Chapter 410 The Power Seizure
Chapter 409 Divine Calamity
A month later.
The Isle of Man in the Irish Sea.
In a small coastal village, David Watson, Maurice Kent, and Elena Joyce, dressed in black suits, showed their identification to the godfather. "CBI, Special Investigations Bureau, we've received a report that someone has gone missing in the village?"
"Ah, yes, Benson and Darcy, they were missing for a few days, but they're back now," the Godfather said.
"You're back?" David looked at the other person suspiciously.
"Yes, yes, they just swam a little too far and were washed ashore on the south side of the beach by the waves. They were delayed for two days before returning. They didn't really go missing."
"But the reports we received mentioned that a human foot wearing shoes was found on the beach, and they suspected it was a murder."
"The one who reported it was Elma, a crazy woman. She always fantasizes about some evil forces or something. We all know that's just a fantasy. In a country ruled by God, there is no place for evil forces."
"Where are Benson and Darcy now?" David asked. "Let's go find out."
"I'm sorry, they were frightened before and may not want to see anyone."
"Oh. Well then, Father," David shrugged. "In that case, we'll head back now. It seems nothing significant has happened here."
"Really? Okay, then take care, everyone."
David took a couple of steps, then seemed to remember something and pulled out something that looked like a Polaroid camera. "I almost forgot, we need to leave some evidence to prove we were here, you know, it's official procedure. Would you mind taking a picture of me, Father?"
"Oh? Oh, okay, please."
David pointed the camera at the priest, pressed the shutter, and a moment later, a Polaroid photo was printed out. David pulled it out, glanced at it, and smiled. "I took a really good photo. Look at you, Father, you look so majestic."
As he spoke, David handed the photograph to the priest, who took it and glanced at it. Whether it was a problem with David's shooting technique or the camera, the photograph was very blurry, but one could vaguely make out the appearance of a man standing on the lawn. On the man's chest and abdomen, some strange colors formed rows of things that looked like arthropods.
"What...is this?" The priest was suddenly filled with fear.
"I want to know too," David said, suddenly pulling out a shotgun from somewhere, pressing it against the photograph, and pulling the trigger.
"Bang!" The photograph, and the priest's head behind it, were blown apart by the shotgun shell, leaving a headless corpse lying on the ground.
"That easy?" Morris was taken aback.
He had just seen that photo too. In the photo taken by the magic detection camera, the magic color on the other person's chest and abdomen was a deep purple, which indicated that his magic level was very high.
But as soon as he finished speaking, the priest's corpse on the ground suddenly twitched. Then, with two cracking sounds, all four of his limbs snapped and bent backward, supporting the headless body. His clothes on his chest and abdomen were also torn open, and his ribs, covered with flesh and blood, stretched out and bent down, turning into limbs like crab legs, which also supported the ground.
The monster lifted the priest's leg, like a crab waving its two pincers.
"What is this thing..." Morris was stunned by the horrifying scene.
But David had already loaded several enchanted bullets into the shotgun. "You're in luck, Morris. This is a Divine Blood!"
After saying that, he fired a shot that sent the crab-like man flying several meters away, then grabbed Morris and started running wildly toward the dock.
"Elena, how's the telepathic communication? Can you send a message?!"
"No! The communications are being jammed!"
David gritted his teeth. In some magical disasters, due to the violent fluctuations in magic, the stability of telepathic communication was always insufficient. However, there were still ways to resolve the issue. "There's a magical radio station on the ship..."
But before he could finish speaking, a massive figure emerged from the water on the distant shore. Its enormous pincers gripped the boat they had been on, lifted it into the air, and then snapped it in two as if breaking a toy.
The giant crab, like a castle, slowly crawled up from the shore. The dockside huts beneath its feet were like paper, carelessly trampled into rubble.
"This, this is also a descendant of gods?" Morris trembled slightly.
"No, that thing is probably some kind of evil god."
David gave a wry smile. "Damn it, did I drink some kind of reverse Felix Felicis potion? Why does this kind of thing always happen to me?!"
Among magical disasters, there is one type that is the most dangerous.
They are usually noticed by the countermeasures bureau in the form of cult sacrifices or mass suicide blood sacrifices of monsters. Extremely terrifying things may appear in these kinds of events, and they usually call themselves gods.
The monsters controlled and manipulated by these "gods" are the so-called "divine offspring," who are equally troublesome. Even a powerful A-level team composed entirely of wizards could be wiped out if they are not careful.
Including this time, David has encountered two events related to the divine in just three months, which is quite unfortunate.
The ship is now destroyed, and such a huge thing is blocking the shore. It's impossible to go back to the mainland for the time being. "Let's run towards the island, find a communication device, report the news, and request satellite support."
But the next moment, more than a dozen figures surrounded them. At first, they walked on two legs, but as they walked, they suddenly lay down or crawled on the ground and got up sideways.
The priest "walked" up again, and from behind his body, something that looked like an intestine extended out, which then deftly lifted its head like a tail.
The head said, "You can't escape now, join us. Return to your mother's embrace and share her strength. This is the good news God has given you."
"I don't want to become aquatic life!" David snorted, immediately transforming into a giant wolf. He charged forward, knocking several crabmen flying.
But before he could rush out, suddenly the giant crab god in the distance spat out a mouthful of water.
The water flow was like a laser, instantly piercing through Elena. Then, with a sweep, several crabmen were cut in half. Morris immediately teleported into the air, but David, being a large man, was not as agile. When he jumped, the water flow still cut his hind limbs, severing both of his legs instantly.
Elena was dead, and David knew he had no chance of escaping. He glanced at Maurice and said, "Maurice, teleport away! Once we're out of this magical disaster's range, we can re-establish contact with headquarters, request support, and blast this place to smithereens to avenge us."
After saying that, he took out the backpack behind him, seemingly prepared to die together with others.
But at that moment, a voice entered Maurice's mind.
"Divine calamity detected. God-slaying cannon ready. All personnel, please move out of the 100-meter radius of the 'false god.' God-slaying cannon countdown: 10, 9..."
"3, 2, 1..."
A blinding beam of light pierced through the clouds, striking the giant crab's head.
The next moment, it was firmly pressed to the ground, its entire body corroded and carbonized in the green light. After more than half a minute, it turned into ashes with a mournful cry of unwillingness.
Morris stared blankly at the scene. Suddenly, the space in front of him distorted, and a blonde girl appeared out of thin air.
"I'm Lucas," the girl said. "Are you the investigator here? Please give me your report."
