Chapter 179 Theft and Thieves
[You need to be careful. A kid with superhuman speed has been hanging around Metropolis lately, and he claims to know you and me.]
Smallville town.
Sofa in the castle lobby.
Lana was still pleading with Gino to bring Clark back.
Gino closed his phone, a thoughtful look flashing across his face.
Speedster? Know yourself?
Just like Clark's doubts, Gino also doesn't remember having such a person in his memory.
He, Keno Luther, was a young man in his early twenties with no bad habits. He neither smoked nor drank, had very few friends, and didn't remember any little brats at all.
The boy shook his head and looked up at Lana.
The girl was biting her lip, her face full of sorrow.
"He's in the Metropolis." Gino sighed, not understanding why Lana was so determined to find Clark.
Are they afraid Clark will run off with someone else?
"The exact location?" Lana's eyes gleamed with anticipation.
Gino shrugged. "I don't know. I only know he's in the Metropolitan."
Just as they were talking, they heard a noise coming from the stairs.
"Da da da~"
Like the tapping of slippers on the floor, a maid's panicked voice rang out from the second floor: "Miss Kara, please slow down!"
Lana and Chloe looked in the direction of the sound and saw a blonde girl playing hopscotch like a child, hopping and skipping down the stairs.
"Da~"
Stepping lightly into the lobby on the first floor, Kara, dressed in a simple, homey outfit, blinked her bright, lively eyes.
Wearing a cashmere shirt and black slim-fit trousers, the girl glanced around, ignoring Lana's surprised expression and Chloe's stunned look, her gaze settling on the figure sitting on the sofa. A sweet smile appeared on Kara's face.
"Gino!"
The girl ran towards Gino, then lightly jumped onto the sofa, sinking her small body into it. She reached out and wrapped her arms around Gino's, looking at him earnestly.
Under everyone's gaze, Carla parted her red lips slightly, stared at Gino with her large eyes, and said in a serious tone, "I'm hungry!"
Silence filled the hall, a subtle atmosphere permeating the space.
It was an awkward atmosphere, like being embarrassed in front of everyone in elementary school.
But Kara paid no attention to the subtle atmosphere, blinking her big eyes and pouting, she said, "I want to eat a chicken leg."
For Kara, it's all about expressing what she wants. This older brother named Gino doesn't seem like a bad person, so subconsciously, she already sees him as someone she can trust.
"Anna, take her to the kitchen." Gino reached out and pressed on Kara's forehead, pushing the girl away.
Soon a maid came and took Kara away.
However, the awkward atmosphere persisted.
Lana's face tightened as she glanced at Chloe, whose face was pale and who seemed to be in a daze.
With a slight sigh, Lana hesitated for a moment before asking, "That girl?"
"A friend."
Gino did not provide a detailed explanation to Lana's question.
"I... I suddenly remembered that Dad is going home for lunch, so I have to go home and cook." Chloe stood up abruptly, turned around, and walked out of the hall without looking back.
"You!" Lana glared at Gino with exasperation, then stood up and chased after Chloe.
Not long after the two women left, the old butler Jack strolled into the hall.
"Young Master."
The old butler said calmly, "Those two young ladies have already left."
He gazed in the direction of the manor gate, his voice tinged with regret: "Perhaps this is the last time I will see Miss Chloe."
"Alright, butler, go about your business." Gino ignored the butler's sentiments and took out his phone to dial Clark's other hidden number.
After a few busy tones, the call was connected.
"Hello?" Clark's voice rang out.
Gino gripped the phone tightly:
Tell me about the boy.
....
back kitchen.
"I want to eat this, that, and that!"
Holding the menu handed to her by the old housekeeper, Kara's eyes lit up as she pointed at the dishes.
These are all foods that have never been found on Krypton before.
The kitchen staff worked diligently, and soon, dishes were placed on the tables.
The fragrant steak was cut open, and Kara gripped her fork, her big eyes fixed on the steak on the plate.
Rubbing her eyes, the girl smiled excitedly: "I'm going to eat you up!"
Insert the fork.
A tooth-ache-inducing sound rang out.
The cutlery scraped against the plate, making a piercing, loud noise.
Kara stared blankly at the plate on the table; the steak that had been on the plate had vanished.
"Um?"
The old butler, who was standing in the corner, also stared wide-eyed. Not only Kara, but he also saw the steak that had suddenly disappeared.
Carla put down her knife and fork, staring at the empty plate with only a few oil stains. The girl remained silent for a moment.
Immediately, Kara jumped off the table and ran out of the kitchen like a gust of wind, heading towards the hall.
"Okay, I understand."
As soon as Gino hung up the phone, he heard the sound of wind behind him.
"Gino! The steak's gone!" Kara ran up behind Gino and hugged his neck, exclaiming in horror, "The steak I put on my plate just vanished!"
"Disappeared?" Gino narrowed his eyes slightly, thinking of the speedster that Clark had mentioned to him before.
"Interesting." Gino stood up and patted Carla on the head. "Come on, I'll take you back to your steak."
.....
Luther Castle.
Beside the pool.
The boy with dyed yellow hair was eating a steak with gusto, savoring the aroma of the beef as he muttered to himself.
"The food at Uncle Gino's house is delicious. I don't know why my father wants me to stay away from his estate."
Bart dismissed it: "Uncle Gino doesn't seem as terrifying as he will be in the future."
Scenes from the future flashed through his mind: a towering figure who had built a powerful organization spanning countless worlds, and was even revered as a god because of his immense power.
The boy ate the steak very quickly, finishing the whole steak in just two or three bites.
He stood up, and the familiar golden lightning enveloped the boy's body once more. He then planned to use his speed boost to find some more food in the kitchen.
"Whoosh!"
Bart instinctively closed his eyes and started moving his legs.
Golden lightning flashed, but the familiar sound of the wind blowing past one's ears did not come.
"Huh?" Bart opened his eyes in confusion, only to find himself still standing in the same spot.
"What happened?" The boy stared wide-eyed, unable to believe that he had been running in place.
He accelerated again, but the surrounding air felt like a thick swamp, holding him back.
His proud speed was restrained by the invisible air, and the enormous force made Bart's face turn red with effort, but he could not break free even a little.
"No, no way."
A bitter look appeared on Bart's flushed face, and a bad feeling crept into his heart.
A cold voice sounded from behind, and a tall figure appeared behind the boy at some point, his arms, seemingly made of cast iron, gently gripping the boy's neck: "Unauthorized trespassing."
A chilling killing intent swept over him like a tsunami, and Bart heard a voice behind him:
Give me a reason not to kill you.
