Hogwarts: From Selling White Peppers to Becoming a God
Chapter 181 The First Lesson of Love
Chapter 181 The First Lesson of Love
Murphy!
Tom felt a sudden surge of tension and quickly put his diary away. He looked around and saw that no smelly socks were sticking out.
He had just finished tidying up the room when the door opened.
"Thank you, thank you for picking me up..."
He mustered all his courage and almost closed his eyes to finish speaking.
But there was no reaction from the other side. He opened his eyes and saw a pale-faced little girl standing outside the door.
"you……"
Tom's face flushed red with shame.
The girl opposite him suddenly turned even paler. "Sorry... ugh..."
……
Murphy gently patted Hermione's back. "Mrs. Cornelian, do you have any motion sickness medication?"
"Yes, yes." Mrs. Cornan hurried off to find medicine for Hermione.
"You, aren't you a magician? Why didn't you use magic to heal her?!" Tom suddenly spoke up after Mrs. Cornan had walked away. His face was still burning, and he was extremely disgusted with Murphy. What a load of rubbish diary! Get angry if you want, I don't believe I can't go to magic school myself!
Surprisingly, Murphy wasn't angry. "Magic can heal her, but she'll have to get used to Apparition eventually. She'll just have to vomit a little more."
As he spoke, he stood up.
Tom then realized that the professor was extremely tall; looking up at him was like looking at a towering building.
Murphy extended a hand.
For a moment, Tom flinched. The other man noticed and squatted down again. The hand that was about to cover Tom's head ended up on his shoulder. "Young man, you're quite polite."
He patted him on the shoulder and said, "You have a bright future, I believe in you."
Tom was stunned.
For a moment, he couldn't describe what that feeling was like.
He instinctively slapped away the hand that was on his shoulder, but for some reason, he didn't want to say anything more sarcastic.
Murphy didn't seem to mind. "Do you have any luggage? Pack it up. We'll go to Diagon Alley later to buy you some things, and then we'll set off."
"By the way, say goodbye to your friends. You probably won't be coming back from here again."
"I...I don't have many friends," Tom finally said.
"Oh," Murphy didn't seem surprised. "That's normal. I didn't have many friends when I was a kid."
"However, some things still need to go through the proper procedures, from beginning to end. Just follow me."
After Murphy finished speaking, he went to talk to Mrs. Cornan for a few words. After listening, the latter suddenly covered her mouth.
She came over and hugged Tom tightly. "Oh, Lucas, thank you, son. I love you too, and I'll miss you. Have a good time at your new school, dear."
Tom was bewildered. What was going on?
He looked at Murphy blankly, but she had a strange smile on her face and gave him a casual salute with two fingers.
What's going on?
He instinctively tried to push Mrs. Cornan away, but she held on very tightly. He tried and eventually gave up. Seeing that Mrs. Cornan still wouldn't let go, he hesitated for a moment, suppressed his discomfort, and gently patted her back.
But unexpectedly, this made the latter hug even tighter.
"Mrs. Cornan..." Tom almost couldn't breathe.
Finally, the dean released him. "Come on, Lucas, say goodbye to your friends."
"But...but I don't have any friends..."
"What are you saying, silly child?"
Soon, all the children from the orphanage came to the hall.
"In the past, I was worried that your friends leaving would make you sad, so I didn't let you say goodbye properly, but that wasn't good. Now that Lucas is leaving us, let's all give him a hug and wish him well. I hope that you will all leave here with blessings, not regrets."
No sooner had Mrs. Cornan finished speaking than a girl suddenly ran over and hugged Tom tightly. "Lucas! I thought you were ignoring us!"
What?
Tom was still completely bewildered.
Do we know each other?
"I thought you were angry with us..."
Several more boys and girls came up and hugged Tom tightly. "Goodbye, Lucas. Be happy! Don't forget us!"
"Goodbye, buddy!"
Goodbye, Lucas, come back to see us!
"You should be happy, Lucas."
Good luck, bro.
"goodbye."
"Bye-Bye."
Countless hands patted Tom's back and shoulders, some touched his face and ruffled his hair, some picked him up tightly and even spun him around, and a girl kissed him.
"What...is this?"
Tom stared blankly at the children, some crying, some laughing, their expressions unreadable. Yet, he sensed no malice in their pats or hugs.
It seemed as if something warm was being conveyed through their words, tears, and embraces, filling his heart completely.
Goodbye.
Finally, he said that the words felt as if they had jumped out of his own mouth.
"I will remember you."
His gaze swept over those faces.
He was puzzled as to why he had forgotten these people.
After a while, Tom emerged from the crowd. They walked out of the hall, and the boys, girls, and Mrs. Cornan waved to him.
Hermione Granger was crying her eyes out.
Tom was surprised. "Why are you crying?"
Hermione's face turned pale, and she was sobbing so hard she could barely breathe. "Weren't you crying too?"
"I cried?" Tom was stunned and reached up to wipe his eyes.
Sure enough, it was wet.
"What...what is this?" Tom looked at the only adult beside him in a panic, hoping to get an explanation.
"This..." Murphy smiled, then suddenly opened his arms and hugged both children, one on each side. "This is love, Tom."
"like?"
Tom looked at the tears in his hand. "Is love tears?"
"That's right, my friend."
Love is tears.
"Love is sorrow."
"Love is separation."
"Love is something that causes you pain."
"Only through deep longing, countless twists and turns, heart-wrenching tears, and excruciating pain can one prove that love once existed."
"However, my friend."
"Without pain, how can there be happiness?"
"Without sorrow, how can there be joy?"
"Without separation, how can there be reunion?"
"Without tears, how can there be laughter?"
"They are two sides of the same coin, each being part of the other."
As she spoke, Murphy gently punched Tom's chest. "Haven't you already received what was in those tears, what was wrapped in sadness, separation, and pain?"
Tom touched his chest blankly.
He didn't understand Murphy's words yet, but he could vaguely sense that the pain and tears were the same, but the pain and tears at this moment were different from those in the past.
They don't have that cold, terrifying emptiness inside; instead, they have a warm, soft core.
He started crying even more.
"To know the joy of love, one must first experience its sorrow."
