Hogwarts: From Selling White Peppers to Becoming a God

Chapter 212 Is Riddle Tom's grandfather?

Chapter 212 Is Riddle Tom's grandfather?

The door suddenly opened.

"How do you know that name?" Hagrid stared at the boy in shock.

"Can we go in and talk?" Tom asked. "I think this could be a long conversation."

Hagrid eventually let Tom into his cabin again. He poured himself a cup of tea but forgot to give it to Tom. He was startled by the name, which reminded him of the tragic experience he had suffered fifty years ago.

"Why did you ask Riddle?" Hagrid asked again.

“I saw it in the school’s awards room; he received a special contribution award,” Tom said. “Later I learned that the award was for preventing a terrible incident in which Myrtle was killed. I spoke with Myrtle, and she mentioned you.”

"Myrtle." Hagrid took a big gulp of tea from his cup. "Yes, yes, that's the girl's name. I'll never forget her."

"They say it was me, that Aragog killed her." Hagrid looked like he was about to cry. Even though fifty years had passed, he still felt extremely wronged when he thought about what happened back then.

"Aragog?" Tom asked.

"Aragok was an eight-eyed giant spider. I kept it in a box back then. It was so small, and it was very obedient and not dangerous at all. It wouldn't hurt anyone..."

"An eight-eyed giant spider?" Tom was taken aback.

He had read about it in a book; it was a giant spider that could grow bigger than a truck, and it was intelligent, carnivorous, and possessed extremely venomous venom.

Such a creature is not dangerous at all?

Considering that Hagrid also owned Fulvi, the three-headed hellhound, Tom gained a completely new understanding of Hagrid's words about "small" and "not dangerous".

However, the eyes of the eight-eyed giant spider are all black. What are the two large yellow eyes that Mommy mentioned?

"Did Tom Riddle discover that you were raising giant spiders?" Tom asked.

"Yes," Hagrid said sadly, "He mistakenly thought it was the monster that killed the girl. But it wasn't; Aragog would never harm a person!"

"What kind of person is Tom Riddle?" Tom couldn't help but ask directly.

He wasn't particularly concerned about what happened fifty years ago, and he only had a basic curiosity about how Myrtle died. What truly drove him to pursue this matter was Tom Riddle and the inexplicable familiarity he felt with that name.

Hagrid was stunned, seemingly not understanding why Tom would ask such a question.

"Tell me, Hagrid, this is very important to me."

"You...why are you concerned about things from fifty years ago? Why are you asking about Tom Riddle? Tom..." Suddenly, Hagrid's eyes widened. "You're also named Tom...are you related to Riddle?"

"I don't know," Tom sighed.

"I grew up in an orphanage, and they said my parents were ordinary people, maybe even Muggles."

"But, this name... I don't know why, it always feels very familiar to me, maybe... I think maybe..."

Hagrid understood.

Tom was just a child who wanted to know where he came from.

He had seen this kind of feeling in Harry, and he had experienced it himself. Perhaps that was why he had such a special fondness for Harry.

"Riddle..." Hagrid thought for a moment, "He's very smart."

"He's a Slytherin, just like you," Hagrid said, glancing at Tom, "but you two don't look quite the same."

"Oh! By the way, Riddle also seems to have grown up in an orphanage, just like you. He was a good student, very polite, and very popular in Slytherin; everyone liked him." Hagrid sighed as he spoke, "But he wronged Aragog."

"Aragok was terrified of what was in that secret room; he didn't even dare mention its name. I asked him many times... The monster was the one who killed that girl..."

"But nobody believed me."

"They say I opened the Chamber of Secrets... but I don't even know what the Slytherin heir is... I'm a Gryffindor, how could I have opened the Chamber of Secrets..."

"A secret room?" Tom looked at him questioningly. "What's that?"

"Legend has it that Salazar Slytherin left a secret chamber in the castle, which only his successor can open..."

"Inside... never mind, that's none of Riddle's business. Let's get back to him."

"Anyway, Tom Riddle was an excellent student. I think he went traveling after graduation...and after that, I don't know...he was in Slytherin at the time, and we weren't very close."

"Your middle name is Tom... If you two are really related, judging from the timeline, perhaps he is your grandfather..."

Fifty years is exactly the span of two generations...

Tom's heart skipped a beat; yes, it really might be true.

No wonder I felt a connection to that name. Perhaps Tom Riddle really was my grandfather? But his descendants chose to stay in the Muggle world and may not know about their origins.

Riddle was also a Slytherin, and he also grew up in an orphanage. So many similarities are probably not a coincidence.

More importantly, the familiarity I felt with this name was completely inexplicable.

Perhaps this is the effect of the magic he left behind?

……

The next day at lunch, the three children noticed that Tom seemed to be in a very good mood.

"Is the matter resolved?" Hermione asked.

"We've solved some of it," Tom said. "By the way, have you found any clues about who Nicolas Flamel is that Hagrid mentioned?"

"No," Hermione said, somewhat disappointed. "I feel like I've seen this name somewhere before, but I can't quite place it."

"Perhaps we can tell the professor about this," Tom said. "Hagrid is right; we're meddling in things that have nothing to do with us."

“No professor will believe us,” Ron said. “Even Hagrid doesn’t believe Snape is a bad guy.”

Tom thought for a moment and asked Harry, "Are you really going to get involved in this?"

"Snape wants to kill me! He's doing something terrible, and I have to stop him!"

Tom nodded. "Okay, if it's really necessary, it's not impossible. The professors don't believe us because they think we're just kids and don't have any evidence. If we get evidence, they won't be able to ignore this."

"Evidence?" Harry asked, intrigued. "How?"

Tom pulled out his goblin coin. "Put this in Snape's office, and maybe we'll overhear his plans."
