A certain broken Hogwarts
Chapter 67 The Evil Me?
Chapter 67 The Evil Me?
In the silence between them, Owen slowly pulled out a copy of "Cutting-Edge Black Magic: The Unknown Art of Darkness." His long, pale fingers gently brushed across the black spine with its dark patterns. The distorted designs on the cover had a cruel beauty that was both grotesque and mysterious.
He opened the hard cover with silver-edged corners, and a deep black vortex seemed to swirl on the title page. An evil and terrifying aura invaded his mind, but was instantly defeated by a cold, indifferent malice that welled up in his heart.
The books obediently returned to their original state, revealing the knowledge within them without reservation.
Owen raised a hand to rub his temples, coldly observing how the strange influence of the Dark Guardians helped him decipher the test mechanisms of the dark magic books. He skillfully browsed through the table of contents, even finding a chapter on Horcruxes. He skipped over the Horcrux section and finally found the information he needed at the end of the table of contents.
"The dark transformation and metamorphosis of dialogue magic."
Irving flipped to the corresponding page, ignoring the unsettling illustrations, and focused on reading the text description.
"...The dark transformation and metamorphosis of white magic are extremely advanced forms of black magic. This process is not merely a matter of reversing the flow; it is a high-level conversion that only a master of black magic can accomplish, and it is extremely dangerous..."
"But the rewards for such dangerous behavior are equally plentiful. When the light is extinguished, the remaining darkness is even more intense, and black magic derived from white magic is often more profound and unpredictable, with endless uses, for example..."
The following were several specific examples, which Owen skipped over. However, "extremely dangerous"... Voldemort's intention in teaching him this magic was clearly malicious.
"...It's worth mentioning that for a few extremely special white magic spells, such as the Patronus Charm, their conversion into black magic is particularly difficult and profound, involving the most advanced concepts of dark art, and is undoubtedly cutting-edge black magic..."
"The Patronus Charm is not only a reflection of a wizard's most positive emotions, but also represents a hidden part of the wizard's self, hailed by some as a beacon of hope and light in the darkness. Undoubtedly, the dark magic transformation of the Patronus Charm not only means the extinguishing of a part of one's positive emotions, but also a betrayal and corruption of the light of humanity."
"Only the most insane and evil dark wizards would entertain such an idea, but they often don't even have their own Patronus. Throughout history, very few wizards have been able to use dark magic to transform their Patronus; almost all of them have become the most notorious dark wizards, with the exception of those who died too young..."
The author's view is that only wizards with a hidden, terrifying dark side within them, yet which has not been awakened, have a chance of completing this transformation, but there is a lack of concrete experimental evidence. Undeniably, this transformation is extremely dangerous, and recklessly attempting it could easily result in backlash or even a curse…
"In this transformation, the guardian deity, who originally symbolized light, perishes in darkness and pain. What is conceived within that despairing shell is an empty shell filled with extreme malice and depravity, possessing a terrifying and unpredictable power. This process is clearly irreversible; it is the prelude to depravity and also the beginning of great power."
"Wizards who complete this transformation will experience an incredible increase in their affinity with dark magic, enabling them to achieve great dark feats more easily and quickly. Conversely, they will become resistant to white magic, unable to learn advanced white magic, and will require significantly more effort to use simple white magic..."
"Perhaps it has many more uses, but given the scarcity of examples, much more information remains unknown."
Owen stared blankly at the description in the book, his dark eyes gazing aimlessly at the dome reflecting the pale blue sky.
Madness, evil, depravity, darkness... are these words describing him?
How did a beginner like him learn dark magic that's listed in the same book as Horcruxes? But the Dark Guardians were supposed to possess unfathomable and terrifying power, so why didn't he sense it?
Most importantly, his guardian deity... seems unlikely to return?
Voldemort was a real dog!
"Is this really going to be a dead end?" Owen rubbed his temples with a headache, then slumped to the ground, looking up at the sky like a salted fish that had lost its dreams.
Melett tilted her round head and looked at him strangely, a hint of helplessness flashing in her golden eyes. Then she hopped onto his lap and gently licked his fingertips with her soft little tongue.
Hmph, I'll reluctantly offer you some comfort.
The kitten's childish behavior snapped Owen out of his daze. He stroked Melete's fluffy head and couldn't help but laugh.
Well, perhaps he will choose to study dark magic, but before that, he will still find a way to avoid the side effects of dark magic on his mind. In reality, nothing has really changed. One cannot completely trust what is written in books; what predecessors considered impossible may not be the truth. The future must still be created by oneself.
"Speaking of which, Ravenclaw's method might be a direction worth considering."
Although Ravenclaw himself failed and faced unexpected side effects, Irving had the Wallfacer Space as a backup, giving him countless opportunities to try and fail.
"But I still haven't found the reason for Voldemort's change in attitude towards me. He must have been targeting me in ways I don't understand." Owen shoved the book back onto the shelf, thinking casually, "Perhaps the Dark Lord has some unknown secrets..."
"Whatever, let's get rid of Voldemort as soon as possible. Looks like I need to design the stage properly." It's nothing more than using the guise of "helping" to design a series of events, and finally let the story end in an unexpected and dramatic way... This is what Owen is best at.
While pondering a jumble of random thoughts, Owen casually copied the books on the bookshelf one by one into his own enigmatic space. Only after copying most of the spellbook shelf did he bid farewell to Mettis and leave the chamber.
Before leaving the corridor, he glanced back at the direction of the Room of Requirement, pondered for a moment, and ultimately decided not to take the crown that had been made into a Horcrux.
Putting aside the fact that he's right under Voldemort's nose, Horcruxes are troublesome in themselves, especially since they were created by Voldemort at his peak, and might even have some troublesome curse on them. This hot potato is no match for Owen; even if he took it out in advance, it would just be a matter of hiding it somewhere. It's better to let it stay where it is.
Owen walked around the corner in a daze when suddenly, a strange laugh rang out, and a distorted, grotesque face appeared before him. The comical, large features darted about on the round, fat face, and the grotesque face lunged at him with a grotesque laugh, its terrifying mouth spewing out noses with two ears and wings.
"Meow—" Melete was so frightened that he lifted all four legs high and instantly took off from Owen's shoulder.
Startled as well, Owen instinctively flung out a special silver playing card, its sharp edge striking the monstrous face with immense force. A long gash appeared on the face, from which pinkish mist billowed and thrashed wildly through the corridor.
Owen then drew his wand and stared warily at the thing, only to find with annoyance that it was just a prank balloon. He also saw the Weasley twins hiding nearby, clutching their stomachs and chuckling, looking at the broken balloon with regret.
"What are you doing?" Owen asked, squinting. Melett, annoyed and embarrassed, jumped in front of the two brothers, scratching their ankles wildly with her little paws, before the brothers held her head down and stroked it so comfortably that she snored.
What a spineless bastard! Irving couldn't bear to look at his own kitten's behavior.
The twins exchanged winks and glances for a while, then stared at him with bright, mischievous eyes and said, "Hey, Shafik, what do you think of the little toys we made?"
"Barely acceptable." Owen looked at the two faces in front of him, which seemed to have spotted their prey, and commented with a half-smile.
"Ha, not bad, we love discerning customers." The brothers smiled kindly. "This is just the initial experimental version; it still needs many improvements! When it comes to pranks, we're the experts... So, any plans to invest?"
Fred: "You're someone who loves Muggle mechanisms, so you'll definitely have a keen eye to see what a brilliant future this has!"
George: "That's right, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, a highly profitable business for you!"
The two brothers, working in perfect harmony, sang their praises with great enthusiasm, vigorously promoting themselves. They were recently driven mad by a lack of money, and seeing Irving was like seeing an angel investor.
"..." Owen listened with a critical look, arms crossed, nodding occasionally, and finally said slowly, "I can try investing thirty Galleons."
"So many!" The two brothers couldn't hold back any longer. Heaven knows, they originally only wanted to get five Galleons, or even just one Galleon!
"Is it a lot?" Owen asked, feigning utter confusion, teasing them with a straight face. "Sorry, I have no concept of money."
The twins' fists clenched so tightly they cracked, but they still managed to force a slightly menacing smile at him. Ugh, I really want to hit them.
After the matter was settled, Irving waved and walked away. Fred then winked at George and said smugly, "I knew it! He really was a sucker!"
"Wrong, now it's the sugar daddy." Owen's voice drifted over like a persistent ghost.
