Chapter 64 The Blade's Edge Ablaze in the Lair

An hour later.

After the bodies in the hallway and stairwell were packed up and taken away, George shook hands with Locke and left the apartment.

Upon receiving the message, the Aegis logistics staff who came to help repair the door have already fixed it.

Locke and Natasha watched George's police car and the SHIELD support staff drive away before turning back into their apartment.

"You've been exposed."

"ah."

"There was a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent just now; he's one of Nick Fury's men."

After Natasha closed the door, she said this to Locke with a serious expression.

Locke frowned, recalling the three SHIELD agents who had just arrived, who didn't seem to have any special skills.

"Who?"

"The one with the dark skin."

"..."

"Most of the dark-skinned people are Nick Fury's men."

Natasha looked at Locke, who remained silent, and explained, "It was only after Nick Fury took office that the department started recruiting Black agents."

Locke almost laughed when he heard that.

He thought of the Balat people.

It is said that once a Barat person enters a company and gains power, their population will increase rapidly over a period of time.

Natasha looked at Locke's expression: "You don't believe me?"

Locke snapped out of his reverie and shook his head. "No, I'm just curious, doesn't the Security Council and Maria Hill have any objections to Nick Fury doing this?"

Natasha shrugged.

"Of course I have an opinion, but Nick Fury was recommended by former director Alexander Pierce, and now Alexander Pierce is a federal council member."

"All right."

Locke smiled, walked over to the bar, and poured himself a bourbon.

Natasha blinked. "Aren't you worried?"

Locke looked at Natasha while holding his wine glass.

"What are you worried about?"

"You've been exposed."

"So what?"

Locke scoffed: "This was originally a scheme orchestrated by the Sentinel Special Operations Bureau and Commander Maria Hill. It was an open conspiracy; he wouldn't dare assassinate me."

He's not the same person he was two months ago.

Two months ago, Locke might have kept a low profile.

But now?

Black Braised Egg, try assassinating one of them if you dare.

Locke would let him try and die!

Natasha saw the fleeting domineering look on Locke's face and immediately gave him a thumbs up.

"Domineering."

"Thanks."

Locke smiled and accepted Natasha's praise.

Natasha sat down opposite Locke, then raised an eyebrow, remembering the phone call from earlier, and looked at Locke curiously: "By the way, who called just now?"

Locke's right hand, which was gripping the wine glass, paused abruptly.

I forgot about it.

"Blade has been attacked."

"...Huh? When?"

"Just now."

Locke put down his wine glass, grabbed the coat he had just taken off, and walked toward the door.

Natasha snapped out of her daze and quickly followed.

An hour later.

Locke and Natasha sat in the car, gazing intently at the machine repair warehouse that was burning fiercely in the darkness not far away, and the New York Fire Department firefighters who were struggling to put out the fire.

"Hiss, is Blade dead?"

"No, satellite footage shows that Blade took advantage of the fire to leave the warehouse with one other person."

Locke shook his head.

Because if Blood God is to be revived, Blade cannot die.

Unless Quinn is lying.

However, this possibility can be ruled out.

Aside from the series of extraordinary points rewards that just started ringing out, Locke did not receive any extraordinary points rewards from Quinn.

Furthermore, it's unlikely that Quinn would know how to unteam up with him.

Locke thought to himself.

after awhile.

Thanks to the firefighters' strenuous efforts, the fire was gradually brought under control, and after a while, it was basically extinguished.

Seeing this, Locke called out to Natasha, who was sitting in the passenger seat.

"Let's go take a look."

"it is good."

The two got out of the car, with Locke walking in front. When a firefighter tried to stop him, Locke simply used his Secret Service credentials to clear a path.

"SSS!"

"..."

Locke led Natasha through the cordon without hindrance, and then they saw the car that had been burned to a shell at the warehouse entrance.

"That's Blade's car, isn't it?"

"Um."

Locke glanced over, nodded, and then saw two firefighters carrying a charred body out of the warehouse.

Although the body was charred, its general outline could still be discerned.

It's not a blade.

"Abraham Whistler." Locke recognized the body's owner from its charred state.

Natasha frowned: "Blade's adoptive father?"

Locke nodded: "Probably."

The fire chief, who had come out of the warehouse, saw Locke and Natasha and walked up to them.

"Who are you...?"

"SSS".

Locke showed his identification again, then looked at the charred warehouse: "Is this all the body we found?"

Although the fire chief was somewhat curious as to why the Sentinel Special Operations Bureau was here, he still replied, "Yes, we've only found this one body so far. As for whether there are any more inside, we can only wait until dawn to go in and search. Going in now would be too dangerous."

Locke thanked her, then said to Natasha, "Let's go."

"Where to?"

"Get in the car first, then we'll talk."

After Locke brought Natasha back to the car, he took out a communicator, gave one to Natasha, and then contacted Debbie, whom he had just pulled out of bed by remote calling.

"Debbie, have you found her?"

"Still looking."

In the Sentinel Command and Control Center, Debbie, wearing a bunny pajama, yawned and stared at the large screen with her big eyes: "After Blade and his companion left the warehouse, the satellite imagery was interfered with, so we can only search through surveillance cameras. But Blade keeps choosing back roads without cameras. I'm trying my best."

"Two people, who is the third person?"

“Eh…”

Hearing Natasha's voice, Debbie's drowsiness vanished. She blinked, and when she didn't hear Locke's attempt to stop her, she opened her mouth and said, "Vanessa."

Natasha glanced at Locke beside her: "That female doctor who was bitten by a vampire?"

Locke nodded.

"Debbie, have you found the cause of the satellite image interference?"

"The technical department is investigating."

"Notify me immediately if you have any news."

"receive."

Locke took out the communicator and tossed it aside.

Natasha also took off her communicator and asked, somewhat puzzled, "Why did Blade take this female doctor with him instead of his adoptive father, Whistler?"

Locke thought of the wounds he had just seen on the charred corpse.

"It's probably too late to take it with me."

"What do we do now?"

"Let's go back to the station first."

As Locke spoke, he restarted the car, started it, and drove away from where he stood.
