Chapter 57: Four Stages
Chapter 57 Four Stages
Andrew Tucker then went on to explain the advantages of the deformation approach.
First, shapeshifting is more versatile than other forms of magic. Ordinary spells and potions usually have only one fixed effect, but shapeshifting is very comprehensive. For example, if you shapeshift into an eagle, you will have all the abilities of an eagle, including its highly observant eyes and the ability to fly. In some cases, you can even use it to evade enemy pursuit.
Transformation, as a functional form of magic, has a wide range of applications, and its effects sometimes depend on the user's creativity, making it very cost-effective.
Secondly, Andrew believes that it is clearly impossible for wizards to become gods, or to become omniscient and omnipotent, relying on the weak physical bodies of wizards today, which are almost indistinguishable from ordinary Muggles.
Any dangerous spell or any explosive potion could cause a wizard to die suddenly.
At the same time, most spells and potions are temporary. To permanently enhance physical attributes, strengthen defense and attack power, and so on, which involves changing oneself, it is difficult to do without the support of Transfiguration.
Third, if this approach is built around Animagus, it might retain the advantages of Animagus transformation: no preparation required, can be cast without a staff, and has a very short casting animation, making it more advantageous in dealing with unexpected situations.
Fourth, compared to the more elusive spells, the development of Transfiguration will be aided by the biochemical technology accumulated in the Muggle world, and its basic logic can still be roughly guessed, so it won't be turned into a black box.
In summary, this is probably the most practical and feasible approach at present.
"Based on my conjecture, the transformation process can actually be divided into four stages," Andrew envisioned. "The first stage is the biological stage."
"At this stage, wizards can transform into any creature and, through partial transformation or functional specialization transformation, possess the unique abilities of various creatures, including all kinds of magical creatures."
"This stage can actually be divided into many topics such as animal transformation, magical creature transformation, plant transformation, and even microbial transformation, which may have a certain order. Through local transformation, functional specialization, and functional combination, we arrive at the final stage of the biological stage: fantasy creature transformation."
"A wizard can transform into any creature he imagines, including but not limited to a nine-headed fire dragon or a three-headed, six-armed demon god."
"The second stage is the non-biological stage."
"Transfiguration can transform living beings into non-living things. If non-living things could also be included in the scope of transformation, then wizards could possess true titanium bodies, and even transform into various Muggle technological creations at will, thereby possessing various technological abilities such as jet flight, laser eyes, hydraulic hammers, and even reaching the level of hand-crafting nuclear bombs and mechanical ascension."
"The third stage is the element stage."
"According to our current understanding of physics, all matter is actually vibrating particles. The reason we can feel the existence of matter is because there are interaction forces between the particles."
"Our perception of matter is mostly due to the action of electromagnetic forces. In other words, objects do not actually exist; they are actually the movement of countless particles in a field."
"When a wizard can transform into any substance at will, they enter this stage. A wizard can change the form of their own matter, freely combine various particles, and switch between various states of matter at will."
"When a wizard exists in a solid state, he can be a stone, a sword, or a mountain; when he exists in a liquid state, he can be a basin of water, a drop of mercury, or a river of lava; when he exists in a gaseous state, he can be a gust of wind, a can of gas, or a wisp of nerve gas; he can also exist in a plasma state, where he becomes fire, lightning, or the aurora."
"He could even evolve into a fifth state, becoming a white dwarf-like substance, incapable of being harmed in the slightest by anything human. And his mere existence could destroy everything in the world."
"Perhaps, it could eventually become matter like a neutron star? We don't know; this is already a blind spot in our knowledge."
"If reaching the ultimate state of matter is not the end, then perhaps only the fourth stage: the stage of emptiness, is the final end."
"The wizard of that time was no longer matter, nor energy, nor even a field. He was the quantum fluctuation of the vacuum, he was the Dirac Sea, he was the wave function, he became destiny."
"At that time, he could probably be considered omniscient and omnipotent."
……
"Your idea is very interesting." After the speech, Murphy approached Andrew Tucker.
"Actually, I'm not quite sure yet..." Andrew became nervous again once social distancing was implemented. "Thank you for your compliment."
Murphy smiled, unconcerned. "I'd like you to form a research group on transformation pathways to verify your theory. What do you think?"
"Really?!" Andrew exclaimed excitedly. "Of course I'd love to!"
"Very good. You can choose any researcher you like, as long as they're willing," Murphy said. "Tell me what equipment or materials you need, and I'll try my best to provide them. Do you have a general research plan?"
"Yes! Of course! I've been thinking about this for a long time! First of all, our core is the Animagus, but the transformation of Animagus takes too long. We also need to consider other aspects. I plan to start with the transformation between werewolves and vampires, because this is also a permanent change, and it can also add some magical properties to the shapeshifter. It's very valuable for reference. If we could get some vampire blood or werewolf body tissue, that would be great..."
Andrew spoke rapidly for a while, then suddenly realized that his boss was standing in front of him, and he choked up.
"I'm sorry, Director, I just can't control myself when I get excited..."
"That's a testament to your focus," Murphy said. "Andrew, you're a genius. I'll prepare everything you need, have Laura help you build your team, and then we'll start testing your theories!"
……
The idea of a transformation pathway thrilled Murphy so much that when he met Patrick, the smile on his face hadn't faded.
"What, did something good happen?"
Patrick has had a hard time seeing his boss lately, but Umbrella Corporation now has several hundred employees and is operating very smoothly under his leadership, so Murphy's presence or absence doesn't make much difference.
"Yes, that's great news," Murphy said.
"What a coincidence, I also have good news to tell you."
