Chapter 101 Taking Kratos by the Edge of Atreus
Chapter 101: Taking Kratos by the Edge of Atreus
Ron and Kratos arrived at Kratos's Old House, a landmark in God of War 4, by boat.
The old house wasn't big, but it witnessed all of Kratos's time in Northern Europe.
"My mom is amazing, although my dad is strong too," Atreus whispered to Ron as they chatted on the way.
"According to my mother, when she first saw my father, he was lying on the shore covered in blood. She went to rescue him, but as soon as he regained consciousness, he immediately launched an attack..."
"Who won? It should be my mom, right? My mom said the fight ended quickly because my dad was badly injured and had to be dragged home in the end..."
As Ron listened to Atreus's story, his face was filled with curiosity.
Laufey did not appear in God of War IV, and in God of War V, he only appeared in Kratos's memories during the final battle, which strengthened Kratos's belief and made him decide to lead people to rebuild the order and civilization of the Nine Realms.
It's mentioned in the official novels, but Ron hasn't looked into it in depth. On the other hand, Kratos's past...
Ron glanced at Kratos, who was walking silently toward the house, and whispered, "Let me tell you, your dad is amazing. In the entire Greek pantheon, only a handful of gods escaped because they didn't clash with him."
"Really?"
"Of course it's true!" Ron said, meeting Atreus's curious gaze. "Among the surviving gods, there's a goddess named Aphrodite, the goddess of love and desire, who is bisexual. She challenged your father, and wow, she was ruthless, she pulled off several QTEs in a row! That girl..."
Whoosh! Click!
The Leviathan Axe flew past Ron and Atreus with a whistling sound, disappearing deep into the birch trees. Turning around, Kratos was already exasperated: "You're not allowed to corrupt Atreus!"
"What do you mean by corrupting Atreus? I think some people are just afraid to admit it!"
Ron didn't take Kratos's helplessness to heart. After all, it was Kratos's own fault for not being able to control himself back then.
Kratos's killing of the gods wasn't purely out of a lack of common sense; he did it without hesitation, even after fully understanding the calamities that their deaths would trigger.
As for Aphrodite...
Yes, Kratos gains a new artifact every time he defeats a god. Aphrodite's artifact is called "Aphrodite's Garter Stockings." It has no special effects; the only description is: "Every man desires it." Someone unfamiliar with the game might think this is some kind of foot odor forum attack.
With a helpless shake of his head, Kratos retrieved the Blades of Chaos from under the floor and gazed at the pair of blades, now covered in dust from long periods of neglect, with a complex expression on his face.
After a moment, Kratos took a deep breath and said in a deep voice, "Alright, let's go, let's get out of here."
"Um."
Ron nodded, clapped his hands, and the portal reopened. Meeting Atreus's curious gaze, Ron tilted his head and said, "Let's go, let's live somewhere else."
"Will I come back?"
Atreus asked, "And my promise to my mother isn't over yet."
Laufey, Kratos's wife, remains on Kratos's body. According to Laufey's last wishes, her ashes should be scattered on the highest mountain in the Nine Realms. With Baldr's death, Ragnarok will officially begin.
but now……
"I will come back, but not now."
Ron said, "Odin isn't so easily fooled. Let's lay low for now and come back to fulfill our agreement when we deliver the medicine to Baldr next time."
After a pause, Ron added, "As long as you can get this done before you turn eighteen, there won't be any problems."
"Before eighteen? That means... three years?"
Atreus hesitated for a moment before asking, "Ragnarok begins in three years?"
"More or less." Ron nodded. "In the legends of other worlds, Fenrir's Winter is a winter that lasts for three consecutive summers after the death of Baldr, the god of light. Although the worlds are different, the roots are the same, and there are more or less reflections of each other."
As he spoke, Ron turned to Kratos and said, "I will apply for permission for you and Atreus to return to this world at any time. Apart from the necessary learning time, many fates of this world will unfold during this process. At crucial junctures, no one can be missing."
"Okay, you can go now."
Kratos seemed to have accepted this reality and didn't say much more.
Although Atreus was filled with anticipation before passing through the portal, he was somewhat disappointed to find that what came into view was not skyscrapers, but rather a mental hospital that appeared dilapidated from every angle. Even though Atreus had no experience living in a technological society, the rust in the corners, the mold on the walls, and even the moss under the eaves all indicated that this was not the magnificent temple he had imagined.
"A little disappointed?"
Upon hearing Ron's question, Atreus scratched his head and said, "Yes, a little... Aunt Freya said you're a god too, I thought you lived in a magnificent temple."
"I've also been thinking about renovations, but I've been a bit busy lately," Ron said, shaking his head somewhat listlessly.
Ron did not believe that suffering would bring happiness, nor did he believe that only suffering could shape a soul. On the contrary, Ron believed that as long as you are willing to suffer, you can suffer endlessly.
Based on this, Ron isn't some pushover who enjoys suffering. He wouldn't stoop to such a lowly position if he could improve his living conditions. But what can he do? A certain guy who followed his adoptive father into the Base universe by chance has caused a series of disasters since his arrival. Kratos alone hasn't been dealt with yet. And the reincarnation in the Flashpoint universe, Thomas Wayne's time travel, and the connection with the universe where Barry the Flash resides are all still waiting in the queue.
Thinking this, Ron sighed, "Sigh, I suddenly miss the free life outside the system."
……
Okay, Ron knew he was talking nonsense.
It's just a matter of venting, once you've vented, it's over.
"Let's think about construction after we've finished what we're doing," Ron said. "But you, Kratos, don't forget to set up a system for Atreus."
Upon hearing this, Kratos frowned slightly, appearing somewhat reluctant.
"It's too dangerous for him to carry out the mission."
"Don't make decisions for others. Even if you refuse, you should ask Atreus's opinion first."
Atreus: "Long live Uncle Ron!"
