Chapter 41 Ideological Imprint

Diary entry: "I read about a spell that can plant a belief, a word, or an emotion as a seed in the other person's mind. Once successful, the seed will take root in the other person's mind, becoming a part of them, and can never be removed."

"Since it is not a curse, the seed is planted the moment the spell is completed, so even wizards have no way to break it."

"This spell is too evil!" Alex exclaimed.

Even the Imperishable Curse, one of the three unforgivable curses, can be seen as a weakened version of it.

After all, the Soul-Stealing Curse only controls a person for a period of time, and the effect can be reversed; it does not have such a permanent effect.

Murphy was also taken aback.

This is basically a magical version of the mind imprint?! A wizard's version of Kotoamatsukami?

He immediately became excited, "What is this spell?"

Alex wanted to offer some advice, but Murphy glared at him.

That terrifying aura of "If you dare to utter a single word of nonsense, you'd better get lost" immediately made him cower and obediently write in his diary.

However, Murphy was disappointed by the reply to the diary this time.

"I've only read about its existence in books. In 'The Dark Wizards of Katal,' it mentions a wizarding family called Hel, whose family possesses this terrible magic."

"Ah!" Alex exclaimed suddenly upon seeing the sentence, "The Chronicles of the Dark Wizards of Katal, I've seen this book before, it's with my sister. I remember now, the spell I mentioned seeing before must be from this book!"

Murphy rolled her eyes at him.

It's too late to offer advice now, it's all for nothing.

He continued reading the diary.

"This family originally lived in Egypt and later settled in Europe. Because of this curse, they were wanted criminals in many countries. It is said that the last member of their family, Joachim Hull, wandered to England and eventually lived in a small village."

"In his 'The Dark Wizards Chronicle,' Katal only mentions that the village is in Calfilly in southern Wales, but without specifying its name or location."

Murphy frowned. "Are there any other clues?"

"There is only one hand-drawn view of the village by Katal."

After finishing his diary entry, a very simple hand-drawn sketch appeared. It showed mountains in the distance, trees in the foreground, a wall in the middle, and a few scattered houses. He couldn't make out anything else.

However, Murphy still took out a camera from the seamless stretch bag and took two photos.

His camera was a Yashica Electro 35 GTN, which suited his former name, Peter Parker.

After developing the photos, Murphy found Selika Wood, who was still working in the Enchanted Arts Research Lab.

The latter wanted to run away as soon as he saw him.

Murphy was baffled, but he wouldn't tolerate it. "Serica, fly here!"

Selica was immediately pulled by a force and flew towards Murphy. She flailed her limbs, but it was no use. Murphy still grabbed her by the back of her collar.

Like a puppy being lifted by the neck, the girl suddenly stopped moving.

Why are you running?

Selica didn't know why she was running away, but seeing Murphy made her feel a little guilty and nervous. She mustered her courage before daring to retort, "Why did you arrest me?"

"Okay, I'll put you down. You can't run anymore."

"oh."

Murphy lowered her collar, but Selica immediately took off running again.

Murphy frowned. "Getting excited, huh?"

He hardened his expression and said, "You stop right there!"

Selica stopped, looking pitiful, and glanced at Murphy, but she really didn't dare to run anymore.

"Come here! Stand here! Don't move!"

The latter grumbled and complained, but still obediently stood in the spot Murphy had designated, like a primary school student being punished.

Hmm, does this girl have the potential to be trained?

Murphy looked around; the wizards who had worked with Selica were all gone. "Why are you alone? Where are the others?"

They're all gone.

"Left? Who gave you permission?"

"I," Celica glanced at Murphy discreetly, and seeing that he didn't seem too angry, she breathed a sigh of relief, "They said the spell might involve dark magic, and they don't want to do it anymore."

"Then why don't you leave?" Murphy asked, a little curious.

"I've spent so much money, if I leave now, wouldn't it all be a waste? I want to try again, maybe I'll succeed..."

"What if it still doesn't work?"

"Then, I'll work for you and pay you back."

"Ha, that's tens of thousands of Galleons, how are you going to pay it back? Are you going to get a spanking?"

Selica blushed immediately. "I, I..."

"Alright," Murphy stopped teasing her, "you don't need to do that secret spell anymore. I've already found a good one. I was just about to tell you so you can test its effectiveness."

"It's done? Who...?"

"Don't worry about the details," Murphy said, handing Selica a notebook with the spell written on it. "Take this and test it out, study it, and see if it works. But it shouldn't be a big problem."

Selica took the notebook, unsure whether to be happy or disappointed. She was happy that Murphy had finally gotten the result he wanted, but disappointed that this had nothing to do with her.

"There's one more thing," Murphy said, handing her another photograph. "This is a village in Calfiley, in southern Wales, where a wizard named Joachim Hull once lived."

"Alex said you've read 'The Chronicles of the Dark Wizards of Katal'? Go back and look for clues, see if there's any other information about Joachim."

Selica didn't immediately recognize the name, but when he mentioned the biographies of dark wizards, she immediately understood. "You want to find that spell? Hel's Seed of the Heart?"

Her's Seed of the Soul? So that's what it's called.

"Yes," Murphy didn't hide anything, "You were also a member of the Magical Archaeology Association, right? You should have some methods for excavating ancient magic. Could you help me find it?"

"...I'm not sure," Celica had recently begun to doubt her professional abilities. "Besides, it's a very evil form of black magic. Because of this magic, the Hell family is wanted by many countries. What do you want from it?"

What should we do?

Murphy thought about it and decided that it should be used to reduce the number of enemies and increase the number of friends.

Now that we know this convenient spell exists, we should naturally look for it.

However, he didn't actually have high hopes.

It's quite simple; Tom Riddle certainly wanted the magic even more than he did, but judging from his subsequent actions, he probably didn't find it either.

Murphy decided to give it a try; finding it would be great, like having a cheat code, but if he didn't, it wouldn't be a problem.

This is just a casual move.
