The Extraordinary Life of a Certain American Comic...

Chapter 34: Finished work, time for a drink

Blade was a little confused.

Although his face was swollen like fermented dough and his eyes were almost closed like two eggs, he still tried his best to open them wide, looking at the pile of grayish-white ashes that looked like flour left on the ground.

and also……

Those two gleaming golden fangs seemed to blend perfectly with the ashes, and there was also the silver longsword right next to the ashes.

Fangs and longswords?

A vampire and me?

Wait a moment.

"This is……"

"Deacon?"

Blade Runner gasped as he watched an SWAT officer pull the two fangs from the ashes and hand them to Debbie, while another SWAT officer bent down to pick up the fallen longsword. He quickly called out, "Wait, don't pick them up."

Upon hearing this, the emergency response special police officer paused and looked at the Blade Warrior.

Blade didn't speak, but staggered over, picked up his longsword from the ground, glanced at the suspicious emergency response SWAT officer beside him, and without saying a word, turned a switch on his hand.

Clang!

Two blood drain grooves instantly popped out from both sides of the longsword hilt.

If a stranger were to wield this longsword, their wrist would be severed instantly by the two blood-draining grooves.

When the emergency response SWAT officer saw this scene, the image of his own wrist being cut off flashed through his mind. He couldn't help but gasp, and then looked at the blade with a hint of gratitude.

"Thanks."

If his wrist were severed, even if it could be reattached at the hospital, he wouldn't be able to do his current job.

The emergency SWAT officer doesn't particularly like his current job, but if he didn't do it, he simply couldn't afford the monthly alimony payments to his two ex-wives.

If he cannot afford alimony, he will have to declare bankruptcy. After bankruptcy, his house will be repossessed. If he wants to find another job, he will need a fixed place to live, but he cannot afford alimony.

and so……

Blade's timely warning saved him from becoming a homeless person to some extent.

Blade didn't speak, but simply flicked his right hand to deactivate the mechanism.

Locke's complexion had improved somewhat. He walked over, looked at the two vampire fangs in the evidence bag in Debbie's hand, and then looked at Blade: "Is it Dickon?"

Blade looked at the clumps of ashes on the ground: "His presence is definitely there."

Locke nodded.

"Thanks."

"..."

Blade was slightly taken aback, then looked at Locke: "Thank me for what?"

He still doesn't understand what happened.

When he passed out, all he remembered was the arrival of the Sentinel Special Service. When he woke up again, this was the scene before him.

Locke, seeing the confusion on Blade's face, subtly revealed a hint of suspicion: "Didn't you kill Deacon?"

Blade's eyes widened: "What? I thought you guys did it, didn't you?"

Locke and Brown exchanged a glance.

Debbie looked at Blade and said, "When we got here, it was already like this. Boss, Brown, and all our men were unconscious. You were the only one in the hangar."

Upon hearing this, Blade looked down at the longsword in his hand, then at the pile of ashes that Dickon had turned into on the ground, his face filled with confusion.

Locke, Brown, and the others were found unconscious outside.

I'm all alone inside.

Is it...

Did I really kill him?

Blade thought to himself, and couldn't help but blink his swollen, egg-like eyes.

Just then.

The sirens of ambulances could be heard outside.

Locke smiled inwardly as he watched Blade fall into self-doubt, then said to Blade with concern, "Never mind, as long as the result is good, go to the hospital for treatment first."

Blade snapped out of his daze, looked at Locke, and then shook his head.

"I'm not going to the hospital."

"What?"

Locke frowned, looking at Blade: "But your outfit..."

As he spoke, he seemed to remember something and quickly fell silent.

Locke paused for a moment, then looked back at Blade.

"Really not going to the hospital?"

"Need not."

Blade shook his head, put the longsword behind him again, and then walked unsteadily to the other side, picked up another longsword and the sunglasses that Dickon had previously crushed, put them back on, and then walked silently out of the hangar.

Debbie looked at Locke: "Boss..."

Locke turned his gaze from Blade's retreating figure to Debbie, and shook his head: "Never mind."

Blade didn't want to go to the hospital, and he didn't intend to force him to.

After all, it's someone else's life.

You are the master of your own destiny.

soon.

Just as Blade was out of sight of the abandoned hangar, an ambulance came into view.

Seeing this, Debbie said to Locke, "Boss, should I take you to the hospital for a checkup?"

Locke waved his hand and pointed to a few sentries and special police officers who looked somewhat dazed not far away, saying, "I'm fine, take them over first."

The sentinels and special police officers at the front looked somewhat worried to Locke; perhaps Deacon's screaming shockwave had stunned them.

Debbie frowned as she listened to Locke's answer.

"Boss..."

"It's really nothing. Once this is sorted out, I'll head back."

Locke interrupted Debbie, patted her on the shoulder, and then said to Brown, who seemed unharmed, "Finished working overtime? Want to find a place for a drink?"

"OK."

"Walk."

Locke smiled, then said to Debbie, "I'll leave this to you."

Debbie opened her mouth, wanting to say, "Boss, you should go to the hospital now, not to the bar," but thinking that Brown would go with her, and any aftereffects would be noticed immediately, she simply nodded: "Okay, boss."

Locke grunted in agreement, took off his suit jacket, and walked out of the abandoned hangar.

After saying a few words to his team members, and watching the team members, who still looked somewhat dazed, get into the ambulance, Brown jogged a few steps to catch up with Locke, who was almost out of the hangar.

"Where are we going?"

"puzzle?"

"Okay, speaking of which, it's been more than a month since I last went."

"Um."

For the past month, he and Brown have been busy hacking and slashing vampires with a roster in hand, and it's been a long time since they've gone to a bar together for a few drinks after get off work.

Puzzle Bar was a bar that he and Brown frequented.

He was not far from the Sentinel & Special Service building, on 75th Street.

As for why the bar is named "puzzle".

He also asked the bar owner, Carl McLaren.

Asking was essentially the same as not asking at all.

It's a puzzle!

Because it's a mystery.
