Douluo Continent: Transmigrated as Qian Renxue's follower, forced to become a god

Chapter 444 "I Don't Want to Be Pope Anymore!"

After Qian Renxue and Shi Yueyi executed Poseidon, the sea god, they left him in the sea god's temple. Because of Poseidon's death, the sea god's temple collapsed and became a ruin.

The former Asura God remained sealed within the armor and was brought back to the Hall of Law Enforcement in the Divine Realm. Because of his previous disrespect for the heroic spirit within the Asura Sword, as well as his acts of breaking the law and violating the rules of the Divine Realm, he would be eternally subjected to being consumed by flames here.

The current head of the Law Enforcement Hall is temporarily absent, so the God of Destruction and the Goddess of Life are temporarily in charge of its management.

The Lord of the Law Enforcement Hall is the Angel God-King.

The reason Qian Renxue was not there was because she and Shi Yueyi had temporarily returned to Douluo Star to 'reflect' for a century.

"Oh, it seems Shi Yueyi has also reached a bottleneck. Why don't you condense your ninth... soul ring right here?" The Evil God King rolled his eyes. "In exchange, you give me back the Arena of Life and Death."

"No way, I'd be at a disadvantage." Shi Yueyi pouted. "Let me take something back with me."

"What are you going to bring?" The evil god-king glared at her. "It's not that I'm unwilling, but things from the divine realm falling into lower planes aren't necessarily all good things. Taking too big a step can easily lead to problems."

"Can I pick some grass to take back?" Shi Yueyi felt a little embarrassed, but glared back at him. "I don't want any of your nursery's good stuff."

"Fine!" The evil god-king hardened his heart. "Don't let life find out."

……

A new year has arrived on Douluo Star.

Wuhun City, the Pope's Palace.

Upon returning to Douluo Star, Qian Renxue temporarily suppressed her cultivation and ceased her actions. Shi Yueyi, on the other hand, had her immortal spiritual energy sealed, revealing herself with her original cultivation level of over ninety, and firmly secured her position as Pope.

She will be sixteen years old this year.

Whether they were members of the Spirit Hall or ordinary soul masters outside of it, they all expressed their admiration for this new pope, as well as a hint of... barely perceptible worry, feeling that this guy's actions and practices were really too ahead of their time.

"I don't want to be the Pope anymore!" Shi Yueyi cried out after the meeting.

"Knock knock knock—" came the knocking sound.

"Get to the point if you have something to say, otherwise let's chat." Shi Yueyi sat in the chair in the Pope's office, picked up the milk tea next to her, and took a big, boastful gulp.

"Today is also a day of peace," said Xie Yue as he entered. "Your Holiness, we have just returned from the City of Slaughter."

This guy was originally from the Golden Generation, and now he has reached a cultivation level of over sixty and has joined the Spirit Hall's Platinum Enforcement Team.

"I... I have something to report to the Pope privately," Yan Qian said haltingly, standing next to Xie Yue.

Xie Yue was taken aback for a moment, then nodded and left.

Shi Yueyi raised an eyebrow and asked, "What's wrong?"

Yan hesitated for a moment: "Your Holiness, rumors say that your martial spirit is not just your physical form, but also a... ten-tailed fox?"

"Then I need to explain properly. It's not a rumor, it's true. My original martial soul was called Jade Faced Green Hill, but it was stripped away for some special reasons, and now only the original body remains," Shi Yueyi said.

During the recent great battle, after using the Sacrifice Secret Technique, the Martial Soul she brought from another dimension was sacrificed, similar to how Qian Renxue self-destructed her Angel Godhood in the first playthrough. It will probably take a very, very long time to recover.

This time, Qian Renxue ignited the Angel God King's divine position, rather than directly disintegrating it.

Having received healing from the Fruit of Light, she recovered relatively quickly. After returning to Douluo Star, she entered deep seclusion to slowly cultivate her divine status.

"So it's a fox! There must be some similarities..." Yan said softly.

He suddenly remembered something Hu Liena had told him after she got drunk one time.

When Hu Liena first met Shi Yueyi, the two had a spiritual confrontation. Hu Liena felt as if her soul was being chased by a giant fox demon.

"What are you muttering about?" Shi Yueyi asked. "Is there something wrong with Hu Liena's cultivation?"

"No, no, Nana is fine... I think so. I wanted to ask, what should you do if a girl says she's hungry?" Yan asked.

"What kind of plot twist is this?" Shi Yueyi was stunned.

Then she realized what she meant and said, "Then you should have kindly asked her if she couldn't afford to eat?"

"?" Yan was a little confused. "Is this how you and the young master get along?"

"More or less." Shi Yueyi stretched. "Usually, the young lady would answer me, 'Yes, hurry back and do it.'"

"I don't think it will work. Here's the thing, after you returned from the starry sky last time, Nana locked herself up and wouldn't let me see her, she only texted me... So, I'm thinking of finding an opportunity to ask her out for a heart-to-heart talk," Yan said.

"You want to ask a girl out, huh..." Shi Yueyi narrowed her eyes. "I do have a way that will definitely get you a date. Here's what we'll do: it's Thursday today, fifty merit points, I'll tell you. I don't know anything about rabbit meat being on sale today."

After Xiao Wu sacrificed herself, her soul was torn apart by Bibi Dong. Half of her unconscious soul was stuffed into her original body, and then this guy became the boss of the rabbit farm. The rabbits born from this farm had more delicious meat and also had the effect of assisting cultivation. One merit point for one rabbit.

Yan hesitated for a moment: "Forty points, I guess. There are more and more geniuses joining the Spirit Hall now, and everyone is scrambling to do commissions, so it's not easy to earn merit points. I want to save them to exchange for cultivation resources."

"Fine, I won't rob you. Wuhun City is currently undergoing expansion. Go patrol there in a few days, and I'll teach you."

Yan was overjoyed: "Your Holiness the Pope is unparalleled in the world!"

Shi Yueyi explained her method to Yan, and after he left, she picked up the communicator: "Xie Yueyao? I'm telling you, there might be a serious assault incident today."

That evening, Hu Liena received a message from Yan on her soul communication device.

"You've been in seclusion, are you hungry? I'll treat you to some barbecue for a late-night snack when you come out tonight!"

Hu Liena looked at the upgraded communicator and replied, "Forget about the barbecue, I need to lose weight."

Yan was overjoyed when he saw the message on the communicator.

"People lose weight to look good, but you're not good-looking to begin with, so why are you trying to lose weight?"

Hu Liena was taken aback.

"Besides, losing weight will affect your physical fitness. If you lose any more weight, you'll probably become a stick. How can you surpass the guy you've set your target for? He'll break at the slightest touch!"

A moment later, Yan saw a reply on the communicator: "Where are you now? Don't run away."

The next morning, in the Pope's office.

Yan, with a bruised and swollen face, said, "I managed to get you to agree to a date."

Shi Yueyi raised an eyebrow: "Isn't your sister Yue amazing?"

"After being mentally manipulated, I slapped myself thirty times with both hands, but luckily Xie Yue came to save me."

"Just tell me whether you've gone on a date or not!"

Yan said sullenly, "Forget it, I'll just focus on my career and cultivation. Women will only slow down my summoning speed of the Flame Lord!"

Having learned the whole story, Xie Yue glanced at him sideways and said, "When someone says something like that, you can be sure that he has no career and no love either."

Yan said indignantly, "I wanted you to be my brother-in-law, but you insisted on being a complete idiot?"

Hearing this, Xie Yue wasn't angry: "Then do you have megalophobia?"

Shi Yueyi waved her hand: "Hu Liena is just withdrawn. You two should go and keep her company. Didn't Yan promise me you'd patrol outside Wuhun City? Perfect timing. There are some people who don't like us causing trouble outside lately. Xie Yue, why don't you ask Hu Liena to come along?"

Hu Liena didn't have much of a chance to "betray the Spirit Hall" this time, because this time she made Shi Yueyi her target for cultivation and to surpass.

A few days ago, after learning that Shi Yueyi's martial soul might also be a fox, she looked even more distressed. She locked herself in a dark room, racking her brains to figure out what went wrong and why, even though they were both foxes, the two of them were so different.

Just then, Salas walked in: "Your Holiness, our Heavenly Fighting Temple is experiencing some financial difficulties."

Salas has now been promoted because of his meritorious service in helping Shi Yueyi and Qian Renxue in the Heaven Dou Empire.

He has now been transferred to work in Wuhun City, but he is still in charge of matters related to Tiandou and will be liaising with the new Platinum Bishop.

"What's going on?" Shi Yueyi was taken aback. "The Heavenly Dou Temple is short of money?"

"It's the Yin-Yang Well of Ice and Fire in Sunset Forest... Because the spiritual energy of heaven and earth in Douluo Continent has become much denser recently, the ice and fire have also evolved. Some of the immortal herbs there have become spirits and are trying to run away all the time," Salas said dryly.

"To appease them, we spent a lot of money... asking Lou Gao to develop a soul-guided robot that can play with children."

"Soul guidance technology can already create robots?" Shi Yueyi was very pleased. "Then this money was well spent."

"The key issue is that those immortal herb spirits were too disruptive, and they were all dismantled by those robots in no time. The newly grown Eight-Cornered Mystic Ice Grass and Blazing Apricot Blossom can even control a portion of the Twin Springs of the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well."

Ye Renxin walked in: "Salas, don't bother His Holiness the Pope with such matters."

Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!

In order not to disturb His Holiness the Pope, Xie Yue and Yan secretly slipped out.

Salas looked at the old man and said, "We're out of money. If this continues, we won't be able to pay the salaries of the Heavenly Fighting Temple."

"The robot's malfunction was an accident, which just proves that our method of cultivating the spirit herbs is correct. They enjoy playing with the little robots. As long as we have hope, maybe one day they can even help us build robots," Ye Renxin said.

"So, what about the money for payroll?"

"You can borrow it first."

Salas stretched out his hand: "Senior Ye Renxin, lend me some money."

"Why are you asking me for money...?" Ye Renxin asked with a bitter face.

This old gentleman used to treat people on the mainland for free, doing good deeds and accumulating merit. So he really didn't have much savings, and the family fortune he had saved would probably have to be given to Ye Lingling as a dowry.

"I heard that the Martial Soul Merchant Guild recently partnered with the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School to launch a new loan service with low interest rates. You could try borrowing from that," Ye Renxin thought for a moment.

"No way!" Salas said righteously.

"I didn't expect Bishop Salas to be the kind of person who doesn't like overspending," Shi Yueyi thought to herself. "Maybe I should take some from my own savings..."

"That one you borrowed needs to be returned."

"?" Shi Yueyi tilted her head.

She sighed, "Alright, alright, as for Sunset Forest, I'll allocate some funds for you later... Remember to appease those spirit herbs."

Damn it, Qian Renxue is currently in seclusion at the deepest part of the spring in the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well.

Recalling her first encounter with Qian Renxue, and the moments she shared at the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well... Shi Yueyi made a tough decision and took out half of her savings, along with a tuft of grass she had plucked from the God Realm.

Yes, it was the grass she had fought hard to get back from the evil god-king.

The spiritual energy contained in a single blade of grass is comparable to that of half a celestial plant. Moreover, this grass has its own storage function, so the spiritual energy will not leak out, making it much stronger than Blue Silver Grass.

She secretly brought back some grass and gave it to the grandfathers who were worshipping the grass, as well as some of the elders, such as the snake spear and the porcupine.

The remaining portion will be the highest reward, to be bestowed in the future upon those who have made outstanding contributions to the development of the Spirit Hall.

The Douluo Continent continued to develop in an orderly manner.

A year later, the Star Luo Empire was completely defeated. The Star Luo Emperor and Empress hanged themselves after the defeat, and all the Sea Soul Masters who came ashore were wiped out.

After realizing that resistance was futile, Davis led the other officials in an unconditional surrender to the Heaven Dou Empire and the Spirit Hall. Upon hearing this news, Yu Xiaogang died suddenly in the Spirit Hall's prison; he didn't even live to see his release.

Two years later, Shi Yueyi completed her divine rank condensation and successfully advanced to level 100.

The eternal god, a god-king, who is in charge of thunder, night, the moon (lunar phases), and water.

The angel god is in charge of holy light, fire, and the sun.

Ten years later, the old emperor of the Heaven Dou Empire, Xue Ye, passed away, and his stand-in, Xue Qinghe, ascended the throne to become the new emperor of the Heaven Dou Empire.

Subsequently, he and Pope Shi Yueyi of the Spirit Hall jointly issued a statement announcing the abolition of the hereditary monarchy and the reorganization of the entire Douluo Continent into a parliamentary system.

This is not difficult for the Spirit Hall, because in a sense, the Spirit Hall is similar to a parliament, and all major decisions are made at the Elders' Meeting.

The only empire on the continent today is also willing to accept this reorganization.

Thus, the Douluo Continent was unified.

After the situation stabilized, Shi Yueyi decided to announce a new cultivation method that combined the Mysterious Heaven Skill and the Universal Meditation Method, so that every human on the Douluo Continent could cultivate soul power.

With the promotion of the Spirit Gathering and Spirit Ascension techniques, human Soul Masters no longer need to hunt Soul Beasts to obtain Soul Rings.

Unlike the original story, Spirit Gathering does not require a soul spirit. Instead, it is like a divinely bestowed soul ring, where the soul master obtains a soul skill that best matches their martial soul through their own enlightenment.

Twenty years later, all the enshrined members of the Spirit Hall received their own divine positions, as did some of the elders.

In the offerings, Azure Phoenix Douluo obtained the position of Wind God, Lion Douluo became Lion God, and Light Feather Douluo was chosen by the God of Light...

Among the elders, Chrysanthemum Douluo became the Flower God, while Ghost Douluo took over the authority of a god named Charon. Before that, he accepted Shi Yueyi's invitation and became the first sect master of the Body Sect in this era.

and many more.

……

The eye of ice and fire, below the Yin Spring.

Shi Yueyi gently raised her hand, tightly holding a soul imprint, which was Tang San's soul essence.

"Miss, we should get going," she said softly.

Qian Renxue, located in Yangquan, opened her eyes and looked at Shi Yueyi: "Going to another dimension?"

"Yes, we agreed to take a time trip after everything is over, right? I remember that."

"Is this the universe you used to be in?" Qian Renxue looked up at the space above the Yin-Yang Well of Ice and Fire. "How do we get there?"

Shi Yueyi gently swam to Qian Renxue's side and said, "The guy who sent me back was really wicked; he didn't tell me the way back. But fortunately, as God-Kings, our understanding of spacetime isn't bad either."

"The so-called 'illusion of time,' that past, present, and future are not arranged in a sequential order, but may exist simultaneously," Qian Renxue said. "I thought more about this concept when I was reshaping the divine position."

This means that their time travel will be like teleportation.

"After that, we'll have to fight that so-called 'Great God Circle' from countless years in the future, right?" Qian Renxue asked.

"Yes." Shi Yueyi nodded. "But you don't need to worry. This time, it won't just be our Spirit Hall's god-level elders or deities, but also helpers from my era."

"Your friends ten thousand years from now?" Qian Renxue asked with great interest.

"Yes, let's gather the power of both eras and launch an attack on the true, final cause and effect!" Shi Yueyi said with a wave of her jade hand, exuding a majestic aura.
