Chapter 356 Fury's Helplessness
Chapter 356 Fury's Helplessness
Jesse had no idea what had happened in the battle between Gino and God.
All I remember is that the lights of various colors were flashing as if they were free.
Jesse couldn't remember how long she had been watching; she only felt her cheeks were covered in tears from the light.
The mountains were leveled, and the earth trembled.
Just when Jesse was wondering if the world would be destroyed in the battle between these two big shots.
"Boom!"
It sounded like a muffled thunderclap from the clouds, and then a blurry afterimage fell like a sandbag.
Like an object crashing into a freshly poured concrete wall, the figure fell from the clouds, raising a cloud of dust.
"Who's winning?"
Jesse looked grave as he cautiously lifted his leg to look in the direction where the figure had fallen.
It has to be said that, from a certain perspective, Jesse is quite daring.
Approaching through the smoke and dust, Jesse saw a shirtless, white-bearded old man lying weakly in a cracked pit that had been smashed open.
The white beard was covered in golden blood, which instantly shattered Jesse's awe of God.
So even gods can be hurt and bleed!
A gust of wind whipped up his robes, and sand lashed against Jesse's face, forcing him to raise his hand to shield himself.
"No, don't kill me!"
Before Jesse even opened his eyes, he heard God's aged voice screaming in terror.
He opened his eyes and saw the young man, who called himself Peter, smiling as he grabbed God by the throat, raising his hands to strike God with both hands: "Alpha? Omega?"
Snap, snap~
A resounding slap landed on God's face, making him dizzy, while Gino's mocking laughter echoed in his ears: "That's it?"
"That's too weak!"
As he spoke, Gino's eyes flashed red, and his deadly heat vision severed Jesse's head, splitting it in two before Jesse's horrified gaze!
The skull resembled a punctured basketball, with golden blood flowing down the seams of the bones.
"Snapped!"
Grab that silvery, jelly-like brain, pull it gently, and then crush it.
The God who was kneeling and wailing just a second ago suddenly collapsed to the ground, unable to move an inch.
"What's wrong with him?"
Jesse was stunned, looking at God, who had lost his head but whose chest was still rising and falling, somewhat bewildered.
"What's wrong? As a higher-dimensional life form, losing his brain doesn't kill him immediately, but rather maintains him in a state of survival. However, losing his brain also means that he has lost his consciousness and ability to act."
"In terms you can understand."
Gino opened a spatial passage and threw God's corpse into it: "That's how he became a vegetable."
The boy, with a detached expression, uttered words that sent chills down Jesse's spine:
"They will become good experimental subjects."
Damn it, this guy is really insane. What kind of being would turn God into material?
With this thought in mind, Jesse swallowed hard, suppressing the urge to complain.
Gino ignored Jesse, whose face looked ashen and constipated as if he'd eaten a lump of coal. He opened another golden path and smiled at Jesse, saying, "See you again sometime."
SHIELD.
Sitting on his personal "throne," commanding thousands of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, Nick Fury, the powerful and influential director of S.H.I.E.L.D., had a drooping mouth, and his already dark face appeared even darker under the incandescent light.
Yes, anyone with a brain can see that Fury is in a very bad mood right now, extremely bad.
There's a reason Fury is in a bad mood.
So much has happened lately that even he, who considers himself the king of spies, is finding it hard to keep up.
First, a kid named Spider-Man has recently appeared in New York City.
I spend all day wandering among the skyscrapers of New York City.
Next up is that damn bastard Tony Stark.
The other party, having made some kind of deal with that mysterious being, not only received the Super Soldier Serum but also gained eight-pack abs.
Fury hated this feeling, this feeling of everything slipping out of his control, which made him feel extremely insecure.
So the cunning Fury also began his own operation.
Fury went to Tony and expressed his desire to form an alliance. To ensure Tony's agreement, Fury even offered him the position of alliance leader.
But, to Fury's surprise, Tony rejected him without hesitation.
Although it was unclear why Tony refused, Fury wasn't one to be stubborn, so he turned his attention to Spider-Man, attempting to persuade him to join the League.
However, like Tony, Peter rejected Fury's offer almost without hesitation.
The fact that one or two people rejected him made Fury lose face.
Is he some kind of cheap person?
Or was it that my sincerity was ultimately misplaced?
"Sigh." Fury sighed deeply, though he knew exactly where the problem lay.
If they had Mr. Ginobili's friendship, they believed Tony and Peter would both be willing to join their planned Avengers program.
However, that gentleman had very high standards for choosing friends. Fury once summarized that they were either technological geniuses or kind and brave people.
And he had neither of these.
"Chief, we've compiled the intelligence regarding the mysterious man's abilities."
Deputy Director Hill, a blonde, long-legged woman, handed Fury a document.
As he flipped through the documents, Nick Fury couldn't help but ask, "What's the general situation?"
"Based on the energy burst on the Brooklyn Bridge that day, we can make a brief conclusion: the other side is roughly omnipotent."
Although he had expected it, Fury was still slightly taken aback when he heard the answer, and then became even more troubled.
In some ways, he is similar to Batman, both being skeptical strategists.
They never trust anyone, not even themselves, and always have various backup plans to deal with emergencies.
But faced with a powerful being like Gino, Fury, who wasn't particularly bright to begin with, felt completely helpless and couldn't think of any solutions.
Just as Fury was feeling lost, another agent came running up in a panic.
"Chief, you should take a look at this."
"What?"
Fury frowned, then saw a video of a city playing on a tablet his agents had brought.
What terrified Fury the most were the two enormous figures in the image.
Every time these two behemoths clash, they cause immense destruction to nearby cities.
"Damn it." Fury's face grew even darker. "Can anyone tell me what's going on?"
"Uh, according to the surveillance footage, the incident happened 10 minutes ago."
"One of the monsters appeared out of thin air, while the other jumped out of a military helicopter."
