Chapter 425 Hiding the Rats
Chapter 425 Hiding the Rats
England.
London.
Ships on the canal roared past beneath the high bridge.
The steam whistle beeps as it broke through the river.
The pedestrians on both sides of the river were relaxed and at ease. As the place where Wonder Woman, a member of the Justice League, was stationed, it was safe and peaceful. Few supervillains would dare to provoke Wonder Woman Diana, the most murderous member of the League.
Yes, this is not a joke, but has a solid basis in reality and theory.
If we were to rank the Justice League members who have killed the most, the number one spot wouldn't go to Ginobili, who has the most imposing presence and strength. He generally doesn't kill unless someone has crossed his line.
And Clark and Batman, needless to say, never kill anyone.
Steel skeleton?
What courage do you expect an 18-year-old to use Mother Box technology to cripple someone?
So, perhaps it was the Amazons' restless nature, or something else, but in any case, Diana killed quite a few people.
"Ding-dong~"
The once peaceful bridge suddenly exploded, and a group of terrorists armed with firearms appeared on various parts of the roadside, indiscriminately pulling the triggers and firing at pedestrians on the street.
Deadly bullets whizzed past mortal bodies, extinguishing their lives.
At that moment, a robber saw a little girl standing blankly by the roadside holding a box, so he raised his gun and pulled the trigger.
"boom!"
Even faster than he pulled the trigger was Wonder Woman, who descended from the sky and punched him through the chest, killing him instantly.
"It's Wonder Woman!"
When people saw Wonder Woman descending from the sky, they erupted in enthusiastic cheers.
It could be said that in England, Wonder Woman's status is even higher than that of their cheap king.
Ignoring the cheers of the crowd, Diana swung the rope in her hand again, hanging several robbers who were trying to escape from the bridge one by one.
The female knight's philosophy is simple: fight violence with violence, no further explanation needed.
"Big sister, you're so cool!"
The little girl, who had witnessed the entire battle, had eyes shining with admiration. She held out a gift box to Wonder Woman: "Here are some chocolates. Would you please accept them?"
As she spoke, the little girl gave a pitiful look.
Diana looked at the pitiful girl and couldn't help but smile slightly: "Of course."
She reached out, took the gift box from the girl's hand, and opened it.
then.
"Snapped!"
A throbbing starfish tentacle suddenly landed on Diana's forehead, and the next second, the light in the heroine's eyes instantly turned dull.
This sudden turn of events terrified the little girl: "Where are the chocolates in my box?!"
No one responded to her; the adults around her mostly took out their phones and started filming. In this age of entertainment to the death, everything seemed incredibly absurd and ridiculous.
"Mr. Bruce, your package is here."
Inside the bat cave, Afu walked in carrying a box. Looking at the starfish specimen in his hand, he said, "It was sent by Miss Selena."
When this woman's name was mentioned, a doting smile flashed in Afu's eyes.
As the person who has been with Bruce the longest and watched him grow up, Alfred is genuinely happy for Bruce that he has a girlfriend he truly likes and whose relationship is progressing well.
"A gift box?"
Bruce narrowed his eyes slightly. He was naturally happy that his female companion, Selena, was giving him a gift, but as a patient with severe paranoia, Bruce quickly began to formulate a series of meticulous and thorough plans.
First, we need to make sure this gift box isn't being sent by someone using Selena's name.
Secondly, he needs to determine what substance is inside, and thirdly, he needs to inquire about the venom's sensory abilities.
"Venom, what do you think?"
"I feel something's not right, Batman."
Bruce's bat-like suit seemed to come alive, and a miniature Venom head hissed as it approached the metal box, then gently pressed against it and sniffed.
"This thing is alive!"
Venom suddenly changed its attitude, like a brutal black whip piercing into the cardboard box. Bruce then felt through shared senses that Venom had pierced a limp creature, which also let out a shrill scream.
"This thing isn't a starfish at all! This guy has his own independent consciousness!"
Venom manipulated its own body tissues to taste the starfish in the box and quickly came to a conclusion.
"An independent organism?"
Bruce narrowed his eyes slightly.
"Ah Fu, connect to the Justice League headquarters watchtower. I need to contact Gino immediately!"
Bruce acted decisively; as a seasoned master of intrigue, he sensed a conspiracy at play.
Therefore, Bruce felt it was necessary for him to remind Gino.
But at that moment, a voice suddenly rang out.
"No need to ask, I'm already here."
Gino's voice came from the sofa not far behind him.
The sudden appearance of the figure made Batman's expression turn somewhat unpleasant.
He was surprised to find that none of the safety measures he had carefully set up in the bat cave had warned of the risks.
What does this mean?
This means that his defenses were completely ineffective; if Gino wanted to appear here, he wouldn't be able to react at all.
Such thoughts quickly passed through his mind, but the butler, Afu, approached Gino with a polite smile: "It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Luther. Would you like something to drink?"
"Milk is fine."
"Please wait a moment."
As Alfred left, before Batman could even speak, Ginobili dropped a bombshell: "Breaking news, Clark and Diana have been controlled by those starfish tentacles."
Upon hearing this, Bruce took a deep breath, his gaze shifting from Gino's face to the metal box not far away, inside which was a pierced starfish, spewing out green liquid.
"I received this too."
Who is the mastermind behind this?
"Trevor, you can think of him as an upgraded version of Amanda, even more insane and unscrupulous than Amanda. He even killed Amanda to frame her."
Bruce's white eye patch beneath his mask was almost slits, revealing one of Batman's classic poses: suspicion.
"I suspect this guy is most likely planning to take action against our Justice League."
Batman, adopting Trevor's perspective, as the most outstanding master of deduction, begins to unravel the mystery: "And once he has the power of the Justice League members, he will likely use that power against us."
"But the most urgent task is to rescue our trapped companions. Have you checked with the Singer?"
"We tried it, but it was a complete waste of time. That rat was much better at hiding than we thought."
