Douluo Continent, Huo Yuhao who returned from Sekiro

Chapter 301 A cat that catches mice is a good cat (daily 10,000 words)

This auction house seems to have a poor eye for quality. Even the Soul-Devouring Blade was one of their unsold inventory items that Huo Yuhao managed to snag at a bargain price.

Turning around, Wang Yan faced the crowd: "Although you didn't see the other academies' matches, I must tell you that this year's All-Continent Advanced Soul Master Academy Battle Tournament is very different from the past."

"The difference is that there are very few pure Soul Master academies now. All academies are developing in the direction of combining Soul Master instructors and Soul Masters."

"Except for...our former college."

At this point, Wang Yan gave Huo Yuhao a deep look. If Huo Yuhao hadn't forced everyone to make changes, this day would probably have come even later.

"Some colleges do it this way, but many more colleges take a more time-saving, labor-saving, and clever approach."

"The simplest way is to work hard to train the soul masters in our academy, and then buy soul tools for them to use. As long as they know how to operate them, that's enough."

"Even if their operation of soul tools is not as refined as that of soul masters, it can still enhance their combat power. Pure soul masters are becoming increasingly rare these days."

"Putting everything else aside, just consider the invincible shield. Without it, everyone knows how many casualties the inner court would have suffered when facing the Grim Reaper last time, right?"

Everyone, including Chen Zifeng and Gongyang Mo from the inner courtyard, subconsciously swallowed. The power of the Death Messenger was truly imprinted in everyone's mind.

Despite being just a Soul King, he single-handedly overpowered Dai Yueheng, a Soul Emperor amplified by Gongyang Mo, as well as several Soul Kings from Shrek Academy's inner court.

They weren't like those mediocre people outside; they were all experts who could easily overpower other Soul Masters of the same level. But even so, they were still beaten senseless by a Death Messenger.

"This situation is almost universal in this competition, with almost every participating student from a Soul Master Academy equipped with a Soul Guidance Device."

"Especially some powerful academies have also established their own Soul Guidance Departments. Not only do they equip their teams with Soul Guidance Masters, but they also custom-make Soul Guidance Devices for other Soul Master students, greatly enhancing their strength."

"That fierce Death Messenger died under the salvo of your heavy soul-guided explosive ray guns. You should have a basic understanding of the power of soul-guided devices."

"As more and more Soul Masters discovered that using Soul Tools could lead to better results, their thinking had already been gradually changing, and it all came together during this competition."

Upon hearing this, Xu Sanshi's expression turned grim: "Although soul tools are indeed powerful, they have forgotten the glory of soul masters. Shouldn't our battles be purely about skill? The abilities we cultivate ourselves are the most reliable and trustworthy. Soul tools are, after all, external objects."

"Using soul tools to deal with evil soul masters is one thing, but why would we need external tools for the Continental Advanced Soul Master Tournament?"

Huo Yuhao simply rolled his eyes at this. You, Xu Sanshi, are so great. You, Xu Sanshi, are so arrogant. Even though your martial soul hasn't fully awakened, it's still a genuine high-level martial soul, the Xuanming Turtle. After awakening, it can directly leap to the ranks of top-level martial souls. Try saying that again if you change your martial soul to a green-haired turtle.

Besides, aren't spirit rings and spirit bones external possessions?

He removed all his spirit rings and spirit bones, yet he could still defeat a Soul Venerable or Soul Master based solely on his physical abilities. Xu Sanshi, try removing all your spirit rings and see what happens.

Wang Yan shook his head: "San Shi's idea is almost the same as that of most of the teachers and higher-ups in our academy. That's why our Soul Guidance Department has never been able to develop."

"However, we must consider this issue. For example, if the price of the Invincible Shield is reduced to one-tenth of its original price, how will you win against opponents of the same level?"

Wang Yan's words immediately stunned everyone. Few people would be willing to use an invincible shield worth tens of thousands of yuan in the All-Continent Advanced Soul Master Competition, but what about an invincible shield worth ten thousand yuan?

Even the lowest level five invincible shield can withstand damage from a Soul Douluo level for a full three seconds. Even if Huo Yuhao goes all out, he might not be able to break through such a defense. How can they fight against such an enemy?

If the enemy activates an invincible shield and uses a ray gun to try and trade blows with them, the enemy might not even get hurt, but how would they respond?

After all, that's exactly what they did, wasn't it? The Grim Reaper's ultimate trump card, Corpse Explosion, was easily neutralized by the Invincible Shield and was ultimately blasted into a charred mess by more than a dozen ray guns. Didn't the Grim Reaper feel aggrieved?

"Yuhao has already equipped you with the most basic soul tools. The reason I brought you here is that I hope you can choose some more soul tools that will be helpful to you."

"So, I brought you here. There's a soul tool auction taking place in this auction house today."

"Of course, I won't force you, nor can I force you. If anyone is unwilling, they can go back to the hotel to rest now. After all, this isn't about hunting evil soul masters, and not using soul tools doesn't violate the academy's rules."

After saying this, Wang Yan's eyes showed a slight unease, but even so, Wang Yan still hoped that the academy could accelerate the transition to soul tools.

"I'll go, Teacher Wang Yan. I once told Xiao Ya that the development of soul tools is an unstoppable inevitability. Sticking to the old ways will only lead to self-destruction, which is also the reason for the decline of the Tang Sect. I need to learn to accept soul tools."

Beibei seemed to have figured something out and was the first to step forward.

Aside from Beibei, Jiang Nannan was the quickest to accept the offer because Wang Yan guaranteed that the Inner Court would help solve all the funding problems. In this way, the biggest obstacle in front of Jiang Nannan was gone.

Gongyang Mo nodded, indicating his willingness to accept the soul tool. If he could master the use of the long-range soul tool cannon on the night he fought the Grim Reaper, he wouldn't have been limited to just hiding in the distance and providing buffs to everyone.

Xu Sanshi still frowned: "With our current abilities, it's impossible to become a Soul Master again. Wouldn't it be putting the cart before the horse to dedicate extra energy to researching the creation of Soul Tools?"

"If we can only apply what we've learned, but we're never as skilled as Soul Masters, how can we possibly compete with them?"

Upon hearing this, Wang Dong rolled his eyes: "Yuhao, you don't need to invite Brother Xu next time you eat."

"No!"

Xu Sanshi panicked immediately; this wouldn't do.
