Chapter 82 Batman and Gordon

Maronny is dead.

He died at the lavish banquet along with his two henchmen.

"Click".

The disconnected electricity was restored, and the blazing lights once again illuminated the hall.

People were clamoring to leave, having witnessed three lives die before their very eyes. These wealthy and powerful people were unwilling to remain in such a dangerous place.

"What happened?"

Gino picked up a napkin from the table, wiped the water off his hands, and sat back down in his seat.

The boy's expression was calm, his tone light. He stuck his fork into a piece of steak on the table, put it in his mouth, and commented, "It's a bit too well-done. Looks like the chef isn't in form tonight."

Thomas ignored Gino and rushed towards the two burly men with knives in their necks.

As a doctor, Thomas practiced the principle of "saving lives and healing the wounded".

But the corpse's dilated pupils deterred Thomas from taking any further action.

"Oh my god, Bruce, we have to get out of here!"

The two "decorative" women Bruce brought were flustered and stood up, grabbing their small bags and urging Bruce to leave.

Everything was chaotic, and when faced with danger, people's first reaction was to run away and get away from the danger.

But Bruce shook his head, gesturing for the two women to go first, while his gaze shifted to Gino.

The handsome young man was still wearing that black suit, his tie neatly tied.

Gino glanced at the corpse in the distance, a look of surprise on his face: "Someone's dead?"

His acting was so convincing that Bruce couldn't immediately determine whether Gino was connected to the killer.

Bruce nodded and said, "Yes, the one who died was mob boss Maroney."

"Then this assassin is a good person; he has rid the people of a scourge."

Gino gloated: "I heard he's a mob boss who runs a lot of shady businesses."

"Does Mr. Bruce think he deserves to die?"

Gino put down his fork, resting his chin on his hands: "If every criminal died by assassination, could Gotham City return to 'normal'?"

Will Gotham return to normal if all the bad guys are killed?

Bruce even subconsciously recalled the scene in Gotham after the criminals disappeared.

But the wailing sirens interrupted Bruce's thoughts.

Compared to the slow response times in impoverished neighborhoods, Gotham police demonstrated remarkable professionalism when dealing with the powerful and wealthy.

James Gordon, 29, is a retired U.S. Navy Special Forces officer who joined the Gotham City Police Department a week ago.

Gordon has a wife who isn't particularly beautiful but is very virtuous, and she's pregnant. This means Gordon needs a stable job to support his family.

Society is never warm; it is only cold and cruel.

If Gordon were willing to become a corrupt cop, his life might be much easier, but

Gordon is an outlier among Gotham police officers.

For example, he never accepts bribes and never attends "fun" gatherings with his colleagues.

Such an unsociable person naturally faced ostracism from colleagues and superiors.

So, faced with this extremely bizarre murder case, the boss sent the unlucky Gordon to handle it.

"Rett, Fran, you two lead the team to cordon off and protect the scene."

"Frank, come with me to find someone to make a statement."

Gordon rubbed his temples.

He has been unhappy lately.

He was physically and mentally exhausted by the exclusion and suppression from his superiors and colleagues.

Gordon walked into the hall, where many people had already left.

His gaze swept over the three corpses; clearly, this was a homicide.

"call."

Gordon took a deep breath, and soon the officer in charge of giving the statement reported the situation to Gordon.

Gordon frowned as he listened to the officer's report.

An assassin suddenly appeared, killed Maroni, and left.

This transcript looks as absurd as some science fiction web novels.

"Never mind, let's take the body back to the morgue first."

early morning.

Gordon watched as the forensic pathologist removed a small knife from the victim's shattered throat after dissecting the body.

The silver throwing knife had an owl pattern engraved on its blade.

As he was pondering, a strange gust of wind sounded behind him.

"Splash!"

It looked like some kind of clothing swaying in the wind.

"Who is it?"

Gordon tensed up and suddenly turned around.

Under the dim yellow light, the dark figure resembled a giant bat, standing silently in the corner.

The dark black cloak fluttered without wind, and paired with the black armor, it made the guy look mysterious and strange.

Beneath those pointed-ear masks were a pair of cold eyes.

Gordon discreetly pressed the pistol at his waist, ready to fire without hesitation should the other party make any unusual movement.

Who would infiltrate a forensic workplace dressed in a costume similar to a theatrical performance?

A: Mentally ill person.

"take it easy."

Gordon heard the black-clad pervert speak slowly.

"I'm here to help you."

Batman ignored Gordon's little tricks, walked to the corpse, and picked up the murder weapon from the tray.

His gaze lingered for a moment on the owl pattern on the throwing knife.

Considering some of the rumors surrounding the Wayne family, Batman had some guesses in his mind.

He dropped the throwing knife and turned to leave.

"Wait! You can't just show up and leave like that!"

Gordon drew his pistol, and after a moment of restraint, he shouted, "I now suspect you have connections with the murderer. Put your hands on your head, squat down, and cooperate with the investigation!"

Batman didn't stop. Under Gordon's watchful eye, he opened the window and jumped out.

"God!"

Gordon covered his mouth; this was the fifth floor, after all.

He rushed to the window, trying to save the other person.

But when Gordon ran to the window and looked down into the darkness, he saw the costumed man under the neon lights raising his arms and spreading his black cloak.

In the darkness of night, the howling wind whistled through the black cloak.

The other person was like a bat with outstretched arms, gliding across the city shrouded in night, gradually disappearing from Gordon's sight.

"My God."

Gordon rubbed his eyes, feeling like he was absolutely crazy!

Gotham's sewers.

The murky sewage flowed through the underground sewers, churning with garbage and the corpses of some creatures, a sight that was nauseating.

Draw your gaze across a thick wall.

On a dimly lit, round conference table, a group of men and women wearing white masks and various expensive formal wear gathered together.

The scents of various precious perfumes mingled and permeated the air.

"Everyone."

The leader tapped the table and said, "Tonight's Maronny case is being handled by someone impersonating us."

The white candlelight flickered, casting swaying shadows in its reflection.

As soon as he finished speaking, someone immediately chimed in, "He'll pay the price for impersonating the Court of Owls."

A group of people, hiding their true selves behind masks, engaged in a heated discussion.

"He will expose our presence."

"He will pay a heavy price."

They whispered among themselves:

"Use our connections."

"Investigate his background."

"Then,"

"Send out your claws!"

I'll try to add an extra chapter tomorrow (probably?).
