Elf: I Am a Farmer

Chapter 43, Second Gym Badge

Chapter 43 The First Gym Badge

Heracross's resurrection move this time was even more terrifying than when Swellow used it last time, after all, it's a Fighting-type Pokémon, and Fighting-type moves have a power boost.

As a Normal-type Pokémon, Slaking takes double damage from Fighting-type moves. In addition, the previous battle had depleted its stamina. All these factors combined resulted in Slaking losing its ability to battle, and its injuries were quite severe.

"The Gym Leader has lost all his Pokémon; Challenger Chiba Kaede wins!"

Although surprised by Chiba Kaede's formidable strength, the dojo apprentice, acting as referee, did not abandon his duty and immediately announced the verdict.

"Come back, Slave King!"

After Qianli withdrew the request for leave, she walked up to Qianye Feng.

"Xiao Feng, your strength is astonishing. Although I don't particularly like your techniques when using Swellow, I have to admit they are indeed very effective!"

Senri wasn't angry, after all, the power he had Slaking use just now had exceeded the power usually used for gym challenges.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Senri, but because your King of Suzaku is too powerful, if we don't do this, even King Yan might not last more than a few rounds!"

Chiba Kaede truthfully expressed his thoughts, admitting that his victory was not entirely honorable.

"Haha, don't worry about it. You didn't break any rules by doing this. This is the Libra Badge of our Petalburg Gym. You deserve it."

Qianli took out a badge from his pocket and handed it to Qianye Feng, then said.

"Thank you so much, Mr. Senri!"

After receiving the Libra badge, Chiba Kaede expressed his gratitude to Senri.

Afterwards, Chiba Kaede carefully examined the Libra badge and placed it in the badge box he had received from Miss Joey. This was the first badge he had obtained since arriving in this world, and it held special significance.

However, unlike Ash in the anime, he didn't strike a pose or act cool; he simply couldn't bring himself to do such a childish thing.

Rina Usui watched the entire battle between Chiba Kaede and Chiri. She originally felt that the gap between her strength and Chiba Kaede's had narrowed, and that she could catch up and defeat him if she worked hard for a while longer.

However, after watching the match, she felt that the gap in strength between herself and Chiba Kaede had not narrowed, which she found hard to accept.

"Rina, it's your turn to challenge. What are you standing there for?!"

It wasn't until Chiba Kaede walked up to Usui Rina and patted her on the shoulder that she snapped out of her shock.

"Okay, okay, I understand!"

Rina Usui, regaining her senses, said apologetically.

She was just having a hard time accepting Chiba Kaede's strength for a moment, but after this distraction, she finally came to her senses and realized that her most important task now was to complete the challenge at Petalburg Gym and obtain the badge.

Because Senri's usual Slaking series Pokémon was seriously injured in the battle with Chiba Kaede and could not immediately participate in the battle, Senri switched to a set of Pokémon for gym challenges.

The first match was between Spinny, sent by Gym Leader Senri, and Cloyster, sent by challenger Rina Usui.

"Shaky Spot, use Illusion Ray!"

"Clamys, ice spikes!"

With the commands given, the two Pokémon began their duel. The Cloyster, which withstood Spinda's Psychic Beam, emerged victorious. It then unleashed five consecutive Ice Spikes, rendering Spinda unable to battle. 👹☝ 5❾丂ℍù𝔵.ᶜỖ𝓜 🐧🍮

Chiba Kaede didn't know if Clamshell was just lucky or if its characteristic was continuous attack, but she could ask her about it after the match.

After that, the second Pokémon sent out by Qianli was a Straight Bear.

After it emerged, it used its speed to quickly approach Cloyster, and before Cloyster could react, it used Thunderbolt to render the already injured Cloyster unable to battle.

"Go, Mushroom!"

Rina Usui's second Pokémon is Breloom, which has a Fighting-type advantage.

"Hylocereus-mushi, use paralysis powder!"

Rina Usui's strategy was to first use paralyzing powder to slow down the charging bear, so that she could deal with it calmly.

This strategy worked very well. After the careless charge bear was paralyzed by the paralysis powder, the outcome of the match was already decided.

However, Senri, being a trainer, was no pushover. Before being hit by Breloom's Brick Break, Ursaring temporarily broke free from its paralysis, allowing Breloom to take a headbutt attack, which caused Breloom considerable damage.

"Go, Kangaskhan!"

Qianli's third Pokémon is Kangaskhan, a very rare and powerful Pokémon. Qianye Feng could feel its aura as soon as it appeared.

"Mushroom, Sonic Punch!"

Rina Usui did not choose to change her Pokémon, but continued to use Breloom. This time, she chose to approach Kangaskhan and then used the Fighting-type Mach Punch.

In the end, while enduring the blow, Kangaskhan grabbed Breloom with one hand and unleashed an Ice Punch with the other, rendering Breloom unable to fight with a single strike.

"Come out, forest lizard!"

Rina Usui's third Pokémon was unsurprisingly her initial Pokémon, the Forest Lizard, which accompanied her throughout her growth.

"Forest Lizard, use Leaf Blade!"

Rina Usui believed in the Forest Lizard's strength, so she chose to let the Forest Lizard continue to fight the Kangaskhan in close combat.

"Kangaroo, Stun Punch!"

Neither side gained any advantage in this exchange of attacks.

The Forest Lizard's leaf blade struck the Kangaskhan's head, but it was also sent flying by the Kangaskhan's stun punch. Fortunately, the confusion effect of the stun punch was not triggered, otherwise the Forest Lizard would have been in danger.

"Forest Lizard, Ultimate Absorption!"

As Rina Usui gave the order, the Forest Lizard activated its skill. A green light emerged from the Kangaskhan and then entered the Forest Lizard's body, and the Forest Lizard's injuries began to heal at a visible speed.

"Kangaroo, earthquake!"

Kangaskhan had a lot of its stamina absorbed by the Ultimate Absorption, and its body was quite weak, but it still managed to unleash the Earthquake move.

A terrifying earthquake wave swept towards the forest lizard, making it unsteady on its feet. After taking this hit, the forest lizard was in even worse condition than before it used Ultimate Absorption.

Now, both sides' Pokémon have exhausted a lot of energy. Chiba Kaede knows that the result of the match is coming soon, but he can't predict who will win.

"Uncle Qianli, let's have our final showdown! Forest Lizard, unleash your most powerful leaf blades!"

"Good, just what I wanted! Kangaroo, use Fire Punch!"

Both elves knew that this attack would likely decide the outcome, so they both used all their skills to charge at each other.

In the end, the forest lizard used its speed to strike the Kangaskhan's head first with its leaf blade. Whether it was intentional or not, the leaf blade struck the same spot as before, making the scar on the Kangaskhan's head even more noticeable.

This leaf blade attack caused even greater damage to Kangaskhan. The intense pain in its head caused Kangaskhan's body to veer off course. The fire fist that Kangaskhan had been gathering in its right hand, which was originally intended to attack the Forest Lizard's chest, was deflected and only grazed the Forest Lizard's shoulder.

Thus, although the Kangaskhan's Flame Punch also damaged the Forest Lizard, this damage did not render the Forest Lizard unable to fight.

Instead, the Kangaskhan's body, due to inertia, lurched forward a few more steps before collapsing to the ground, losing its ability to fight.

"The match is over! Trainer Rina Usui has won the gym challenge!"

The dojo student, acting as referee, also announced the match result in a timely manner.

"Congratulations, Rina! You've finally earned the Libra Badge through your own hard work!"

After Chisato retrieved the Kangaskhan that had lost its ability to battle into its Poké Ball, he came to Rina Usui's side and congratulated her.

"Thank you, Uncle Qianli, but I think my victory this time was somewhat lucky. If your 'Slave King' were still around, I might not have been able to win!"

Rina Usui was happy that she had passed the challenge of the Petalburg Gym, but she knew that if Senri's Slacker King were still around, she might not have been able to win.

"Rina, you don't really need to think like that. I've already told you before that as a gym leader, my responsibility is to help qualified trainers earn badges, not just to look at the outcome of the match."

Your performance has exceeded my requirements for awarding the Libra Badge, so you earned this badge through your own merit!

Chisato said to Rina Usui in a serious tone.
