Chapter 380 The Orgas Project

In September, with the approval of the Supreme Council, the Soviet Union began to implement OGAS—also known as the OGAS Project.

The plan consists of three main steps:

The first step is to fully implement information-based and paperless office practices in government agencies and state-owned enterprises, based on existing computer resources and the internet. Enterprises are the user terminals, which are regulated by a unified computerized system, and all accounting transactions must be handled through this system.

This step will be implemented sequentially from the central government to local governments. The entire plan will be planned and monitored by the national laboratory's central supercomputing "pioneer," and is expected to take three years to complete by the end of 1999.

The second step is to promote mobile internet across the entire society, relying on more advanced wireless communication technologies and combining them with the Starlink satellite program to establish a nationwide wireless communication network, so that the benefits of the information age can reach ordinary people.
