seemed.

Upon seeing Thomas's face, Bruce was slightly taken aback. A tall figure, and a familiar yet unfamiliar face came into view. His graying sideburns were neatly trimmed, and the lines of his face seemed somewhat familiar, but now possessed a coldness and hardness that didn't match his memory.

Snap! Boom!

A bolt of lightning suddenly burst from the clouds, and a violent clap of thunder briefly illuminated the somewhat gloomy hall.

Similarly, accompanied by a bolt of lightning that illuminated the entire night sky, Thomas coldly declared, "I am your father!"

Hearing Thomas's cold, hard words and seeing Thomas's familiar yet unfamiliar face, Bruce's mind seemed to go blank. His eyes filled with disbelief, and he took several steps back, staring at Thomas's face.

"No!!!"

Bruce stared intently at Thomas and growled in a low voice, "Who are you?!"

"I am your father." Thomas's voice remained cold and composed.

Seeing what was happening before him, the Third Robin, Drake, couldn't help but remark, "Why does this scene look so familiar? Have I seen it somewhere before?"

"Star Wars." Ron, standing to the side, picked up a monocular telescope, looking like a peeping tom from some magnetic world, while slurping up his cola through a straw.

"Damn it, Star Wars only has a few key references, and they're blatantly stealing these? That's outrageous!"

aside.

"No—" As he was saying this, Bruce suddenly turned around and looked at the Flash, Barry, as if remembering something. However, Barry had already looked away beforehand. Even without eye contact or conversation, Barry's guilty look still proved that Bruce's guess was correct.

Meanwhile, Ron waved to Bruce and said enthusiastically, "Do you still have the vouchers I gave you? The two that haven't expired!"

Ignoring Ron's words, Bruce abruptly turned his head and looked back at Thomas, his eyes filled with intense wariness.

"No, you're not! No matter what you say, you're not my father! You're from another universe, another Bruce's father! Not me!!"

"So what?" Thomas's expression remained indifferent to Bruce's words, his tone still cold and hard, the indifference in his words suggesting he had already anticipated Bruce's question.

"I have already visited my counterpart in this world, not long before you returned, and even the mud on my boots is still fresh."

Thomas said:

"You deeply miss your parents, and I know myself very well. So you can rest assured that I haven't done anything destructive or possessive. And I also know that there's nothing in this world that I can't let go of, except for you."

"Rest assured, Bruce, I'm just offering a white flower to my grave at this monument."

Looking at Bruce, Thomas spoke softly. Even though his words remained cold and his expression indifferent, Bruce could still clearly sense the unwavering determination hidden in Thomas's words.

Squatting in the corner, Ron pulled out some potato chips and started crunching them down. He nudged Derek and the others, who were staring in disbelief, with his elbow: "Hey, wanna have some?"

"Huh? Ah, ah! Eat, eat!"

Drake nodded hastily, though he kept saying he was eating, his eyes remained fixed on the father and son in the hall. Not only Drake, but Todd and Barbara, standing nearby, were also stunned by this dramatic scene.

"Oh my god, Grayson isn't here. He'll regret it when he finds out..." Barbara muttered to herself, feeling sorry for Grayson, the original Robin who now works in Broodhaven.

For anyone in the Bat Family, not being able to witness this scene is the greatest loss and regret of their life!

Perhaps out of trust in Barry, or perhaps because of Ron's unconscious arcane powers that would inadvertently influence those around him, despite the extremely serious moment, the people present, in their tension, began to enjoy the potato chips, jerky, and cola that Ron offered them.

"Who do you think invented Batman (chewing)?"

Holding a jerky in his hand, Todd was probably the most relaxed member of the Bat Team present. Looking at the stern Thomas and Bruce confronting him, Todd's eyes lit up. It wasn't just curiosity about other people's gossip; more importantly, through observing Thomas, Todd realized that this might be the path he wanted to take.

If things weren't entirely certain before, and it was merely Todd's conjecture, then while waiting for Bruce's arrival, and while Thomas went to visit the grave, Ron recounted the events that had transpired in the other world to them.

If Ron's words still left them with some doubts, then after receiving confirmation from the Flash, Todd didn't know what others thought, but he already had his own plans.

Upon hearing Todd's question, Ron, chewing on his jerky, agreed and said, "I can only say that the writers are really too malicious. There are so many universes, and not a single Batman has healthy parents~ Tsk tsk, so pitiful. I must find a way to fill this gap."

"Let's put aside the multiverse issue for now." Hearing this, Barbara couldn't help but retort, "But if your deceased father suddenly appears before you, and from another universe at that, wouldn't anyone find that hard to accept?"

She paused, then added, "There's even a Mrs. Clown..."

The three bats were chatting idly, while Ron nudged Barry's arm with his elbow.

"Hey, Barry, stop looking down. Can't you even get hooked on this dramatic storyline?"

"Don't do this, Ron, I feel so guilty..."

Barry covered his face and said, "Once this drama is resolved, I guarantee Bruce will definitely call me for a private meeting! A Batman meeting... just thinking about it is terrifying, like an interrogation."

"What are you afraid of? Where's your Speed Force? Just run!"

"That's true, but you still have to be able to escape."

Barry shrugged, looking helpless, and said, "I can feel myself being anchored to something. Although I can still run, I am, after all, a member of the Justice League. And I bear undeniable responsibility for what happened. I think it's necessary for me to explain things to Bruce and offer my help."

"You do have a conscience, but unfortunately I don't, so I can't offer much advice."

Ron and Barry chatted, while on the other side, Bruce, after a brief moment of disbelief, quickly regained his composure as he looked at Thomas in front of him.

Looking at Thomas, Bruce's voice returned to its usual hoarse and deep tone:

"You are Thomas Wayne from another world. But you are just Thomas Wayne. Whatever your identity is in that other world—Batman, the patriarch of the Wayne family, or a father—it has nothing to do with me."

Upon hearing this, Thomas's eyes flickered slightly. Amidst the dimness, there seemed to be a hint of approval.

"You're much more mature than those little guys."

Suddenly being called out, the group of people who were eating potato chips, jerky, and drinking soda were slightly taken aback. Then, they all shrank back, indicating that they just wanted to watch the excitement for a while.

Bruce ignored the kids' opinions for now, because there were more important things to do: find a proper solution to this frustrating and headache-inducing ethical dilemma.

"Enough with the nonsense, I can allow you to stay in my city," Bruce said coldly after taking a deep breath.

"But you should know that you are not my father, just two similar leaves on the same tree. Even if we have the same blood and have experienced similar tragedies, it is not the same crime alley... You know what I mean, and this is my biggest concession."

"Will Batman compromise?" Thomas questioned. "Or is it Bruce who's compromising?"

"Shut up, I won't tolerate you for long."

Thomas simply shook his head and said, "You can't fool me... just like you can't fool yourself."

"I know I'm not your biological father. We're just poor wretches from different worlds, yearning to be saved. Even though we share the same blood and both bear the name Wayne, I'm still not your biological father."

"But I don't care."

Thomas said coldly, "I'm going to save you. This has nothing to do with you. You can resist, go ahead and do it, because I know you will. You will defend your city, you will defend your soul. Because you are Batman!"

When Thomas got to the last word, "Battery Slow," he practically squeezed it out from between his teeth.

"You may be yearning for redemption, but I am not. I hate, I hate everything. I hate Gotham, I hate myself, I hate that alley, I hate this pathetic fate!"

"I know you're hoping I'll agree to your conditions, so you can live a peaceful and carefree life in Gotham City. And you can draw strength from it..."

"In fact... that's what I think too."

Bruce's expression didn't change at all upon hearing Thomas's words. However, his fists had already clenched silently—as Batman, he was aware of Thomas's thoughts.

Just as he had said to Thomas, Thomas responded with the same words:

"Stop being Batman."
