Chapter 97 Visiting Wayne Manor
Chapter 97 Visiting Wayne Manor
"Young Master Bruce, perhaps you should rest."
Bruce carved out the underground caverns within Wayne Manor to serve as his secret base.
Rows of large, sophisticated devices were placed side by side, with a huge electronic display screen on top of them.
Countless screens are recording various events taking place in Gotham City.
Below the screen was a chair, and the cold coffee on the armrest proved that the chair's owner had long since left.
"Young Master Bruce?"
Afu glanced around and, not seeing Bruce in the center, strode towards the innermost part of the cave.
That's Bruce's armory.
As a versatile talent in DC, Bruce also knows how to conduct scientific research and manufacture equipment.
Afu calmly reached out and pressed his hand on the display screen on the iron gate.
As the red light on the device scanned the palm, the previously closed iron door opened with a "hum".
A wave of intense heat hit him, but Afu walked in without flinching.
It was a dimly lit room with all sorts of strange and unusual instruments and equipment hanging on the walls.
In the very center of the house stood a cast-iron table, and a tall, shirtless figure was repeatedly swinging a hammer at it.
The massive iron hammer struck a piece of red-hot metal, causing countless brilliant sparks to fly out.
"Young Master Bruce, I know you're very busy, but perhaps you should take better care of your health."
Afu frowned and said with dissatisfaction, "You haven't eaten anything all day."
Bruce's deep voice came from beneath the welder's mask: "I know, Alfred. I'll rest after I finish my work."
Afu sighed, knowing he couldn't persuade Bruce, so he simply put the food on his plate aside, walked over to Bruce's side, and also picked up a welder's mask and put it on his face.
"Is there anything I can help you with, Master Bruce?"
Bruce pointed to a scalding, viscous object on the iron table: "I need you to reheat this metal for me."
He put down the hammer in his hand and struggled to lift a carved mold from another table, which contained the image of the Batsuit.
If we were to pinpoint the most distinctive characteristic of Bruce Wayne, or Batman in general, it would be...
Perhaps it was his wisdom, his unwavering character, and his never-give-up spirit.
But what's most admirable is that no matter how many times he's defeated, Batman can grit his teeth, endure the pain, and get back up.
No one can endure failure forever, but a baby bat can.
After being brutally beaten by Ginobili, Bruce learned his lesson and immediately decided to make a change.
He decided to start with the armor.
As the man in Gotham, no, the entire world, who can rival the wealth of the Luthor family, Bruce spent a fortune to acquire a batch of precious iron metal. He had heard of this magical metal during his travels around the world; it can absorb most forms of energy and use them to enhance the host's strength and speed.
Of course, using only titanium would greatly increase the weight of the suit. To reduce the weight, Bruce also mixed in intermetal, an indestructible and powerful metal.
"Let's begin."
Bruce placed the mold under the iron table.
Afu pressed the button, and with a roar from the iron furnace, the molten metal heated up again and turned red, as if it would explode and blow everyone into the air in the next second.
"Okay, Afu, turn it off!"
Bruce gave the order: at the same time Alfred pressed the red stop button next to the fireplace, he reached out and pressed the green button on the iron table.
"Pfft~"
The heat wave, carrying molten iron, flowed into the mold along the carved railway track.
As the iron flowed into the mold, a majestic bat armor began to take shape.
Bruce looked at the red-hot armor and knew he needed to wait a while for it to solidify on its own.
Bruce picked up a warm loaf of bread and chewed it. He walked out of the equipment room, sat on a cold chair, and stared at the screen, monitoring Gotham's every move.
"Young Master Bruce, perhaps you should find some like-minded companions to work together." Alfred felt a pang of sympathy for the boy he had watched grow up.
Bruce shook his head: "No, Alfred, I don't believe them."
After witnessing the list of Court of Owls members that the mysterious man handed to him, Bruce became utterly disillusioned with Gotham's leadership.
"But you mentioned Sheriff Gordon before."
"He still needs further evaluation, Alfred." Bruce shook his head. He wouldn't trust someone so easily, even if that person seemed righteous.
I used the mouse to bring up Gino's photo.
Bruce narrowed his eyes slightly, comparing the figure to the "Nameless One" he had encountered in the underground labyrinth.
However, the hallucinogenic drug mixed into the water he drank that day distorted the "nameless person" in his memory.
Just as Bruce was deep in thought.
"Beep beep beep."
A clear bell rang out in the underground passage.
"Someone is knocking on the door."
Afu glanced at the screen.
On the huge fluorescent blue screen, Thomas was standing outside the iron gate with a handsome young man.
"It's Mr. Thomas and his nephew." Bruce picked up his cold coffee and took a sip. His gaze fell on the young man behind Thomas. This was a good opportunity to confirm his guess. He immediately said, "Let's go greet them."
"Bruce is a good friend, Geno. If your Luther Group wants to expand its operations in Gotham City in the future, then partnering with Wayne Enterprises would be a good option."
Outside the iron gate made of dripping stone beasts, Thomas was enthusiastically telling Gino about Bruce's good qualities.
"Perhaps you should ask Lex about this," Gino said calmly, looking at the message Talia had sent him a minute earlier on his phone.
[Lei Xiaogu has led one hundred elite assassins to Gotham City, where he plans to plant a heavy dirty bomb to destroy the city.]
This was a crazy plan, but unfortunately, Lei Xiaogu was wary of Talia, and the woman could only find out a few details.
After thinking for a moment, Gino forwarded the message to a "friend" who was far away in the metropolis.
"Zucker, please edit a message and send it to this email address."
Gino copied and pasted the message from Talia and put his phone away.
At that moment, Thomas was also discussing Lex.
"Lex? Forget it." Thomas stared at the iron gate, looking dejected. "That kid has been infected by that madman Lionel and turned into a cold-blooded monster."
Thomas frequently visited Leticia at the Metropolitan Sanatorium, while to his knowledge, Lex never visited Leticia.
Gino didn't answer. He and Lex had a good relationship, but his relationship with Lionel was terrible.
That old guy is a typical sophisticated egoist.
He has no emotions in his eyes; if his family has any value, he can betray them to the devil without hesitation.
Some of the older members of the author group talk about everything except novels.
