Chapter 219 Prophecy and the Future
Chapter 219 Prophecy and the Future
When a life that was once unchanging undergoes earth-shattering changes, the so-called tranquility is long gone.
A sanatorium in a small town.
"I don't understand why you'd have so much free time to come to the sanatorium with us."
corridor.
Smiling, Lana dodged the elderly man with dementia who was pushing a wheelchair. She looked helpless and turned to Clark with a wry smile.
"I'm just so bored that I can't go back to school," Clark sighed, following behind Lana with a stack of lunch boxes in his arms.
"And," Clark's eyes were complicated as he recalled the many major events that had occurred this week, one after another, keeping him incredibly busy, "I need a vacation."
Two days have passed since Geno led the Justice League back to this universe, but Clark's situation remains unchanged.
Everyone knows that two extraordinary entities are hidden in the small town of Smallville.
Naturally, this would attract curious onlookers to the town, who would try to uncover the private lives of these two individuals.
"I can't even show up at school," Clark said with a wry smile. "Otherwise, those students would drag me around signing autographs for a whole day and night."
As for Gino? He hasn't set foot in school since Zod called him out in front of the whole planet.
"Okay, you can come along if you want, but you must keep quiet."
Lana glared at Clark, then pushed open the door to her room in the sanatorium and stepped inside.
The girl pushed open the door, and as the door tilted, a room filled with flowers, plants, and trees came into Clark's view. In the center of the room was a sofa, and an elderly white woman with white hair was wearing black sunglasses, reaching out to touch a book on her lap, with a kind smile on her lips.
"This is Ms. Cassandra," Lana whispered to Clark, her large eyes fixed on him. "I've heard she can foresee the future."
"That's impossible," Clark laughed and shook his head, retorting, "If you said Gino could foresee the future, I would support you without reservation, but an old lady..."
Clark glanced at the old woman with a hint of pity in his eyes and said to Lana, "If she really could foresee the future, then perhaps she wouldn't have ended up in a nursing home."
What elderly person would want to live in a nursing home? Do they want to be beaten by the caregivers?
"Hey!"
Just as the two were discussing quietly, the old lady in the distance frowned and protested, "Gossiping about others behind their backs is not a good habit!"
"She can hear?" Clark asked with a strange expression.
"Of course, I may be blind, but I'm not deaf." The old lady sighed, ignoring the fool Clark, and turned to Lana, who was standing in the doorway, and smiled, "Lana, it's good to see you again."
"In today's society, it's rare to see a kind girl like you."
"No, I just did what I was supposed to do." Lana stuck out her tongue and entered the room at the old lady's invitation.
"What are you standing there for?" As if she had spotted Clark, the old woman raised her head and looked at him. "Still wondering if I can foresee the future?"
"If you don't believe me, come to me and I can show you part of your future."
It has to be said that after following Gino for so long, Clark has become much bolder.
In the past, he would have shyly declined.
But now, Clark shrugged: "Why not? I'm actually quite curious about the future."
The young man walked towards the old woman.
"Stretch out your hand."
Cassandra gestured for Clark to extend his hand, and Clark did not hesitate to extend his right arm for the old lady to hold.
The woman's cold hand made Clark raise an eyebrow slightly, but the next moment, a blinding white light flashed before his eyes.
Like a dazed state after exhaustion.
The surrounding furniture was distorted, and the light and colors around us were fading into darkness.
After a brief period of darkness.
A ray of light illuminates my eyes.
Clark discovered that he could see again.
But when he looked ahead, the big boy stared blankly with his mouth agape.
He found himself standing amidst ruins.
Not far away was a farm that had been reduced to ashes by the rising flames.
His own lonely fortress - the abandoned warehouse - tilted and collapsed.
Even more striking was the middle-aged woman lying in a pool of blood on the ground—his foster mother, Martha.
A purple arrow pierced the woman's abdomen, and she collapsed into Jonathan's kneeling arms, her eyes wide open.
In the distance lay a vast battlefield.
Wonder Woman, wielding her round shield and Lasso of Truth, battles a blond, muscular man wielding a hammer, each clash of fists and feet creating a shockwave.
Below the battlefield, he saw himself lifting up a screaming purple-masked man and tearing his body apart, like ripping a spicy snack, but instead of oil, blood and sticky entrails splattered out.
Further away, a black-haired girl was fighting a woman dressed in red, their silver and red magical energies intertwining in battle.
Further out on the grass, the Batman he knew was fighting a burly man dressed like a circus performer, with the American flag printed on his mask.
And then there's Lex, piloting a green suit of armor he somehow acquired, fighting against a figure clad in gold and red armor.
This horrific scene was frozen in Clark's eyes like a traditional Chinese ink painting.
Looking at all this,
Looking at the dead Martha, and at himself, driven by grief and rage, committing murder.
Clark, floating in mid-air, stared blankly at everything, his eyes filled with shock and disbelief.
"No, that's impossible!"
Clark shook his head frantically; he couldn't believe any of this would happen in the future.
"With Gino around, none of this could happen!"
He kept repeating those words to himself, but the real scene in front of him seemed to melt away like ice and snow, as if some unknown being had erased the image with an eraser.
"Whoosh!"
Gasping for breath, Clark suddenly stood up.
"Clark?"
A familiar female voice rang in Clark's ears.
The boy looked up blankly, only to be met with a concerned face: "Are you alright?"
Lana looked at Clark. Just now, the moment Ms. Cassandra grasped Clark's hand, the big boy seemed to have lost his soul and his body stiffened as he squatted on the ground.
"I...I'm fine." Clark forced a smile and replied to Lana, "I was just thinking about something."
Despite his reluctance to admit it, the scene he had just witnessed was like a sharp thorn buried deep within Clark's heart, filling him with dread.
If he were to ask himself if this scenario actually happened to him, would he be able to accept it?
Moreover, would he really kill someone in a fit of rage?
The question had only gone through Clark's mind once before he had a definite answer.
If Martha dies, he really will go on a killing spree.
Clark shares the same attitude towards family members as Gino.
Both Jonathan and Martha seem to defy aging.
Thinking of Clark, he clenched his fist.
"Whether that scene is about to happen or not, I will not allow anyone to hurt them."
