Douluo Continent, Huo Yuhao who returned from Sekiro

Chapter 156 Extortion of Funds (10,000 words per day)

If the most troublesome enemy you'll be facing in the near future is a water-attribute soul master, then buy a fire-attribute soul bone in advance and insert it. This will not only greatly reduce the cost of upgrading your weapon, but also increase your flexibility when dealing with various enemies.

"You really are a product of Ning Ge's training."

Qian Duoduo gave Huo Yuhao a resentful look, while Ning Ge scratched his head sheepishly, realizing what Qian Duoduo meant.

The experiment he left unfinished in Experiment Zone No. 8 was a real money-devouring beast. Huo Yuhao is even more outrageous. He brought his own research topic into the group, and it was another money-devouring beast-level topic right from the start. Using soul bones for research experiments, apart from Shrek Academy, no other place could really start this kind of research.

"Your research topic"

A hint of pain flashed in Qian Duoduo's eyes. After thinking it over, he said with a slight tremor at the corner of his mouth, "In the early stages, the school will only approve a maximum of 500,000 gold soul coins for your research funding. You can buy a few hundred-year-old soul bones and conduct your own research. Come back to me for funding when you make progress."

"Thank you, teacher, hehe," Huo Yuhao couldn't help but feel a little surprised, but he quickly realized something: "Hey, us?"

Huo Yuhao looked at Ning Ge, who then twisted his wrist: "The teacher restored my student status and also gave me a teaching assistant position. My main task is to provide you with technical support. After all, our school has many people researching the three major soul guidance paths, but few researching technical paths."

Congratulations, Brother Ning!

Hearing Ning Ge say this, Huo Yuhao couldn't help but feel happy for him. If it weren't for the accident two years ago, he should be in the same grade as Ma Xiaotao in the inner academy now.

As for Ning Ge's statement that there are few researchers on the technical path, Huo Yuhao understands. To reiterate, the "wrist joint manufacturing of soul power rheology damper" technology can greatly improve the user experience of high-level soul tools such as melee-gauntlets, but it cannot increase your soul master level.

The ability to inscribe a sufficiently detailed soul guidance core array and to create high-level soul guidance devices are what truly determine your soul guidance master level. As for those minor optimizations and techniques to increase the utilization rate of soul guidance arrays, it's not that they're unimportant, but rather that there's simply not enough time to develop them all.

Shrek Academy's Soul Guidance Department has a heavy burden, many tasks, and a shortage of talent. Every year, they have to compete with the Martial Soul Department for students. Although what the students learn is indeed the most advanced technology among the three empires, the gap with Sun Moon Academy is still unfathomable.

This is why Qian Duoduo, despite feeling the pinch, was still willing to approve funds and projects for Huo Yuhao. Often, when you're stuck in a bottleneck, you can't blame yourself. This bottleneck isn't something that can be overcome with time; what you lack is a flash of inspiration.

Huo Yuhao has plans to research new topics, so let him do it. Let's first arouse his research interest. There's a saying that goes, "It's easy to reap rich rewards when you cultivate in uncharted territory, and it's easy to reap rich rewards when you cultivate in places where multiple fields intersect."

Huo Yuhao took on the task himself, so Qian Duoduo naturally had to support him financially. After all, if Huo Yuhao only focused on one field, he would easily hit a bottleneck. But if he did research in multiple fields, he might be able to draw inspiration from other places, which would be the most precious gift for soul guide scholars.

Although Qian Duoduo hasn't assigned Huo Yuhao any tasks yet, Huo Yuhao already has a research project on hand. In the near future, he might also take on a research project left by Ning Ge in the No. 8 test area. With these two projects in place, Huo Yuhao will inevitably seize the time to improve his Soul Master level.

After all, many technologies are strongly correlated with the level of a Soul Master. If you can't even make the Soul Core needed to use a certain technology, what's the point of talking about that technology?

"Alright, Yuhao, I didn't call you here just so you could swindle research funding from me. I've heard that your second spirit's ten-year spirit ring is quite extraordinary. Teacher Fanyu and I want to see how your skill's effects would be applied to a ranged spirit tool. Using it only in close combat would be a waste of your spirit skill."

Qian Duoduo naturally learned about Huo Yuhao's second martial soul from Teacher Wang Yan. After experiencing the effect of Huo Yuhao's soul skill, Wang Yan immediately realized the enormous role this soul skill played in soul tools.

"Teacher, you're wronging me."

Huo Yuhao scratched his head: "Brother Ning and I have tried the effect of this soul skill with a remote soul tool many times before, but soul tools are not allowed to be used during the freshman competition, so you didn't see the effect of my soul skill with a remote soul tool."

"Oh? You've already tried it? How were the results?"

Fan Yu looked over with some curiosity.

Ning Ge said, "Teacher Fan Yu, as the saying goes, seeing is believing. Let Yu Hao cooperate with your experiment and experience it for himself. I can only tell you that Yu Hao's soul skill is amazing. So amazing that you probably won't believe that the effect of this soul skill can be so excellent until the test results come out."

Ning Ge's words indeed piqued the curiosity of Qian Duoduo and Fan Yu. Qian Duoduo clapped his hands and said, "Alright, in that case, Cai Tou, you and your junior brother go to the test area and try it out. Teacher Fan Yu and I want to see if Yu Hao's soul skill is really that strange."

The two arrived at the edge of the testing ground. He Caitou patted his dark belt at his waist, and with a flash of light, something very strange to Huo Yuhao appeared in his hand.

It was a black metal tube about 1.5 meters long, with a cross-sectional diameter of about 15 centimeters, and the end was thicker. It was engraved with many strange patterns.

He Caitou skillfully held it in his hand, pressed the back of the metal tube twice with his right hand, and a cap popped out, revealing a notch about 20 centimeters long and 10 centimeters wide.

He quickly slapped his waist with his left hand, and a shuttle-shaped piece of metal appeared in his hand.

He carefully placed the spindle-shaped metal tube into the notch exposed by opening the cap, then closed the cap. With a flick of his right hand, the metal tube rested on his broad shoulder.

"Senior brother, are we testing the soul tools right from the start?"

Huo Yuhao was a little stunned. Wasn't it just a matter of testing the effects of mental detection and remote soul tools?

"Junior brother, you have to consider the actual value of our research. If it's just about testing remote soul tools, would Dean Qian and my teacher need to go to such lengths?"

He Caitou smiled憨厚ly.
