Chapter 25 Cat and Mouse Game
Chapter 25 Cat and Mouse Game
The Luther Castle was quiet and eerie in the dead of night.
In the early hours of the morning, the servants had already gone to bed, and the lights were turned off.
The vast castle was shrouded in silence.
An SUV was parked quietly outside the iron gate. The old butler, holding a lead box in both hands, walked into the castle step by step.
The elegant old man did not notice the dark figure that flashed past behind him.
He walked through the quiet hall, his leather shoes making a soft creaking sound on the oak stairs.
The old butler went up to the second floor and then headed to the room on the left side next to the balcony.
"Young Master." The old butler gently knocked on the door with his finger.
A languid voice came from inside: "Come in."
The old butler gently pushed open the door. The room was dark, and Gino, wearing a short-sleeved shirt, lay on the bed. Seeing the old butler, he smiled and got up from the bed: "Did you bring the things?"
"Yes."
Gino pointed to the table:
"Put it on the table, you can go and rest now."
The old steward put down the lead box and turned to leave.
"Clatter".
The door closed, and Gino walked toward the lead box.
Gently lifting the lead box with his right hand, the green gemstone inside emitted a deep luster, and Gino's cheeks gradually paled as the gemstone necklace shone through.
Weak and powerless, like a dehydrated fish.
Kryptonite.
Gino's expression was complicated as he forced himself to close the lead box with a "snap" despite his weakness.
The lead box blocked the effects of the kryptonite, and the feeling of exhaustion left.
He gently placed the kryptonite on the table, but then heard an unusual noise.
The sound was barely audible, but Gino, with his extraordinary talent, still heard it.
"interesting."
Gino smiled and turned his gaze to the wall at the foot of the bed, beyond which lay the rooftop of his room, a suitable spot for Tibetans.
Was it an assassin sent by a hitman website who was curious about this?
Or are they planning to double-cross each other?
Gino cracked his neck.
"Even though we had the old housekeeper drive around the area several times before he came back, we still couldn't shake off this 'tail'."
Gino, with a calm expression, slowly walked towards the wall that had made the sound.
As they drew closer, separated by only a wall, Gino took a deep breath and held it.
Focus your attention on your ears.
Gino tilted his head slightly and slowly closed his eyes.
Breathing, breathing, in the stillness of the mind, everything around seemed to have been paused.
The sound of wind slowly reached my ears.
He heard it.
I heard that.
The cold night wind lashed against the glass, whistling through the cracks.
The deafening snoring from next door, Lex.
Downstairs in the maids' room, several maids who were still awake were discussing their future ideal partners.
But among these sounds, a slow and steady heartbeat was interspersed.
The owner of this heartbeat was currently separated from Gino by only a wall.
"As expected." Gino smiled, now completely certain that he was being followed.
He gently extended his right hand, clenched it into a fist, then curled his index finger, and lightly tapped the cold wall with his finger bones.
"Da, da, da."
The silence echoed, and Gino heard the heartbeat quicken slightly before quickly calming down.
It seems the other person doesn't realize they've discovered her.
The assassin was very confident in his abilities.
A chuckle escaped his lips as the boy tapped on the wall, chanting in a poetic, almost aria-like tone, "Little pig, little pig, let me in quickly~"
"Little pig, little pig, let me in quickly~"
outside the house.
A cold wind blew against Talia, the skilled assassin listening silently to the sounds coming from inside the house.
Even before arriving here, the well-traveled Talia recognized the Luther family crest hanging on the ancient castle.
"That's a line from 'The Three Little Pigs'." A memory flashed through Talia's mind; her mother had told her this story when she was a child.
Talia's eyes flashed with disdain, and a mocking smile curled at the corner of her lips: "I never expected that the direct heir of the Luther family would be a fool who likes fairy tales."
Feeling somewhat disappointed, Talia heard the voice chanting again: "You swear by the hair on your chin that you will never open the door?"
Talia remained silent, silently labeling the youngest son of the Luther family as an idiot in her mind.
The voice paused for a moment, then the aria-like tone gradually lowered:
"I'll smash it hard."
"Smash it harder!"
"Smash your house!"
Talia even detected a sinister undertone in the voice.
"What exactly does he want to do?"
"Is he a lunatic?"
Talia frowned, lost in her own thoughts.
She didn't realize she had been exposed; she possessed the world's most powerful breath-holding technique and the best stealth skills.
But at this moment...
"Bang!"
The thick cement wall shattered with a crash as a fist smashed through it, leaving a gap the size of a bowl in the solid surface.
"What!?"
Talia's eyes widened, a sense of absurdity growing in her heart.
Am I seeing things?
She actually saw a fist smash through the solid concrete wall!
Talia was filled with astonishment. She watched as the arm slowly twisted, turning from a fist into a palm, and then, like a sharp blade cutting through soft tofu, the thick, powerful arm slashed down from top to bottom.
"Splash!"
The cement wall was like paper, with countless fragments and debris flying everywhere.
A gap half a meter wide suddenly appeared.
Before Talia could even react...
"Snapped!"
A handsome face suddenly appeared in the crack in the wall.
In the pitch-black darkness, the face appeared slightly eerie and mysterious. The head was tilted slightly to the left, and the azure eyes coldly stared at Talia, the voice low and gloomy: "Johnny's here~"
"what!"
Upon seeing the face that suddenly appeared, even Talia, who had experienced countless assassinations and received advanced training from the system, and who considered herself an elite among elites, couldn't help but let out a scream. Her slightly harsh face was filled with fear.
[Negative emotions from Talia El Gul +5, +5]
"boom!"
Gino pushed hard with both hands, and the already dilapidated cement wall collapsed with a crash.
The loud noise also startled the other people in the castle.
Countless lights came on to dispel the darkness.
The noisy voices echoed through the ancient castle.
Under the bright moonlight, a tall and muscular figure looked down at Talia, and the oppressive aura made Talia involuntarily hold her breath.
His handsome face was full of mockery.
Gino stared at the green-eyed woman in front of him and uttered his first words upon meeting her: "Hey there, little pig!"
"Damn it." Talia stared at Gino's powerful, seemingly cast-iron-like body, but her mind raced. Having witnessed Gino's feat of shattering concrete walls with his bare hands, the cunning woman knew she was no match: "I must feign an attack and escape!"
Having made up her mind, a resolute glint flashed in Talia's eyes.
The woman flipped her hands and pulled out two gleaming daggers from her sleeves.
"Whoosh!"
Like a cold wind, Talia lunged at Gino, her two daggers aimed at his throat and heart, one above the other.
But to Talia's surprise, the man simply stood still and did not flinch.
"Hmph!" The woman snorted coldly, and just as she was about to approach Gino, she leaped up, her long legs lightly touching the rooftop. Using the reaction force, Talia fell from above.
The whistling wind blew past my ears.
Talia tilted her head back and stared at Gino, her lips slightly pursed, looking at him with the eyes of someone looking at an idiot, giving him the same response she had given when they first met: "Fool."
