Hogwarts: From Selling White Peppers to Becoming a God
Chapter 256 Entering the City
Chapter 256 Entering the City
A few days later, in the Alkaim Basin.
On a cliff, Azir put on his hood and pointed to a city in the distance that looked like a small mountain, saying, "That is the holy city of Alkaim. It's about ten kilometers away from here. This land has been enchanted with strong magic, so all flying devices are unusable. You have to walk there."
Murphy glanced at the colossal city towering over the plain from afar and couldn't help but feel a sense of感慨 (gan3kai3, a feeling of mixed emotions, including nostalgia and nods). After being in this world for so long, he had finally seen a city with a magical atmosphere.
"Why do people hollow out mountains to build cities when there's so much land around?" a wizard next to Murphy asked.
To make the act more convincing, Murphy was accompanied by two Aurors from the British Ministry of Magic, assigned by Rahim, to accompany him on his "secret mission."
After all, proposing marriage to the Queen of Su is essentially an international matter. According to Azir, the other suitors were also accompanied by one or two civil servants from their respective countries' Ministry of Magic.
Therefore, they could essentially be considered a small diplomatic mission.
"This city is home to almost all the wizards of the Kingdom of Su. To protect the city's safety, countless great wizards set up numerous protective spells for it at the beginning of its construction. The most powerful of these is the St. Peter's Wall surrounding the city."
"It was a spherical barrier, as solid as a rock, indestructible. In order to make it work to the fullest extent, people chose to live inside the walls, and the city naturally became what it is today."
"Alright, let's part ways here. I need to go back to the city to make some preparations."
After Azir left, Murphy summoned an off-road vehicle from the box and spent more than twenty minutes arriving at the foot of the giant city.
Compared to the magnificent city walls and equally impressive barrier, the gates of Alkaim appear quite small.
It was only about ten meters wide, and the high-hanging city gate and the old stone-paved road made Murphy think for a moment that he had returned to Hogwarts.
This city must be quite ancient.
They stopped their carriages and underwent entry checks. Ahead of them was a magnificent caravan of carriages. Murphy heard them speaking what seemed to be French. A young man wearing a white wig stepped down from one of the carriages, exchanged a few words with two soldiers at the gate, and produced something that looked like an invitation. The soldiers then let them in, seemingly quite casually.
When it was Murphy's turn, he took out the invitation from the letter the Queen had given him. The two soldiers opened it and glanced at it. One of them asked in broken English, "Are you from England?"
"good."
The soldier returned the invitation to him and said, "Go register at the customs office next door."
Murphy frowned. "Why didn't the previous group need one?"
"There are many of them, so they will register at the customs hall."
"Okay, where is the customs office?"
The soldier pointed them in a direction, "Go to the right, keep going."
However, after entering the road on the right, they found that it was a small road with some houses on both sides, which were quite dilapidated and seemed to have been abandoned.
"Something's not right," one of the Aurors said.
Murphy was about to release his crows to investigate when suddenly, several spells shot out from a nearby house.
Murphy reacted quickly, immediately blocking with his armor spell, but almost simultaneously several spells were cast from the old house on the other side. An Auror was caught off guard and was hit on the spot, collapsing to the ground with a thud, his life hanging in the balance.
Seeing that another Auror was about to be hit, Murphy raised his wand, and the stone slabs on the ground instantly turned into walls, blocking the attack from behind the opponent.
Then he waved his wand, and another stone slab floated up, spinning rapidly, its four corners elongating and thinning, revealing a metallic luster, becoming like a blade.
The next instant, it flew out like a four-bladed propeller, suddenly crashing into a house, then emerged from the other side. Two of its four cleaver-like blades broke off, but its speed did not decrease. Instead, it became even faster under the enhancement of Murphy's magic, and crashed into another house behind him without stopping.
"Oh no, this place is going to collapse!" he heard someone shout in Russian.
Both houses were on the verge of collapse after Murphy's "propeller" destroyed their supporting pillars.
Suddenly, several wizards appeared in front of Murphy. There were six of them, two of whom were very young and wore magnificent purple robes with gold trim, while the others were older and looked very capable.
Before their apparitions had finished, Murphy pounced on them, waving his wand across one of their eyes. Then, with his left hand, he grabbed a wizard by the neck and crushed his throat.
Someone reacted quickly and tried to cast a spell at him, but Murphy instantly transformed into lightning and flashed behind him, punching the other person in the back of the neck. Then he flashed in front of another wizard and plunged his wand into the other person's eye.
In just two or three seconds, the two young wizards had just recovered from the dizziness of being apparated when they found that their companions were either lying on the ground groaning in pain or had already lost consciousness.
They were terrified, but before their fear could turn into the thought of running away, Murphy appeared in front of them, grabbed them by the neck with one hand, and lifted them up.
Who are you?
"This outfit... let me guess, Frederick?"
The two young wizards were still struggling desperately. They couldn't understand Murphy's question, but in the next instant, Murphy used Legilimency on them.
George Frederick, and Alexander Frederick.
Ivan Frederick's second and third sons.
Good grief, I haven't even gone to cause trouble for your fathers yet, and you've already delivered yourselves to my doorstep, huh?
My mission is to kill Ivan, but I suppose Sofia wouldn't mind losing two more people.
Just as Murphy was preparing to kill Nizar to cover his tracks, the Auror behind him shouted, "Nizar, you're still alive!"
He had just used the spell to stop his companion's attack and found that the other party was not fatally injured. The spell that hit him just now seemed to be something like a stun spell.
Murphy glanced again at the other wizards lying on the ground. The one whose neck was smashed was unconscious, the one whose eyes were slashed was likely to go blind, the one whose throat was crushed was almost dead, and the one whose eyes were gouged out was still alive.
Then, on a whim, he pressed the two young male wizards to the ground and used his enchanting voice to make them sound irresistible: "Now, tell me, why did you attack me?"
His public identity was that of a foreigner who had come to propose marriage, a British envoy.
Even though his identity was different from the other suitors and might arouse suspicion, the Queen had never shown any intention to kill Ivan, so it was unlikely that Frederick would immediately assume that he was there to assassinate him.
Then why would his two sons target him?
