Elf: I Am a Farmer

Chapter 116 The Verdant Gym Challenge (Part 2)

While surprised that Nagi's Odd-colored Swellow could unleash its Hyper Beam attack with such impunity, Chiba's Swellow certainly wouldn't be outmatched in terms of energy reserves. 🍪🐟 ❻➈丂𝐡𝐮𝓧.Ⓒ𝓸𝔪 🎄🐤

After the two Swellows had been bombarding each other with their skills for a while, the shiny Swellow showed signs of fatigue for the first time. Its energy was not unlimited, and being able to use Hyper Beam so many times in a row was its limit. Although Chiba Kaede's Swellow had also consumed a lot of energy, it could still hold on.

"Great King Swallow, use Swallow Return!"

Seeing that her own Queen Yan was already struggling to hold on, Naki began to change her battle strategy, abandoning the bombardment of powerful skills and turning to a contest of skill.

After spinning in the air, the Globe Swellow suddenly disappeared from sight. When it reappeared, it had already rammed its sharp beak into the back of the Globe Swellow Chiba. After the successful attack, it immediately moved out of the Globe Swellow Chiba's attack range to avoid being counterattacked.

"Big Wang Yan, are you alright?"

After seeing his king swallow being tossed around in the air several times, Chiba Kaede quickly asked what was wrong.

After regaining its footing, the Great Swallow called out to Chiba Kaede a few times to indicate that it was alright, then looked at the strange-colored Great Swallow with disdain.

It's like saying, "You flashy guy, you're no good. I gave you a chance, but you were useless. Your attacks aren't even enough to tickle me."

Chiba Kaede didn't understand what her Great Swellow was trying to say, but the heterochromatic Great Swellow clearly received her disdain. Instantly, veins bulged on its forehead, and its anger flared up. 🍧☠ 🐊♥

It is a unique Oddish Swellow, one in a million. When it was a Swellow, it was bullied by other Swellows. However, it later defeated the other Swellows through hard training and became their leader. Even after being captured by a trainer, it was still the most dazzling one.

The more it thought about it, the angrier it became. It used the Swallow Return skill again, wanting to teach Chiba Kaede's Swallow a lesson.

However, having already suffered a loss once, King Yan wouldn't let the same skill hit her twice. She closed her eyes and began to sense the direction of the air currents in the sky.

Suddenly, an unusual airflow disturbance appeared behind it. The giant swallow knew that the opponent's attack was coming. It flapped its right wing forcefully, and its body shifted slightly in an instant. At this moment, the shape of the heterochromatic giant swallow was revealed.

The attack, which was supposed to be a sure thing, missed its mark, leaving the Strange-Colored King Swallow stunned.

However, Chiba Kaede's Great Swallow wouldn't let this opportunity pass. It flapped its wings repeatedly, sending multiple wind blades slicing through the air and striking the Odd-colored Great Swallow.

After being hit repeatedly, the Brilliant Swellow let out a few screams and then plummeted rapidly from the sky to the ground. If it had hit the ground, the Brilliant Swellow would have been seriously injured.

Fortunately, Chiba Kaede's Swellow lifted it up from under its body just as the Oddish Swellow was about to crash to the ground, and then slowly lowered it down.

"I lost, Xiaofeng, and thank you for your help, Da Wang Yan!"

Naqi breathed a sigh of relief after seeing that her beloved Yan was alright. ☜💥 ➅9ѕⒽ𝐮𝓧.𝒸ом 🍓🐧

The battle between the two sides was too intense. By the time Swellow crashed to the ground, it was too late for her to send out other Pokémon to rescue her. Fortunately, Chiba Maple's Swellow came to her rescue, otherwise her Swellow would probably need to rest for a while.

"Match over! Challenger Chiba Kaede is victorious!"

After seeing Naki concede defeat, the referee, Sega, promptly announced the result of the match, bringing this gym challenge to a perfect close.

As the platform slowly descended, Chiba Kaede let out a long breath. The match was extremely intense, and he had devoted all his energy to it. After the match, he felt a bit mentally exhausted.

"Of all the challengers I've faced recently, aside from Ash from Pallet Town, your battles have been the most enjoyable for me."

Naki checked the injuries on the Shiny Swellow and, knowing it was alright, recalled it into its Poké Ball. Then she walked over to Chiba and said...

"Oh, when did Ash from Pallet Town have his match with you, Miss Naki?"

When Chiba Kaede saw Naki mention Ash, she pretended to be curious and asked him about it.

"It was about two weeks ago. His fighting style was very unique. He was good at using unexpected methods to counterattack and win."

After thinking for a moment, Naki said something rather strange.

In her battles with Ash, just when she was about to win, he would often turn the tide in some very strange ways. So to this day, she still has a strong impression of Ash from Pallet Town.

"Oh, I see. If I ever have the chance to meet him, I definitely want to have a Pokémon battle with him."

Chiba Kaede pretended to be very interested in Ash.

"He will also be participating in this Saiyu Tournament, so there's a good chance you'll run into him. You'll then see his fighting style."

"Oh, then I'll wait and see!"

Then, Naki handed the White Feather Badge, representing the Yuen Yu Dojo, to Chiba Kaede. The White Feather Badge was designed to resemble a silver-white wing.

Chiba Kaede accepted the white feather badge without striking any childish poses. Instead, he solemnly put the badge into the badge box and then expressed his gratitude to Naki.

"Miss Naki, as far as I know, the Hyper Beam skill requires a period of adjustment after use. Why can your Swellow keep using it indefinitely?"

Following behind Naki, Chiba Kaede finally couldn't hold back and asked his question directly.

"Well, that's a secret!"

Naki wasn't surprised by Chiba Kaede's question, but instead replied with a hint of mystery.

"Oh, I see. My apologies for my rudeness!"

Seeing that the other party had an attitude of "no comment," Chiba Kaede said with a slight apology.

"Haha, just kidding. Actually, it's no big deal to tell you. My Great Swan only managed to reduce the aftereffects of the Destruction Ray after a lot of hard training."

Actually, Swellow does have a recovery period after using its Hyper Beam attack, but it can shorten this recovery time by reducing the power of the Hyper Beam.

Naki kept everyone in suspense for a moment, then told Chiba Kaede the reason.

Of course, although Naki's explanation was very simple, Chiba Kaede did not think it was something that could be easily achieved.

First, Swellow needs to be able to perfectly control the Hyper Beam skill and be familiar with the energy flow of the entire skill. Second, it needs to have a high level of comprehension and be able to fine-tune the Hyper Beam skill. Finally, it also needs to be prepared to get injured, because if it is not careful during the skill adjustment process, the energy will go berserk and cause huge damage to Swellow.

Of course, this is just his own idea. Only after he tries it himself can he know for sure whether it is true or not, but the difficulties involved will certainly not be small.

"Miss Naki, could you please let my Swellow learn the Hyper Beam skill from your Swellow? Just the regular Hyper Beam skill would be fine?"

Chiba Kaede didn't inquire further about the specific improvement plan for the Hyper Beam, but he wanted his Great King Yan to learn this powerful skill.

"Of course, no problem. But the Hyper Beam isn't easy to master; you'd better be mentally prepared!"

Seeing that Chiba Kaede didn't press for an improvement plan for the Destruction Beam skill, Naki breathed a sigh of relief and then responded easily.

For Naki, the improved Hyper Beam skill is her exclusive secret technique. She can share the general idea behind the improvement with others, but the specific improvement plan is her personal secret.

The Hyper Beam move isn't exactly a secret; many Pokémon use it, so Nagi readily agreed to Chiba's request to learn it.
