Chapter 244 Harry Turns into a Girl

One week later.

That noon, Murphy was discussing a new potion they had invented with Cho Chang.

"You mean this compound decoction can't transform a person into someone else, but it can change the user's gender?"

Murphy was stunned. "How did you make that?"

"Actually, it was completely an accident..." Qiu Zhang looked a little embarrassed. "We were planning to do some research on animals transforming into animals, as you suggested. Our subjects were fish and mice because they are relatively easy to obtain..."

"But during one experiment, we accidentally dropped some fish eggs into the soup. Later, we added a mouse's fur to the soup and fed it to another mouse. Not only did its appearance change, but it even changed from a male mouse to a female mouse, even though the mouse that provided the fur was also a male mouse..."

"We were very curious about this, so we did many more experiments and found that it was caused by the fish eggs."

"Drinking a soup containing only fish roe will have no effect, but if you add tissue from the same species, regardless of the individual's sex, the user will be transformed into the other sex... boys will become girls, and girls will become boys... just like it has always been..."

"Strangely, the tissues from the same species added seem to be only used to activate the drug, and do not acquire the characteristics of that individual. The mice that take the drug only undergo a sex change, but still retain their original characteristics, such as fur color, scars, etc..."

"What kind of fish eggs are those?" Murphy asked curiously.

"I think it's called rainbow trout?" the girl said.

Many fish have the ability to change sex. For example, a male clownfish will transform into a female after the only female in the group dies, in order to continue the species. Rainbow trout eggs can hatch into fry of different sexes depending on the environment.

Perhaps it is this factor that caused the compound decoction to become a modified medicine.

"Is this drug permanent?" Murphy asked.

"Based on our current observations, the effects will last a long time, and there are no signs of them fading naturally; they may be permanent."

The effects of compound decoctions usually subside naturally, but in some abnormal situations, such as the death of the patient or the incorrect use of ingredients from different species, the effects may not be able to subside naturally.

In retrospect, sex-changing drugs also appear to be a misuse of the drug.

"In any case, this is a very interesting discovery. Are you prepared to continue researching it?"

Qiu Zhang shook his head. "No, we don't think this potion is very useful; it will only embarrass the wizards. Besides, although there haven't been any problems with animal testing, we haven't conducted any human trials yet, and we don't know if there will be any adverse consequences..."

As they were talking, Hermione suddenly rushed over in a panic. "Cho, Harry, something's happened to Harry. Madam Pomfrey wants to ask you about that potion..."

"What's going on?" Murphy asked.

"Professor Murphy," Hermione said with a mix of panic and amusement, "Harry... Harry has turned into a girl..."

……

Murphy arrived at the medical room.

Harry was placed in a separate room, and when Murphy went in, the patient was covered by a blanket.

Tom and Ron were also in the room, but judging from their expressions, they both seemed to find the whole thing quite funny.

Mrs. Pomfrey was there too, pulling Harry's blanket over him. "Oh, child, I've seen patients with much stranger symptoms than you. You've just turned into a little girl, not a monster. Come on, let go, let me see."

"No..." A weak girl's voice came from under the covers, sounding like she was about to cry, "Please, Mrs. Pomfrey, I'll get better on my own, just let me be for a little while."

"You are, Harry?" Cho Chang asked in shock. "How could you...?"

She looked at Hermione. "Hermione, what color label did you have on that bottle of Polyjuice Potion you borrowed the other day?"

"Huh? It looks like... orange..." Hermione said. "Katie Bell gave it to me."

Katie Bell is a second-year Gryffindor student and is in the same group as Cho Chang.

"Oh my god." Qiu Zhang covered her mouth. "Careless Katie, she gave you a gender reassignment drug. She must not have read the label properly..."

In fact, this girl practically invented the sex-changing drug. She added water that fish had laid eggs to the compound decoction, mistaking it for clean water, which caused the decoction to turn into a sex-changing drug...

"Harry," Cho Chang approached the bedside, "the medicine you took wasn't a regular Compound Potion; it's a strange potion we accidentally created. We don't yet know how it will affect people. Let me see you, okay?"

Harry lay silent on the hospital bed for a long while before finally pulling the blanket over his head.

"Oh." Murphy almost burst out laughing.

"Wow!" Qiu Zhang exclaimed, "You've really become a girl, so cute!"

Harry was still wearing his round glasses, but his face had become rounder, and his skin was much fairer and smoother. Perhaps because of shyness, his face was flushed, and his short, black hair, which was about ear length, lay smoothly against his cheeks, with the tips of his ears peeking out from between the strands of hair all red.

"Wow!" Ron exclaimed in surprise. He had been so busy delivering the guy that he hadn't really paid attention to him properly. But now, the girl version of Harry actually looked really cute.

Harry looked at everyone timidly, "Please don't laugh, okay?"

But Hermione couldn't hold back any longer. "Haha, Harry, you're so cute, much cuter than when you were a boy! Don't turn back!"

"Hermione!" Harry was a little angry, but his angry expression was still soft.

"Oh my goodness," Madam Pomfrey exclaimed, somewhat shocked. She cupped Harry's face in her hands and looked him over. "It's incredible. Except for your black hair, you look exactly like your mother when she was a child."

Harry was astonished. He grabbed a mirror and looked at himself. "Is this what my mother looked like when she was a child?"

He was touched, but also felt a little strange. His mother was so young when she was little?

"I need to do a check-up on you..." Mrs. Pomfrey said, glancing at the people in the ward. "Go out, all of you, give the patient some space."

After everyone waited outside for a while, Mrs. Pomfrey called Murphy and Cho Chang into the ward.

"His physical condition isn't too bad, but he has definitely turned into a girl." Madam Pomfrey looked at Harry. "Although the wizarding world has countless magical potions, I must say this one is quite special. After all, why did you drink Polyjuice Potion?"

"I...I..." Harry didn't know how to lie for a moment, but fortunately Madam Pomfrey didn't seem to care too much about the problem. "Well, it's okay to try it out of curiosity once in a while. The important thing is what to do next."

As she spoke, she looked at Qiu Zhang and asked, "Did you invent it?"

"I'm so sorry, Mrs. Pomfrey, we didn't know things would turn out this way," Cho Chang said apologetically, also apologizing to Harry, "I'm sorry, Harry."

How long does it last?

"It seems...it might...be permanent..."

"Oh no..." Harry groaned softly.

"If there are no other side effects, I'm actually at a loss as to how to treat it..." Madam Pomfrey said hesitantly, glancing at Harry. "Child, do you really not want to be a girl?"

"Of course not!" Harry exclaimed in shock. "Absolutely not!"

"Alright..." Mrs. Pomfrey pondered, "Let me think about what to do..."

"Mrs. Pomfrey," Murphy said suddenly, "this is the effect of the Transfiguration potion. Perhaps making a powerful antidote could improve the symptoms. Professor Snape might be able to help you with this. Why don't you have him come and see Harry too?"
