Chapter 71 Big News

"We have no choice but to deal with cunning criminals!" said one Auror. "Skeeter, why don't you listen to the testimony of this Mr. Alex?"

"Alex, repeat everything you just confessed!" Auror commanded.

"I... my name is Alex Wood. I work for Murphy Darkholm. I..." Alex swayed unsteadily in his chair, "I made potions for him and sold them to... Mado..."

“He’s a Muggle!” the Auror corrected. “The truth serum makes him a little slurred, but that doesn’t affect the veracity of his testimony. Murphy Darkholm, what else do you have to say?”

Murphy frowned, glancing at Alex, then at Barty Crouch, and finally at Kingsley. "Is this what you call testimony, Captain Kingsley?"

"What? You still want to deny it?"

Murphy took a step forward, but was stopped by the Auror, who looked at Alex and said, "I'm asking you, where did you make your potions, and how did you sell them to Muggles?"

"I...I don't know...I don't know..."

"Then what evidence do you have to prove everything you've said?"

"I...I don't know, I don't know..."

Alex suddenly clutched his chest, "It hurts... my chest hurts so much..."

"Didn't you say I was selling potions to Muggles? How did I sell them to them, and how many did I sell? What proof do you have?" Murphy continued to press.

"I don't know, I don't know, they didn't tell me..." Alex suddenly began to struggle violently. "It hurts! It hurts! Help! Help..."

"Murphy, you..." Kingsley thought Murphy had done something to Alex and was about to scold him.

But Murphy shouted even faster than him, "What did you do to him! Stop it! Are you trying to silence him?!"

Kingsley was stunned.

I'll silence them?

Why would I silence him?

However, Alex struggled more and more violently, screaming pitifully, "No, please, I know, I'm Alex! Stop! Please, I remember! I work for Murphy, please, stop..."

All the Aurors were stunned, not understanding what had happened.

Rita Skeeter was also stunned by this sudden turn of events, but her journalistic instincts quickly brought her back to her senses, and she had the photographer snap several photos.

Big news!

This is big news!

"What spell did you cast on him? The Cruciatus Curse?" Murphy demanded.

"What?!" Kingsley stared in shock at the scene before him. "Impossible! He must be cursed! Quick! Break the curse!"

Murphy raised an eyebrow, his reaction was quite quick.

But it was too late.

His consciousness followed the magical link connecting him to "Alex" and issued the command, "Well done, now you can die, Yzak."

Yes, the so-called "Alex" is just Izak, who was captured and had plastic surgery a few days ago.

After enduring countless Legilimency and Oblivion Curses, he had been tormented by Murphy into a puppet who only knew how to repeat a few lines.

Now, the puppet's performance is over, and it's time for it to leave the stage.

The magic of the Thorn Oath flowed into Yzak's body through the link, instantly detonating the curse implanted within him. Yzak felt as if he had suddenly fallen into a thicket of thorns, with thorns even sprouting from his internal organs. Countless thorns wrapped around him, tightened around him, and then twisted violently.

Ytzhak suddenly let out a heart-wrenching scream, then his eyes rolled back and he stopped breathing.

"Stop the curse! Stop the curse!" An Auror chanted several dispelling spells at Yzak, but there was no response. "Boss, he's not breathing!"

"A healer! Quick! Go get a healer!" Kingsley shouted.

"You killed him!" Murphy shouted. "What methods did you use to force him to say those words?!"

"What?! What nonsense are you talking about!" The Aurors were still reeling from the shock of Alex's sudden death.

"Did you curse him?" Murphy demanded. "You forced him to say those things, and then cursed him to prevent him from letting it slip when questioned!"

"Us? To curse him?" an Auror chuckled angrily. "Why would we curse him?!"

"Of course, it's to make him say those things, to make him prove that I'm a criminal!"

"Nonsense!" Kingsley roared. "It must be you! You cursed him to keep his secret!"

The burly Black man glared at Murphy. "Murphy Darkholm! You're ruthless! He's your assistant! He has family to take care of! How could you..."

"Captain Kingsley, you have a deep-seated prejudice against me." Murphy met his gaze fearlessly. "What evidence do you have that I killed him? In my opinion, he was illegally arrested by you, subjected to secret interrogation, and then suddenly died! You are the ones who killed him! The one who should be held responsible for his death is you!"

"Damn it!" Kingsley was furious; for the first time, he felt such hatred for someone.

The boy in front of me was only eighteen or nineteen years old, but he was already like a human demon. He disregarded the lives of others as if they were mere weeds or insects, and he ignored all laws and rules!

He's practically a carbon copy of the Dark Lord!

Kingsley couldn't resist the urge to pounce on him and punch that arrogant face hard.

"stop!"

Barty Crouch stopped him.

"Are you insane, Kingsley! This is the Ministry of Magic! This is the Auror's office! Not a place for you to fight!"

Kingsley forced himself to calm down and said to Crouch, "Chief, you heard Alex's testimony just now. The evidence against Murphy Darkholm is conclusive. I request his immediate arrest!"

"Oh? And then what? Continue to torture me until I confess my crimes and then suddenly die?" Murphy scoffed.

"Shut up!" Crouch yelled at Murphy. "Summon experts immediately to investigate Alex's death. No one is to leave Auror headquarters until the cause of his death is determined!"

However, no sooner had he finished speaking than a wizard suddenly burst in.

"Davis?" Crouch looked at the man, somewhat puzzled. "What are you doing here?"

The young wizard named Davis simply nodded to Crouch, then approached Murphy with a smile and said, "Mr. Murphy, I am Davis Prude, the minister's secretary. The minister asked me to inform you that Mr. Alex Wood has just been found. He recently traveled to Germany via the International Flood Network's special fireplace to visit relatives."

"What?" Murphy exclaimed in astonishment. "Are you sure? Are you sure it's Alex Wood himself?"

Now everyone in the interrogation room looked at Davis.

The latter seemed somewhat confused, but still said, "Yes, it's Alex Wood. We've seen his application for a transnational flying route, and the staff member in charge of that fireplace was a classmate of Alex, which also confirmed it's him."

In an instant, the interrogation room became so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

"If Alex went to Germany," Murphy said, glancing at the corpse behind Kingsley, "then who was this person?"

Rita Skeeter was also shocked.

Did the Aurors arrest the wrong person? And even kill them?

Good guy!

Big news!

This is absolutely going to be a huge hit!

"Quick! Quick! What are you waiting for? Take a picture! Take a picture!"
