Chapter 462 Taking the Hook

Even though Cú Chulainn unknowingly used up a third of his magic power in that one strike, he didn't feel any regret and even wanted to do it again.

At the same time, the divine children were also stunned by the move he had just displayed.

Even their fathers, those true gods, would have needed an immense amount of effort to perform such earth-shattering magic, yet Cú Chulainn accomplished it immediately after coming into contact with the magic network.

They eagerly recited the registration incantation, ready to try out this magical net.

Seeing the excited children of the gods, Murphy also showed a cheerful smile.

Great, the fish has taken the bait.

The convenience of the Magic Network is comparable to that of a future mobile phone, and even surpasses it in many aspects. Once you start using it, it's hard to quit.

This will provide the magic network with a continuous supply of magic power.

Through the observations of the divine child, the gods behind them will soon realize the power of the magic network. No magic user can resist such temptation, and it will only be a matter of time before they personally intervene.

As for the gods, Murphy left them a surprise within the magic network.

……

The gods didn't keep Murphy waiting too long.

Just five days after the magic network node was completed, Murphy was teaching his thirteen disciples when he suddenly felt a vast magical aura descend upon the camp.

A goddess, her graceful figure draped in black gauze, appeared in the crowd at some unknown time. She strolled past the wizards' smelting workshop, and phantoms emerged from her body, observing from various angles the wizards chanting various spells to forge crude copper ingots into magical ores. Then, one after another, the phantoms returned and merged with her.

Seemingly unwilling to let mortals witness her arrival, the shamans in the camp were completely unaware of the goddess's coming.

She arrived outside Murphy's tent where he was lecturing, but he did not stop teaching. Instead, he continued to explain how to replicate the Magic Network nodes.

The area affected by an ordinary magic network node expands with the magic power flowing inside, but the coverage of a node is limited. To use the magic network in a larger area, more nodes or secondary nodes must be built.

This was an extremely tedious and lengthy task, and Murphy did not intend to do it himself, but rather to leave this world-class project to the wizards.

He has left many tool spells in the magic network nodes to produce more magic network nodes, such as spells to facilitate wizards to smelt orchards, spells to extract polar magic, rituals to combine materials into magic network node modules, and spells to merge magic network nodes into the magic network.

Murphy has already planned the blueprints for the construction of the magic network. Wizards only need to follow the steps of these incantations and rituals to build the magic network nodes and connect them to the magic network.

Even so, the work of creating the magic network is still very complicated. Murphy has already given two or three training sessions, but the wizards still have not been able to create a qualified level two magic network node.

After explaining the difficult steps again, Murphy answered a few questions the wizards had, and then dismissed them.

Then he stood up. "Your Excellency Lady of War, Phantom Queen, I apologize for keeping you waiting."

As soon as he finished speaking, the Phantom Queen Morrigan appeared in the tent. She had long, jet-black hair, and her body was wrapped in layers of black gauze. Her beautiful face stared at Murphy, her expression both searching and scrutinizing.

Contrary to her appearance, her voice was hoarse and low, like the dying breath of an old woman, which was unsettling. She asked, "Who are you?"

"A name is just a symbol. Now they call me Merlin," Murphy said.

"Merlin is someone I created myself; you are not him," Morrigan denied, though her expression remained unchanged.

Murphy shrugged, deciding not to argue about it. If the other party really came to confront him, there was no need to wait outside for so long.

Morrigan realized that the person before her was not afraid of her power, which was not surprising, so she said, "I created him and endowed him with magical powers. He is the most skilled in magic among all the children of the gods. But he is far inferior to you."

"Thank you for your compliment."

"Where does your power come from?" Morrigan asked.

"Knowledge and reason, nothing else."

Several phantoms emerged from Morrigan's body and surrounded Murphy, scrutinizing him from head to toe. Eventually, the phantoms returned to her body.

The other person wasn't lying, but this was clearly not the answer she wanted.

However, she didn't come for an answer.

"What do you want?" Morrigan asked. "Give me control of the Magic Web, and I'll give you everything you desire."

Murphy smiled. "That's impossible."

"Merlin," Morrigan uttered the name with a hint of sarcasm, "you are powerful, but you are only a mortal, while the power of the gods is boundless. You cannot stand against us."

In fact, Murphy has attained divinity more than once, such as the "One True God" when he first destroyed those nascent animal gods, or the "Awakened God" when he tried to enlighten all living beings, or the God of Deception, and so on.

But Murphy did not allow these divine qualities to taint him; instead, he used them merely as tools for storing and transforming spiritual energy, and occasionally perhaps even borrowed their properties to accomplish some concealment and arrangement.

Therefore, although he can wield the same power as the gods, and even the divine children cannot figure out his true nature, as long as he does not deliberately disguise himself as a god, he is still just an ordinary mortal.

Throughout history, there have been countless powerful mortal heroes, some of whom possessed strength comparable to that of gods. However, such power might make the gods wary, but it was not enough to instill fear in them.

This is exactly the result Murphy wanted.

If the power he has displayed has frightened even the gods, they will naturally be hesitant to jump into their trap. However, if he is merely a powerful mortal hero, he will not be seen as a threat by them.

"You misunderstand," Murphy said. "I am merely one of the creators of the Magic Network, not its controller. My purpose in creating the Magic Network was to enable wizards to better utilize their powers, not to seize power."

"The magic network has a simple feedback mechanism. The more magic power is injected, the more power it can return, just like how planting more seeds will yield more food. This process is spontaneous and does not rely on anyone's control, so I naturally cannot relinquish so-called control. With your abilities, you should be able to see that I am not lying."

“You didn’t lie, wizard, but you’ve concealed something. The magic network isn’t just what you say,” Morrigan appeared behind Murphy, sniffing his shoulder. “You have another enemy… a very powerful one… I smell a conspiracy, a tool… you’re using everyone… be careful, wizard, you’re playing with fire…”

Murphy fell silent, frowning as if he had been caught red-handed.

"I saw it, flames, war, cages... that scene..." Morrigan's hoarse voice whispered like a hag, "Heh heh, I think I know who you are, wizard..."

"Demons, Satan, Lucifer... So that's it, your enemy... is Him. Heh heh..." Morrigan chuckled deeply. "You've found yourself a formidable enemy, a wizard."

The goddess stood before Murphy again, her expression suddenly softening, and even her voice rapidly becoming younger, "But you are lucky."

"We have a common enemy," she said, her voice becoming like that of a young girl as she uttered the last word, "Come, Merlin, tell me what other powers you are hiding within this magic web."

"Come, join us, and I will give you eternal victory."
