Chapter 51 The Dark Lord's Guardian Curse?
A moment of silence fell over the Defense Against the Dark Arts office. The two men sat facing each other across a desk, the only sound the soft hissing of the burning candlelight.
"Black magic and white magic are simply different ways of using different emotions and mental powers; they essentially lead to the same goal." After a long while, Voldemort finally put away his cold expression and slowly said, "Therefore, I am quite familiar with the Patronus Charm."
As he spoke, he glanced at Owen with a half-smile, but Owen saw undisguised amusement and inquiry in his expression, as if he were looking at a toy or an experiment.
I knew this guy had ill intentions… Owen became even more cautious. Fortunately, he had some prior knowledge of the Patronus Charm, so he wasn't completely misled.
"The Patronus Charm involves materializing emotional power into a tangible entity, which seems like very advanced magic to most wizards, but in reality it's just a basic application." Voldemort's tone was filled with undisguised contempt, both for the charm and for the "most wizards" he was referring to.
Owen could only offer a polite smile. How many people in this world could consider such advanced applications of emotional power as basic magic? However, as the Dark Lord, the other party was absolutely qualified to say such things.
"As a typical form of white magic, it has many corresponding characteristics, such as its limited applications. Patronus can only be used to ward off and drive away dark creatures like Dementors, while wizards proficient in black magic often have more ways to resist, control, and even destroy them..."
Voldemort suddenly chuckled: "Of course, many wizards believe it can protect people's hearts and is a symbol of profound magic and a pure heart... In reality, all it requires is happy memories and certain skills, but it is indeed a good way to gain fame and reputation."
Irving's lips twitched. "While you're right about everything, if you think so little of the Patronus Charm, why did you teach it to me?"
"Dumbledore... once improved this spell, using a Patronus to deliver messages and intelligence, and taught it to his Order of the Phoenix members," he said lazily. "A very unskilled improvement, more like a bit of creativity." Meeting Owen's expectant gaze, he added casually, "It's not on the agenda for today's lesson."
Irving once again resisted the urge to roll his eyes and continued listening obediently.
"The Patronus Charm is a byproduct of ancient wizards' attempts to mimic the magic of magical creatures. It can only be considered a failure, so most Patronus Charms are in the form of ordinary animals. Wizards who possess Patronus Charms in the form of magical creatures are very rare and quite talented, although the strength of a Patronus Charm is not necessarily related to its form."
"Its biggest challenge is simply to visualize the emotions, and I happen to have some unique skills in this area." Voldemort glanced at Owen with a friendly smile, which sent shivers down Owen's spine.
Kyrie Irving: You could actually laugh even more arrogantly, Dark Lord.
Voldemort then proceeded to explain the profound magical principles involved, showcasing his exceptional knowledge and insightful understanding. Although he lacked in-depth knowledge of the Patronus Charm, his comprehensive and theoretical explanations still broadened Owen's horizons.
"Recall your memories as clearly as possible, and with your will at the center, guide or suppress them, let them solidify in your mind." After explaining, Voldemort said sternly, "As for the spells and gestures, I shouldn't need to teach you anymore."
Owen shook his head with a gleam in his eyes, thoughtfully summarizing the key points. He raised his wand and pointed it at the air beside him, the tip of the wand drawing a slight circle as he recalled his own happy memories.
He recalled his memory of winning his first magic award in his past life, the immense satisfaction he felt standing on stage enjoying the applause of the crowd...
"Focus on will, guide or oppress it... guide..." Owen's mind wandered, completely oblivious to the fact that the Dark Lord was watching him.
"Call upon God for protection!" As the memories and emotions became clearer and more solidified, he finally uttered the incantation.
A thick, silvery-white mist shot out from the tip of the staff. The guardian deity had not yet taken shape, but a hazy shadow seemed to be moving merrily within the mist.
Although he didn't succeed, Owen grasped the knack of the spell on his first attempt. It must be said that Voldemort's theories and techniques played a crucial role.
"There don't seem to be any traps?" Owen's question lasted only a moment before he continued practicing methodically under the Dark Lord's supervision.
But no matter what, isn't this scene just too incongruous? He wasn't learning some terrible dark magic from the Dark Lord, but rather a guardian spell? Nobody would believe it if you told them!
The spell practice lasted for half an hour, and Owen's guardian spirit had taken on a faint outline, but it still hadn't fully formed.
Owen gradually understood the problem; perhaps it was because the memory he chose wasn't his happiest one. He tried again to recapture the joy of learning magic for the first time in this life, and the moment he combined magic and magic for the first time, astonishing his parents... but he still couldn't achieve better results.
He pondered deeply in his mind, and after a brief silence, he finally recalled the pure joy that filled his heart when he first stood on stage to perform magic and won the applause of the audience...
"Protect the Gods!"
A graceful figure leaped from the tip of the staff, twirling around Owen in mid-air with agile and light steps, its clear, silvery eyes filled with gentleness and joy.
This is a cat, a slender and graceful cat, which appears to be a Russian Blue.
It circled lightly around the office for a week before finally returning to Owen's side, slowly turning into silvery-white mist and disappearing.
Owen gripped his wand tightly, suddenly feeling a surge of joy.
Voldemort's almost tangible gaze snapped him out of his slumber.
He coughed lightly, sat upright, and looked at the Dark Lord opposite him with an unfathomable expression.
"Very well," Voldemort tapped the table with a mocking smile, "then it's time for a quiz. In my class, failing a test has very serious consequences."
Irving nodded solemnly.
"Just now, we tried to summon an interesting Patronus with happy memories and good intentions," Voldemort said in a rambling tone, a sudden look of interest in his eyes. "Now, you should try to summon it with the malice in your heart."
"Coincidentally, I'm quite knowledgeable about this," he said with a smile.
Irving's expression froze. He'd been wondering why there hadn't been a trap earlier; it turned out this was waiting for him!
