Chapter 433

Underground bunker.

Reception room.

More than a dozen members of the Countermeasures Bureau surrounded William, but none of them felt the excitement of finally capturing the enemy leader; instead, they felt only tension and a slight sense of fear.

god!

Whether it's the constantly flashing "mental attack" notification in the system message, the glaring deep purple in the magic detection results, or the halo behind the other person's head, everything points to this.

In the various magical disasters that the Countermeasures Bureau has encountered, the mortality rate of each divine incident has reached almost 95% or more. Judging from the appearance of the other party and the cultural environment in which it exists, this one might be the most terrifying and powerful deity.

William remained calm and composed. Suddenly, he raised his head and said, "Since you're here, why not show yourself?"

As he spoke, the space seemed to expand, and the distance between everything was instantly increased a hundredfold. The previously impenetrable encirclement formed by the Countermeasures Bureau members suddenly became so sparse that dozens of trains could run side by side.

At the same time, a force split the soldiers into two groups, each retreating to the sides. The ground seemed to expand endlessly, and an incredibly wide road stretched out to the opposite doorway, with tables, chairs, and benches arranged on both sides.

The door suddenly opened.

But before the thing behind the door could reveal itself, a cold snort suddenly came from the other side.

Immediately afterwards, the expanding space contracted instantly, and in the blink of an eye, everything returned to its original position, as if nothing had happened.

"You should all go back first." Suddenly, a young, deep male voice came from behind the door.

Everyone was immediately pulled away by a force and teleported away.

William was left alone in the drawing room.

"Did Moses use the same trick he just used to part the Red Sea?"

With that sound, a metallic mechanical foot stepped through the door, and a humanoid machine, its body gleaming with metallic luster, slowly entered the room. With each step it took, its body became more refined.

The arms, originally made of rough steel pipes, suddenly grew strong carbon fiber muscles, and tubes were embedded in the body to become nerves. The huge backpack-like device on its back gradually shrank, and rings of titanium alloy ribs grew on its exterior. The head, which originally had only one huge camera, was also constantly deforming. The camera shrank and tilted to one side, while another camera grew on the other side. The injection-molded shell became a skull, and even hair-like fibers were materialized along with lightning.

In just a few seconds, a lump of iron was transformed into a bionic robot made entirely of carbonized steel.

The robot, over two meters tall like a giant, looked down at William. Its two camera-like eyes flickered, fixing on him. "You want to talk?"

"Amazing! I've never seen magic like that before..." William exclaimed. "You're certainly a very interesting human, Murphy. But did you come in this doll's body because you're afraid I'll attack your real body?"

"Heh." The mechanical giant opened its mouth, and the words that came out were still Murphy's voice, but with a steely resonance. "You overestimate yourself. You're nothing but an avatar here; how could you expect me to see your true form?"

As it spoke, a steel chair appeared in front of the giant, and it sat down. "Speak your mind. If you wait any longer, you won't have anything left to trade."

William smiled. "Why be our enemy, Murphy?"

"I have some spies on you. I heard you once wanted to become a god?" he said, stretching out a hand. Boundless light gathered in his palm and then transformed into a scepter, with supreme authority solidified on it, as if grasping it would immediately allow him to control the fate of the world.

"You are the most intelligent human I have ever seen, and your magical power is boundless. Even a true god would not stand a chance against you."

"But we don't have to be enemies. There are billions of people in this world. Such a huge population is enough to support two supreme gods."

"This is the key to faith. Take it, and you will become one of the Trinity. We will share supreme authority, and you will be all-knowing and all-powerful."

"You want to unify humanity and study magic, all in order to find knowledge, and this knowledge is also within that."

The giant gazed at the gleaming scepter, upon which various magical energies flowed, representing the ultimate colors of the mind and spirit in perfect harmony. It encompassed all concepts, ideals, and emotions; it was a collection of divine duties, encompassing all the realms of the gods, such as war, love, death, fertility, and agriculture.

"So that's how it is. You devoured all those ancient gods?" the giant said.

"Their thoughts still flicker in my mind, and their divine power and authority remain in my divine strength. They have not died, but are with me."

“Moreover, you are different from them,” William said. “You are qualified to stand beside me above them. Your soul is unique. I will give you the authority of the Son of God and share the Holy Spirit with me. We are not different in divine power and authority.”

"In that case, why don't I be the father and you be the son?" the giant laughed.

William still smiled, but his expression turned cold. "Murphy, no one has ever received such favor from God. You should know that my followers are all over the world. They are my resources and extensions. You may win for a time, but humanity will never perish, and faith will never die. If you fight against me, you will only face defeat and death."

"Faith is immortal?" Murphy sneered. "Perhaps so, but faith in God is not necessarily so."

"Humans are fond of ease and averse to work," the god said. "Sloth is the first evil of mankind. There will always be people who hope to gain without working, and the human heart is never satisfied. There are always endless desires. This is the deficiency of the human heart, and we gods dwell in this."

"The ancient gods lured people with protection and blessings, and frightened them with killing and evil deeds, inspiring awe and compelling them to believe and worship. But in the end, it all came down to a low level. The relationship between humans and gods was merely a bond of interests. Once there was no more profit to be gained, the gods were discarded like worn-out shoes."

"How could one not know that the human mind is even more lazy, and that the human being is naturally inclined to drift along with the tide, living day to day? But the awakening of the mind is like breaking out of a cocoon and being reborn, the pain of which is greater than peeling off skin and dismembering bones, and the suffering is even greater than the bitterness of gall. Therefore, there are few enlightened people in the world, and all living beings are busy and indifferent."

"I transmit the faith, without blessing, without calamity, without promising victory, without ruling over any profession; I merely soothe the heart. I tell all the lazy that there is no need for the pain of breaking free from the cocoon; I am the ultimate, I am the truth, I am love, I am hope, I am the afterlife, I am meaning, I am everything! To believe in me is enlightenment, is liberation, is sublimation, is immortality!"

"The finish line is in sight, the fruit is in our hands—who could refuse such an easy victory?"

"As long as a person remains a person, I will never perish or die, for thousands of years, for countless eons, I will remain the same."

The giant looked at him. "So now you understand why I must be your enemy."

William frowned and fell silent.

"No matter the meaning, no matter the life, no matter the truth, no matter the ultimate goal, it can only be obtained through arduous journeys, painful struggles, and the negation of negation."

"A butterfly whose cocoon is broken by external force can never fly, because it is through the struggle that it becomes stronger."

"The ending is not important; the process is everything."

"Even if you could immediately tell a prehistoric man the Grand Unified Field Theory, what use would it be to him?"

"We already know the ultimate answers to life, the universe, and everything, but the long questions that preceded them are what we are searching for."

"But you ruined the process."

"Moreover, the result you gave, the answer you provided, is nothing but a hypocritical, self-deceiving bubble."

"You, and the so-called god, are nothing but parasites that dwell on the gaps in people's hearts, sucking rotten pus and blood, and using venom as a host to relieve pain."

"These maggots dare to call themselves gods? Daring to boast of being omniscient and omnipotent?"

"Our paths are fundamentally different."

"You lot, I will surely destroy you!"
