Chapter 75 Going Crazy
Chapter 75 Going Crazy
In the morning, just as Elena finished preparing breakfast, Martin, with his freshly washed hair, entered the Carter's house right on time.
Before Lily could speak, Martin had already raised his fist.
Elena asked, "Did you go to train?"
Martin pulled out a chair and sat down: "Persistence is not easy; we cannot give up."
Lily suddenly asked, "Is Martin's stamina very good?"
Elena's mind worked a little slower: "How should I know?"
With a sizzling sound, Martin's fork pierced the most prominent point of the round bread.
Lily dropped her spoon with a clatter, quickly picked it up, and continued eating as if nothing had happened.
Martin asked Harris, "How many copies did you sell?"
Harris beamed: "Six servings! That's $1200!"
"Even that idiot Lily managed to sell four copies." Elena exclaimed in surprise, "Is this business really that easy?"
Martin said, "You can't count it that way. The first batch of customers were carefully selected."
Harris continued, explaining in detail: "Of the six people I selected, five made the purchase, and the other was a passerby."
Martin guessed that the passerby must be Andrew.
Harris went back to her room and got a bag, intending to give Martin half the money.
Martin waved his hand: "This is for my food expenses."
Elena never stood on ceremony with Martin and took it directly.
The door was then pushed open from the outside, and Scott limped in, carrying a cloth bag.
Elena and her three siblings were all staring at him.
Scott, reeking of alcohol, grabbed a sandwich and started eating it in large bites.
"What are you doing here?" Elena asked in a less than friendly tone.
After finishing his sandwich, Scott casually wiped the sauce off his T-shirt, tossed the cloth bag in his other hand onto the sofa, glanced at Elena and Harris, and said, "This is all I have."
Martin guessed what was in the bag and looked at Scott curiously.
Elena opened the bag, which contained six small rolls of $20 bills.
Harris asked, "Scott, these..."
Scott didn't say a word, turned around and walked out. After a few steps, he suddenly turned back, quickly walked to the bag, picked up a roll and stuffed it into his pocket: "I still need to buy alcohol and points."
He hesitated for a moment, then picked up another roll and stuffed it into his pocket.
Once he made a move, Scott's eyes were only on the dollars, and he reached out again to grab the bag.
Elena snatched the bag and hid it behind her back.
"They're all idiots, a bunch of useless trash!" Scott limped away.
Lily ran out and chased after him to the door, only to see Scott walking towards the new traffickers' hideout without looking back.
She came back with her head down.
Elena handed the bag to Harris: "Don't spend it recklessly."
Martin added, "Scott didn't earn this money easily."
"He wouldn't have become a trafficker, would he?" Elena worried.
Martin mumbled, "No."
Elena quietly reached out and took Martin's hand: "It's not necessarily a bad thing that bastard Jack is gone. Scott..."
She didn't know how to say it, so her voice lowered: "Scott has an occasional bout of madness."
After breakfast, Elena gave the car keys to Harris, and he and Lily went out to sell stars, determined to sell the entire universe.
Martin took Elena to the mall to buy clothes.
"Someone actually bought the naming rights to a star." Elena found it unbelievable.
Martin casually remarked, "You could sell land on the moon."
After shopping for clothes with Elena, Martin had lunch with her, then took her to work at the Blue Water Bar. He then drove to the Atlanta branch of the Savannah College of the Arts to audit language courses in the performing arts department.
For the next period of time, Martin lived a very regular life, spending most of his days studying.
Occasionally, he would meet up with Bruce to continue practicing his shooting.
It's not just for my future career, but also for safety reasons.
In addition, Martin had Kelly Gray help him gather information and study how Hollywood movies work.
These are all things Martin lacks.
By September, Harris had started college, and Elena had gradually gained a reputation in the bartending industry, earning enough from tips alone to support her family.
Faced with competitors poaching her talent, boss Mary had to raise her hourly wage to $10.
Martin also got busy, spending most of his time at Gray Company, doing voice work for the initial cut of "Zombie Dancer".
He had the most screen time in the film, and naturally, he did the most voice acting as well.
Director Benjamin wore many hats, serving as both editor and voice director.
"Ah! Hoo... Ha!"
Inside the dubbing studio, a very strange male voice rang out, as if he were doing something shady: "Come on!"
After a dubbing segment ended, director Benjamin gave a thumbs-up to the dubbing studio.
Martin put down his headset, took the towel his assistant brought him, and wiped the sweat from his hands: "Ben, the films you directed have given me a wealth of experience."
Benjamin said, "Don't be modest, you were born that way."
Martin retorted: "You're the one who's best suited to go to the Sacred Valley. The Sacred Valley needs you to save it! These days, the Sacred Valley films are becoming increasingly plot-driven and have no fun at all."
He approached Benjamin and said, "With your talent, you're absolutely destined for greatness with this film, and you'll win Best Director."
Benjamin said, "I haven't found a wife yet."
Martin asked in surprise, "What does this have to do with whether or not I've found a wife?"
"You don't know?" Benjamin said, seeing that Martin didn't seem to be faking it. "To win Best Director, either your wife is the leading lady or your husband is the leading man."
Martin exclaimed, "Even more ruthless than the Oscars!"
After chatting for a while and relaxing, Martin went back into the recording studio.
Benjamin's lines fit the B-movie atmosphere perfectly.
Martin got into character, gesturing at the screen in the recording studio: "Either surrender to me, or I'll blow your head off!"
When it came to the aerial battle scene, Martin watched himself and Jenna soar through the air, locked in a life-or-death struggle.
He has extensive practical experience and can always shout out the most appropriate howl at the most opportune moment.
After the dubbing for this scene was finished, it was lunchtime.
Andrew ran over and invited Martin and Benjamin to have dinner together at a nearby restaurant.
While eating, they discussed the dubbing work they would do that afternoon.
Benjamin said something: "Martin, an excellent actor, needs to strengthen his in-depth communication with women. Take our film for example, an actor with enough practical experience makes filming go exceptionally smoothly."
Martin thought that was absolutely right.
The three were discussing very serious film art, and none of them wanted to stray from the topic.
Benjamin added, "If these plays are performed by inexperienced actors, even if I write out all the lines, will they know which tone to use?"
He praised Martin: "You are that experienced young woman."
Martin nearly spat out his soup and quickly changed the subject: "Ben, the later stages should be finished by mid-October."
Benjamin said, "No problem, everyone knows how efficient I am, the film will definitely be finished before the Savannah Film Festival."
