Hogwarts: From Selling White Peppers to Becoming a God
Chapter 24 Attack
Chapter 24 Attack
"He told us that since the other party always had to spend a large sum of Galleons to buy materials, he must have gone to Gringotts to get the money first, and perhaps we could find some clues through Gringotts."
"So we gave Bogorod some gifts, and he showed us the transaction records from those days. We discovered that two people withdrew a large amount of Galleons on the day they bought the potion ingredients; one was named Stephen Cumberbatch, and the other was Murphy Darkholm."
"Our investigation revealed that Cumberbatch is a false name; there is no such person in the wizarding world. That Stephen Cumberbatch is Murphy Darkholm!"
"Then we had a portrait of Murphy Darkholm drawn and showed it to Slag, confirming that he was indeed Peter Parker!"
"Darkholm..." Lucius pondered for a moment, then suddenly remembered the surname, "Sanders, Natalie... Murphy..."
"So it was him!" Lucius realized, but a new question arose in his mind: "Where did he get so much money?"
Before Sanders and Natalie, those two brilliant strategists, went in, they even borrowed several hundred Galleons from me!
Where did their son get tens of thousands of Galleons?
"That's what I'm going to say next," said the short wizard. "Murphy Darkholm's money is all in gold; he claims to have unearthed his ancestors' buried gold in his old house."
"But we all knew it was a lie. The Darkholm family had been in decline for over a century, so there couldn't possibly be any gold! Then we remembered the Muggle farm. Papad said he had seen a Muggle vehicle delivering a lot of herbs to the barn that day, and I had him draw the logo on that vehicle. It looked like this."
As the short wizard spoke, he took out a piece of parchment, on which was drawn a pattern resembling an open umbrella.
"Our people went to great lengths to figure out what this logo meant. It's a Muggle company called Umbrella. They've recently become quite famous in the Muggle world because they sell a potion that can instantly heal wounds for Muggles..."
"A potion that can heal wounds instantly, what comes to mind?" the short wizard asked.
"You mean... a potion?"
"Yes! White umami flavoring!"
"And guess what Murphy Darkholm bought most often from our store? Dictamnus!"
"Everything's clear now, sir!" the short wizard exclaimed excitedly. "That Murphy, he's selling potions to Muggles! He made countless pounds, then exchanged them for gold to buy so many of our materials! We used Veritaserum on a Muggle apothecary, and he said the Umbrella Corporation earns at least a million pounds a month, equivalent to two hundred thousand Galleons!"
"hiss……"
Lucius gasped.
Two hundred thousand Galleons!
One month!
The Malfoy family, with all their businesses combined, couldn't even earn tens of thousands of Galleons a month!
What makes a poor boy who lost both his parents so special?!
And what's more, he actually dared not include me in the game!
"Selling potions to Muggles, openly defying the Wizarding Secrecy Act!" Lucius's pale face contorted. "How dare you! How dare you!"
This was once the glorious path of the Malfoy family. It wasn't until the enforcement of wizarding secrecy laws became increasingly strict that they withdrew their business in the Muggle world, and as a result, their profits plummeted.
Now, someone actually wants to bypass the Malfoy family and take this route on their own?
Unforgivable!
Unforgivable!
"Have you found any evidence?!" Lucius asked anxiously.
"We found their factory. All the potions sold to Muggles were produced in that factory. The Muggle workers and the potions in production are the evidence!"
"Good! Good!" Lucius jumped to his feet. "Go and bring them back to me!"
"No! I'll go myself! I'll personally send that bastard to Azkaban!"
"Also! Tell Bougorod about this and freeze his accounts!"
……
"Dictamnus dasycarpus, Flopp caterpillar, Hocrab fruit, unicorn horn powder, dried Biliwig beetle, wolfsbane and aconite..."
In Knockturn Alley, in the backyard of Siren's Song, Murphy had a pile of bags in front of him.
He opened each pocket and inspected the materials inside, then ticked them off on the list in his hand.
It took Murphy a full half hour to finally finish checking all the potion ingredients.
He then took out a small cloth bag from his waist and tossed it to Lisandro, who was already waiting impatiently. "The quantity is less than I expected, but it's enough. Here's the price; count it."
While Lisandro was counting the money, Murphy packed all the medicine bags into a seamless stretch box, which he had bought in Borginborough. It was said to be a family heirloom from an ancient family and cost three thousand Galleons.
Murphy didn't believe a word Borginbock said, but the box was indeed quite nice. Although the space inside was far less than Newt Scamander's "little paradise," it was still the size of a warehouse, enough for him to transport all kinds of supplies.
So Murphy patiently haggled for a long time and bought it back for 500 Galleons.
After loading the items, Lisandro finished counting the money, and the two shook hands.
"It's a pleasure working with you," Murphy said.
"I wish you bad luck, you swindler," Lisandro said sarcastically.
Why is this guy still thinking about cheating?
He raised an eyebrow. "Be more open-minded, brother. You've made quite a few Galleons today."
……
Apparating away from Knockturn Alley, Murphy arrived at a newly rented warehouse, dumped out all the medicinal herbs, and was considering whether to rent a place nearby for Alex so he could work at the warehouse when his cell phone rang.
Murphy answered the phone and heard Patrick's frantic voice: "Where have you been? Come to the factory right now, something terrible has happened!"
"What's wrong? What happened?"
"The factory has been bombed, the workers have been kidnapped, it might be a terrorist attack, you need to come quickly!"
Murphy paused for a moment, then, without delay, hung up the phone and Apparated directly to the factory.
As Murphy stepped through the factory gate, he frowned. The original iron archway seemed to have been twisted by some force, turning into a pretzel. Thick smoke billowed from the factory, and half of the factory building had collapsed.
This really looks like it's been the site of a terrorist attack.
Murphy found Patrick, who was directing some workers to move rubble and clean up the factory.
"What happened?"
Patrick glanced at Murphy, seemingly surprised by his quick arrival, but he quickly said, "There was an attack on the factory. The security guards were terrified and said someone used magic to blow up the factory walls, then grabbed a few of our workers and disappeared. I've already called the police, and they'll be here soon."
"How many people did they arrest?" Murphy asked.
"Five of them. It was already after get off work hours, and there weren't many people left in the factory. They also seemed to have taken a lot of materials and packaged medicine. I suspect it's those pharmaceutical companies! They're absolutely lawless! You have to be careful; they're capable of attacking factories, so they might do something to you too!"
Murphy's face darkened. "I understand. You deal with the police, I'll go ask that security guard."
Murphy found the poor black man, kicked everyone else out of the room, and then used Legilimency on him before casting a Forgetfulness Curse on him, causing him to fall into a deep sleep.
From the security guard's memory, he had already seen what the attacker looked like.
Her long, pale gold hair and elegant yet arrogant demeanor made Murphy recognize her immediately, even though they had never met before.
"Lucius."
