Chapter 128 Red Kryptonite
Chapter 128 Red Kryptonite
There's no need to elaborate further; Ms. Atkins's fate was sealed.
The flames aimed at the soul consumed the woman's soul, leaving only a soulless shell.
The ultimate destination of this body is Lex's secret laboratory, where research on the body will further advance human biology.
The second day after school started.
"Nothing represents the spirit of our school better than a Puff Daddy-style ring."
In the bustling corridor, Chloe dangled the gold ring on the middle finger of her right hand at Lana.
"Wow, it really is beautiful."
"Assuming this thing doesn't break before graduation."
Pete suddenly appeared out of nowhere, jokingly saying, "A bunch of graduates made this out of shards of glass, and you're the only ones who treat it like a treasure."
Chloe glared at Pete: "If you shut up, no one will think you're mute."
Pete raised his hands: "I surrender."
What are you all talking about?
Clark's voice came from the crowd. The tall and burly Clark squeezed through the crowd and came to the group.
His hair was disheveled and messy, and his eyes were bloodshot, making him look like he had just had a hangover.
The moment Pete and Troy saw Clark, they turned and left without saying a word, still embroiled in a conflict that couldn't be resolved anytime soon.
Clark rubbed his eyes and noticed the ring Chloe was wearing.
Chloe frowned; she could smell a strong odor of alcohol on Clark's blue shirt. "You look terrible. Have you been drinking?"
"More or less," Clark replied vaguely, but deep down he quite liked the feeling of a hangover. There weren't too many worries or anxieties.
So after Gino left, Clark, upon waking up, did not pour out the wine from the barrel, but instead hid it.
"Okay, but what's going on between you and Nana? Did you have a fight?" Chloe blinked, looking gossipy.
"Uh, it's nothing."
Clark gave a vague answer.
Wow, there are so many people!
A familiar voice sounded from behind Chloe. The girl froze for a moment, but then quickly walked away.
"Did you have a fight?"
Clark looked at his friend who walked up to him, and then at Chloe's departing figure, both with the same gossipy expression.
"She's not my girlfriend, what's the problem?"
Gino shrugged, his attitude casual.
He pointed to the student platform not far away, where a long queue had already formed, and asked:
"What are you doing?"
"They're selling graduation rings; it's a tradition at Smallville High School," Clark said excitedly. He asked Gino for his opinion, "Do you think if I buy a pair and give one to Lana, it might ease the tension between us?"
Gino raised an eyebrow and smiled: "Good idea, we can give it a try."
"Then what are we waiting for?" Not yet. Clearly excited from his hangover, Clark put his arm around Gino like a best buddy, and the two walked toward the crowd, intending to queue up to buy a necklace.
Are you sure?
Gino glanced at the sales counter, where rows of colorful rings were displayed in a glass case, each labeled "350," indicating that the rings were not cheap.
If Clark rashly spends that money on a flashy but impractical ring, he might face criticism from Jonathan.
Clark scoffed, puffed out his chest, and said, "That's my money, and I have the right to decide how to spend it."
The wait wasn't too long; after all, 350 is a significant expense for most American high school students.
When it was Gino and Clark's turn, only a green gemstone ring and a deep red ring remained in the merchandise display case.
"I want the red one."
Clark had a red ring on his finger; he hated green more than anything in his life, as it always reminded him of unpleasant memories.
The student in charge of sales quickly completed the registration and handed the red ring to Clark.
Lana, the former captain of the cheerleading team and an outstanding student, was always loved by the teachers.
"I know the first day at a new school is tough, so please feel free to ask if you have any questions."
Lana was walking down the school corridor talking to a blonde girl who was wearing a non-mainstream black miniskirt and heavy eyeshadow.
"so."
The non-mainstream girl chewed gum, looking around with disdain.
"What else does your school do besides pulling tractors and doing those old-fashioned dances?"
As a girl who moved from a big city to a small town, she obviously could not adapt to the poor educational facilities and local customs of the town's high school.
Her gaze swept across the queue, and in an instant, her eyes were drawn to Gino and Clark at the very front.
The girl stopped and looked at Gino with some amazement: "Who is that handsome guy in the white shirt?"
Lana looked in the direction the girl was pointing, and when she realized that the girl was referring to Gino, a helpless, bitter smile appeared on her face.
That guy is always like that; wherever he goes, he's popular with girls. It seems like wherever he is, it's his home turf.
"Wow, you have great taste."
Lana felt a pang of jealousy, but she maintained a polite smile and said, "However, he's quite the celebrity on campus."
Why?
"Because his last name is Luther, Gino Luther."
"Okay, the infamous Luther family. The rice cooker in my house is made by them." The girl shrugged. She knew her own abilities and resources. This kind of rich second-generation was something she could only dream of.
"And what about the guy next to him? The one in the cheap blue shirt with the goofy grin on his face?"
Hearing the woman's words, Lana felt a little nervous.
"He, he..."
"Um?"
"Ahem, his name is Clark Kent," Lana said casually. "But I heard he has someone he likes."
Just kidding, it's one thing to have a conflict with Clark, but I absolutely cannot let a third party steal Clark away.
"Interesting." The girl looked at Clark intently.
Meanwhile, Clark, who was being discussed by Lana and the other two girls, also picked up the ring on his hand.
The silver band is adorned with a deep red gemstone. It has a moderate weight, but feels quite substantial to the touch.
"It looks cool."
Clark extended his middle finger and looped it around his knuckle.
Clark twirled his left hand around, nodding in satisfaction: "The size is just right!"
However, a hidden crimson energy was extending upwards along the blood vessels in Clark's fingers, spreading rapidly throughout Clark's entire body.
The big boy couldn't help but tremble and his body shook violently.
The next moment, a strange emotion began to grow in Clark's heart.
He couldn't describe the wonderful feeling, but if he had to put it into words, it was like walking into a lottery shop and winning ten million dollars, or like a hungry traveler eating a delicious meal.
Every cell in my body is screaming for freedom.
Those suppressed thoughts in my heart melted away like ice and snow.
Clark just wanted to shout out loud and vent his inexplicable pleasure.
Clark clenched his fist, a sinister smile on his face: "I can do whatever I want!"
