Chapter 74 Summary

Volume Two is finished, so let's do a summary as usual.

The length of this volume is acceptable, and it's basically a double-line structure. Overall, I'm satisfied.

However, there were some minor issues with the pacing. For example, the scenes where Murphy discovers the Auror investigation for the second time, and the pressure from Muggle society, were originally intended to be two small crises to create a sense of escalating tension. But they were too repetitive and felt formulaic, which might cause reader fatigue. I myself didn't want to write them, so I merged them together.

Because of this merger, the order of some parts of my storyline changed, and the insertion of the agent's side story felt a bit abrupt, but it eased the overall tension.

However, since the confrontation hasn't reached its climax yet, the impact isn't significant.

Regarding the plot...

The protagonist's path contradicts the general thinking of the wizards; he is someone who wants to break the order of the wizarding world, so it is inevitable that he will stand against the Aurors.

At the same time, the Aurors are different from so-called pure-blood nobles like the Malfoy. They act based on their own sense of justice, and as Murphy's enemies, they are actually respectable.

The conflict between Murphy and the Aurors can be seen as a clash of ideologies, which is why I wanted to portray the Aurors in a more positive light. From their perspective, Murphy was truly a ruthless dark wizard who would stop at nothing.

Scrimgeour and Kingsley's personalities actually differ somewhat from those in my book and the original work. However, firstly, there are very few named characters, so there are too few to choose from. Secondly, this can be seen as a difference caused by the different timelines in the original work.

But overall, I don't think I've strayed from the essential characteristics of these two characters.

Scrimgeour was serious and rigid, but in the original story, he died to keep Harry's secret. He was a fearless and undaunted figure, worthy of the name Auror.

I've always really liked this character; the complexity of his personality makes him more appealing to me than the average Order of the Phoenix.

In this volume, under duress, he stepped forward and took responsibility for his subordinates, a small tribute to his spirit of sacrifice in the original work.

In the original novel, Kingsley is more gentle and composed, a more shrewd and calculating character who exudes calmness. However, at this moment, he is still younger than he was then. He already possesses power and talent, but he has not yet developed enough patience and deeper wisdom. The protagonist helps him fill this gap.

In the future, he will undoubtedly be an even stronger opponent on Murphy's path forward.

The protagonist is growing, and the enemies are not static either.

Although Murphy is the main character, the same event can have different meanings depending on who sees it.

I hope I can write a story where characters act according to their own will and beliefs, rather than the kind of feel-good novel where everyone, friend or foe, is just a tool. Maybe I'm not a teenager anymore; that kind of "feel-good" feeling doesn't come easily to me anymore…
