Douluo Continent, Huo Yuhao who returned from Sekiro

Chapter 195 The Evil Ghost in the Smoke (Daily Written Version)

Crouching by the campfire, Huo Yuhao curled himself into a ball, trying to recover his depleted mental energy as much as possible. The previous events were just appetizers; the real main event was the pursuit that followed.

The warmth of the campfire entered Huo Yuhao's body, making him feel like he was gradually coming back to life. People who have lost a lot of physical strength are most afraid of hypothermia. If they are not careful, they may experience stiff hands, abdominal pain, and paleness, or even stagger while walking, mental confusion, or incoherent speech.

Huo Yuhao didn't know what the final state of hypothermia would be, but it would most likely be death. Huo Yuhao had once suffered from hypothermia and started talking to himself incessantly, eventually falling off a cliff and losing his immortality. Huo Yuhao didn't want to experience hypothermia again.

At this moment, the guards finally caught up with Huo Yuhao. The night sky was not bright tonight. Dark clouds covered the stars and the moon, so that as far as the eye could see from the dense forest, it was pitch black and one could not see their own hand in front of their face.

If Huo Yuhao hadn't been evading pursuit, and if these guards hadn't been determined to kill him, in any other situation, no Soul Master of sound intelligence would engage in a chase in the pitch-black Soul Beast Forest, especially in the infamous Star Dou Great Forest.

But it was precisely because of this environment that the bonfire lit by Huo Yuhao was so conspicuous that the guards saw it almost immediately after crossing a small hill.

The fourth brother made a gesture, signaling everyone not to alert the enemy, and then quietly made his way towards Huo Yuhao's location.

To avoid making any noise, the fourth brother and the others deliberately formed a long line and followed the path Huo Yuhao had taken. Having chased Huo Yuhao for so long, they had gained some experience, such as following Huo Yuhao's footprints, which was the least strenuous method!

This is why Huo Yuhao, despite running for more than two hours with his head down, still didn't manage to create much of a distance between himself and his opponent.

In this long, snake-like squad, the leading Soul Master was an agility-type Soul Master. The reason he stood at the front of the squad was because of his Martial Soul, the Lynx.

When the martial spirit is possessed, the thick and soft pads under the opponent's feet can provide a great cushioning effect, reducing the vibration generated when walking.

Furthermore, with his martial spirit attached to him, the claws at the tips of his toes can extend and retract freely. When walking, he can retract the claws into his fleshy pads, further reducing direct contact with the ground. He is silent and stealthy, making him a natural-born killer!

But the next moment, the guard at the front suddenly felt as if he had stepped on something, and a slight 'click' sound came from under his foot.

Immediately afterwards, a sharp explosion shattered the silence, and a fireball erupted from beneath the feet of the Lynx Martial Soul's guards, instantly spreading into a sea of fire.

His body was violently thrown into the air by the force of the explosion, and then crashed heavily to the ground. The surrounding guards were stunned by the sudden explosion and lost their ability to judge for a moment.

The guard's body was twisted and contorted as he crashed to the ground, revealing charred skin and mangled internal organs. A look of terror still lingered on his face, as if he were still trying to escape this deadly trap at his last moment.

The two guards following behind were also blown away by the force of the trap's explosion. One of them was knocked unconscious on the spot, while the other guard got up and shouted something in fear. He had obviously been deafened by the explosion and could not hear anything.

As if a bugle call to charge had been sounded, one after another, soul-guided smoke bombs, inscribed with the first-level 'activation' soul-guided core array for detonation, flew out from the campfire and enveloped the entire hillside.

High ground against low ground – this was the battlefield Huo Yuhao chose for himself. In this life-or-death situation, every tiny advantage had to be fully utilized.

One by one, spirit rings fell from the bodies of the guards, but this light was meaningless to them who were shrouded in smoke.

"Buzz!"

A loud buzzing sound rang out, and a dazzling red ray pierced through the thick smoke. The weapon that shot out of the smoke was the heavy soul-guided blast energy ray gun that Huo Yuhao had used in the final test of the freshman reaction ability. However, the heavy soul-guided blast energy ray gun in Huo Yuhao's hand was no longer level one, but level three.

A non-agility-based Soul Master fell to the ground almost instantly. The thick smoke obscured their vision but had no effect on Huo Yuhao's mental detection. At this moment, Huo Yuhao was like a demon hidden in the mist, taking a life with each appearance!

A tremendous roar resounded, and several soul skills followed the direction from which the beam of light shot towards the source of the sound, but they only stirred up a cloud of dust in vain. How could Huo Yuhao stay in place and give them a chance to retaliate!

The Level 3 Heavy Soul-Guided Explosive Ray Gun has an astonishing effective firing range of one thousand meters, and within this range, there is no need to consider damage attenuation and bullet drop!

"Buzz!"

Another loud buzzing sound rang out. This time, Huo Yuhao did not choose to continue shooting at the enemy's eyes, but instead opted for the abdomen, which was easier to aim at.

"ah!!!"

A violent scream rang out, and a guard fell heavily to the ground with a charred, smoking wound on his abdomen, resembling a burnt tree trunk.

The skin around the wound instantly lost its life, becoming brittle and brittle. A strong stench of blood filled the air, making one feel nauseous.

The wounded guard's eyes widened in shock, his face filled with terror and pain. He clutched his abdomen, trying to stop the bleeding, but the wound was too large, and blood continued to flow from between his fingers, staining his palms and the ground red.

His breathing became rapid and shallow, each breath accompanied by excruciating pain. His face gradually turned pale, and cold sweat poured down his dust-covered cheeks. His body trembled incessantly, as if struggling against the unbearable agony.

As Huo Yuhao fired another shot, the guards who had been huddled together realized how foolish it was to wait for the smoke to dissipate. They began to scatter and run, trying to escape the smoke's reach and launch a counterattack.

But the other party's subconscious and correct reaction was exactly what Huo Yuhao wanted.

"Buzz! Buzz!"

The heavy soul-guided blast energy ray gun in Huo Yuhao's hand emitted two more buzzing sounds. The continuous firing had caused the muzzle to become extremely hot, and the muzzle was even red-hot.

However, Huo Yuhao had already achieved his goal. The next two shots only caused damage, not a direct kill, because those soul masters had obediently chosen to possess their martial souls. Even though the level three heavy soul-guided explosive energy ray gun hit their abdomens, it did not kill them directly.

This is exactly what Huo Yuhao needs. One wounded soldier can at least hold off one uninjured soldier so that they can be taken care of. It's more worthwhile than killing one person outright!
