The Extraordinary Life of a Certain American Comic...

Chapter 16 The Widow Knocks on the Door

After half an hour.

Brown drove his Ford SUV to the entrance of the apartment building where Locke lived.

Locke opened the car door and said goodbye to Brown, who had rolled down the window: "Goodnight, Brown."

Brown shook his head: "I'll go straight back to the station, export the data, and wait for you to come over first thing tomorrow morning so we can start taking action."

Locke thought for a moment and nodded.

"Okay, see you tomorrow then."

Since others are so enthusiastic, he doesn't want to discourage them.

Brown smiled, started the vehicle, and sped off toward the Sentinel Tower.

After watching Brown's car drive away from the block, Locke turned around, put his hands in his pockets, and walked into the apartment building.

Eighteenth floor.

Ding!

Locke stepped out of the elevator, took out his key from his pocket, and checked the time as he opened his apartment door.

Three o'clock in the morning.

He would usually be asleep by this time.

But he wasn't sleepy at all right now.

Forget about feeling sleepy; Locke felt wide awake.

After he fused with vampire genes and rose from E-rank to B-rank, becoming a darling of the night, he seemed to have become immune to sleep.

Not bad.

Without needing to sleep, roughly speaking, my day has eight hours longer than others.

Locke, standing at the bar in the living room, downed his bourbon in one gulp and thought to himself with satisfaction.

"Um?"

Locke, who had downed a glass of wine in one gulp, suddenly paused, staring at the empty glass in his hand, and blinked.

He turned around and took out a bottle of bourbon that he had bought at the supermarket a while ago from the liquor cabinet.

Turn on.

Pour the wine.

He drank it all in one gulp.

but……

Something doesn't feel right.

Locke looked at the newly opened bourbon, then glanced at the empty bottle of Thunder Bourbon and raised an eyebrow.

next second.

He opened the cabinet under the liquor cabinet and took out a new bottle of Thunder Bourbon.

Not all bourbon drinks are the same.

Thunder brand bourbon is undoubtedly the absolute king among bourbons.

Let me put it this way.

Even the Thunder Bourbon liquor that was just produced last month sells for the price of two years' rent for his current apartment.

Locke couldn't afford such expensive wine.

He took this wine from his dad's liquor cabinet when he returned to New York City from home last Christmas.

I opened another bottle of Thunder Bourbon Locke and drank it all in one gulp.

moment.

A warm feeling arose from within my body.

"really."

"It's not an illusion."

Locke raised an eyebrow, feeling his body warm up again, poured himself another glass of bourbon, and drank it all in one gulp.

A glass of wine goes down the throat.

A warm current arises spontaneously.

Before long, Locke clearly felt his body, which had cooled down since he fused with the vampire genes, warm up again.

"hiss."

"Thunderbolt has this effect?"

After confirming that everything was correct, Locke gasped and blinked at Thunder Bourbon, which was placed to the side.

He remembered that he still had two cases of Thunder Boburn liquor that someone had given him at his home in Washington.

Should I call my mom tomorrow and ask her to send it to me?

As Locke pondered this, he poured himself another glass and drank it all in one gulp.

After three cups of wine, he could feel that his body temperature seemed to have returned to normal.

Just then.

A knock came at the door.

Locke put the Thunder Bourbon into the liquor cabinet, took out a new glass and placed it opposite the bar, then turned around and walked to the apartment door.

Open the door.

into the eye.

She wore a black bodysuit that clung tightly to her curvaceous figure, and her long, fiery red hair cascaded over her shoulders.

Natasha smiled as she watched Locke open the door.

"Long time no see, Locke."

"It hasn't been long, not counting today, it's only been ninety-three days since we last met."

Locke smiled and opened the door.

As mentioned before.

His first choice for supernatural beings was vampires, and he even tried to find traces of vampires through S.H.I.E.L.D.

And the person he sought out during this process was none other than the famous Black Widow, Natasha Romanoff.

He had originally intended to get clues about the New York City vampires from Natasha.

But to no avail.

Locke didn't mind and maintained a good friendship with Natasha, who occasionally traveled to New York City for business.

However, six months ago, due to family matters, he got married, and Natasha lost contact with him after learning of his marriage.

Locke waited until Natasha entered the apartment, then closed the door and walked towards the bar.

"Would you like to drink?"

"Can."

Natasha looked around the apartment layout, then watched Locke pouring drinks at the bar, and sat down on a high stool. "It doesn't feel like much has changed here."

Locke handed the poured bourbon to Natasha: "It's just a rented apartment, what can change?"

"I don't know," Natasha shrugged, then said, "Wedding photos? By the way, I haven't seen what your new wife looks like yet."

Locke picked up his glass, clinked it against Natasha's, downed his drink in one gulp, and looked at her with a half-smile: "Are you sure you didn't know?"

He is not trustworthy.

Locke was certain that Natasha had looked up information about his wife, Esme, after learning of his marriage.

Natasha met Locke's gaze, smiled, and remained noncommittal.

"Didn't you say you wouldn't get married?"

"My father forced me to."

Locke answered Natasha in the same way he had answered Brown, refilling her glass before raising it again: "You work in Washington, you should know that."

Natasha nodded: "I do know a little."

The surname Underwood may not mean much in New York City.

But in Washington, D.C., this surname is quite prestigious.

After several rounds of drinks...

Natasha brushed some red hair that had fallen behind her ears, turned her head to look at Locke, who was standing opposite her, arms propped on the bar counter, smiling as he looked at her: "That's not a mutant, he's a vampire, our informant."

Locke shrugged.

"I know."

"That……"

"Five of my men are dead. If I give up this case, morale will collapse."

"Just because of that?"

"certainly."

Locke smiled and looked at Natasha: "What else could it be for?"

Natasha smiled, adjusted her long, fiery red hair, and changed the subject, saying, "It's getting late, I should go."

Locke raised an eyebrow, looking at Natasha who had said she was leaving but showed no sign of getting up, and smiled, "Not staying overnight?"

Natasha looked at Locke with her amber eyes sparkling and a smile playing on her lips.

You got married.

"I know."

Locke nodded, then changed the subject, saying, "She's a flight attendant."

Natasha looked at Locke and raised an eyebrow.

Locke smiled as he looked at Natasha.

next second.

The two people across the bar started moving at the same time.

Thunder hits the ground!

Thunder and fire refine true gold!
