A certain broken Hogwarts

Chapter 222 A Peaceful Daily Life

Despite Harry's repeated insistence that he didn't need Owen's protection and even his attempts to persuade Dumbledore to abandon the idea, Owen secretly cast a warning spell on Harry's glasses so that he could receive an alert if Harry was in danger.

However, Owen had no intention of protecting the guy every step of the way. After returning from the headmaster's office that day, he handed the task over to Melett and Nyx, asking them to keep an eye on Harry.

The cat's keen senses allow it to detect danger in time, while Nyx possesses the ability to teleport freely at Hogwarts. Together, they can be very effective.

Reluctantly, Melett summoned her group of idle brothers and sisters. A pack of cats and raccoons of various colors lazily strolled around the castle all day, taking turns watching Harry.

Professor McGonagall, who had always been concerned about Harry's safety, was pleased with this and encouraged and praised the cats' behavior.

Harry felt that his life was getting weirder and weirder. No matter where he was, if he looked around, he would always find one or two cats or raccoons lying on the windowsill lazily sunbathing, strolling gracefully with their cat-like gait, or squatting in some corner, squinting their bright eyes and looking at him arrogantly.

Although the cats and raccoons were cute, after seeing so many, he always had the strange feeling that he was surrounded by countless Owens. Yes, their elegant and lazy posture, their smooth fur, and their squinting eyes were all very similar to Owen.

"Strange, there are so many cats and raccoons at school lately..."

During the second lesson on protecting magical creatures, Harry looked puzzled and carefully stroked the chin of a raccoon cat.

After some guidance from Irving, Hagrid seemed to finally understand that children liked animals with furry appearances. For this lesson, he brought a litter of civets from the Forbidden Forest and lured Professor McGonagall's civets over with their favorite catnip.

In this lesson, Hagrid taught the students how to identify the characteristics of a civet cat and how to care for civet cat cubs.

Irving's eyes lit up like a group of little witches as he lovingly stroked each cat, feeding them with a beaming smile, completely ignoring his friends.

"Huh? Aren't those all?" Hearing Harry's words, Draco glanced at him with his nonchalant gray eyes, his hand casually tugging at the long fur on the tip of a cat's tail.

"Meow!" The white-furred cat-like creature that was rolling around in catnip suddenly bristled, turned around and scratched Draco's hand with its claws, leaving three bloody marks, and hissed at him with its small, sharp teeth bared.

Draco stared at the scars on the back of his hand, his expression freezing instantly.

"Oh dear, didn't I just tell you? Cat-like creatures are proud and unpredictable. Unless it's already very close to you, never grab its tail..." Hagrid ran over, nagging like a mother hen, and lovingly stroked the cat-like creature's head with a fingertip to soothe its emotions.

"It scratched me!" Draco glared angrily at Hagrid, then gave the cat that had scratched him a fierce look. Shouldn't this big guy be coming over to comfort him? Did he look like he had a good temper?

Sensing his hostility, the cat-like creature bristled, arched its back, and its ears became like airplane ears.

"What are you doing, Draco?" Owen approached silently like a ghost, his pale lips slightly pursed, giving him a meticulous look. Then he bent down and skillfully soothed the cat, his gentle expression incredibly kind.

"I'm not doing anything," Draco said with a sour face. What could he do? He couldn't very well make a scene just because he was scratched by a cat; he still had some pride.

Although the raccoon dog is a magical creature, it looks just like a cute and harmless cat.

"So, why did you pull its tail?" Harry looked at Draco with a headache. When will this guy ever grow up and get rid of his bad habit of always pulling his tail and getting himself into trouble?

"Hmph, it was it that waved its tail in front of me first," Draco snorted indignantly and turned his head away.

Pansy nervously approached, took his hand, and carefully bandaged it with her flushed cheeks, her worried expression as if he had suffered some fatal injury.

Draco's chin rose higher and higher, his expression haughty and reserved, until Pansy tied a neat bow with a bandage on the back of his hand, at which point his pale face flushed pink...

The class was relaxed and enjoyable for most of the students, and even Hagrid, the professor, became popular with the young wizards; no one paid any attention to Hagrid's enormous size. Noticing this change, Hagrid grinned from ear to ear, and after class, he happily hummed a terribly lame tune.

Time passed day by day, and life at Hogwarts was unusually peaceful. No more accidents or attacks occurred, as if all dangers had been kept out of the school, and the ancient castle was filled with laughter and joy every day.

The course on protecting magical creatures has been full of fun from the very beginning. After learning about the hippogriff and the takin, Hagrid also brought in the spiky and the swallow-tailed dog. Hagrid, who is not fixated on large monsters for the time being, has demonstrated his expertise in the field of magical creatures and seems to be quite reliable so far.

But Owen keenly sensed Hagrid's eagerness; clearly, he was still determined to bring large magical creatures into the classroom, and no one knew when he would finally give up.

Defense Against the Dark Arts class is a bittersweet experience for the students.

From the second lesson onwards, Sirius Black taught them practical spells while arranging for the students to take turns playing against each other, and occasionally organizing a noisy team battle. At those times, the whole classroom was always in chaos, with spells flying everywhere and screams echoing.

Many students would fall onto the mat repeatedly during each class, their bones aching from the falls. Sometimes they would be knocked unconscious once or twice, or be struck by some strange curses. However, Sirius's healing was always very timely, leaving them no time to slack off and forcing them to get up and throw themselves back into the intense duel.

Many students complained about this, but after discovering their tremendous progress, everyone felt a great sense of accomplishment and became more active in class.

The study group members performed significantly better than the other students, which made Draco quite smug. Sirius quickly noticed this and deliberately divided the study group into two teams, leading the other students in competition. This further motivated the students and also curbed the arrogance of some.

Under Sirius's arrangement, Draco and Harry were often rivals, sometimes in duels, sometimes leading teams in battle. After a summer of training by Sirius, Harry rarely lost to Draco in one-on-one duels, but in team battles, he had both wins and losses, because Draco was very good at sneaking attacks and always came up with some unpredictable tricks.

Irving, who was clearly far beyond the students' level, was excluded from the group and basically served as Sirius's assistant in each class, helping to look after the other students. Sometimes, he would even lead a group of students in a chaotic battle against another group led by Sirius.

After each class, the windows of the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom would shatter into pieces, and the portraits hanging in the classroom would scream and protest loudly, eventually being moved outside as they wished.

In his ancient runes class, Owen had already made progress in learning another ancient rune, and for this purpose, he also dabbled in ancient Greek. Fortunately, his excellent memory allowed him to make rapid progress in learning complex languages and scripts, earning high praise from Professor Babling.

The only thing that was both funny and annoying was Divination class. In every class, Professor Trelawney would stare at Owen and Harry with her big, teary eyes, as if they were about to suddenly die. Many students in the class respected her to the point of worship and had also learned her mystical manner, always looking at the two of them with pity.

Having confirmed that he didn't have any prophetic talent, Owen lost interest in the course. After quickly completing the tasks in class each time, he spent the rest of his time immersing himself in the wall-facing space.

Harry thought he was sleeping peacefully.

At first, Trelawney would always make a big fuss when she saw this, rushing over to check Owen's breathing to make sure he was still alive. Later, when she realized that Owen was just sleeping, Trelawney would get so angry that her eyes would blurt with tears, shaking her head and loudly lamenting, "A lazy person like this can never become a prophet," and "My third eye can't see the halo around you," and so on.

Faced with Owen's willful behavior, she finally chose to ignore him in a huff, treating him as if he were invisible, and focused all her attention on predicting Harry's death.

"I thought you were always welcomed by every professor, Owen." Harry, somewhat deflated by Trelawney's series of death prophecies, said, "Professor Trelawney, this is quite unusual, isn't it?"

"Ah, you can't expect one person to be liked by everyone." Owen yawned lazily, his eyes narrowing like a cat's. "nor does he need to be liked by everyone."

"Yes, I do hope Professor Trelawney will ignore me..." Harry suddenly stared intently at him. Could that be what she was planning? Trelawney is ignoring Owen now, only focusing on him as the object of her prophecy of death.

Cunning Irving!

In addition to regular classes, the study group meetings continued as usual.

That year, with everyone's consent, the study group welcomed several new members. Daphne invited Astoria, Harry brought Ginny, Hermione and Neville brought Ron, and Owen invited Luna.

Draco maintained a weary expression towards the four newcomers. Aside from having little to say about Astoria, he looked down on the two new Weasleys and disapproved of Luna's bizarre attire.

"Can't you guys pick some normal people?" he complained, drawing out his words. "I think our team shouldn't be just any Tom, Dick, or Harry can get in. We need to raise the standards."

"It's just a group of people learning and improving together, what kind of standards do we need?" Harry asked, puzzled. He then turned to a few somewhat bewildered newcomers and said, "Relax, Draco has always been like this. He's not a bad person at heart..." He lowered his voice for the last sentence.

Taking advantage of Harry's momentary lapse in attention, Ginny proudly raised her chin and glared at Draco, then gave Harry her most beautiful smile, filled with obedience and adoration. Ron stood with Neville, his gaze darting around nervously, appearing somewhat uneasy.

Astoria ran to Daphne's side, while Luna stared at everyone with her big gray eyes, looking on with great interest. She waved happily at Owen, her little carrot earrings twitching.

"Actually, Ron came to Neville and me and asked to join the study group," Hermione once whispered to Harry. "I was surprised too, you know, he's always been a bit awkward..."

Although the integration of the newcomers was a bit bumpy, they got along quite well once they became familiar with each other. At least Harry was already used to mediating relationships between the members, especially in handling conflicts between Draco and others, where he was very experienced.

Every weekend, all members of the study group would gather in an empty classroom to study and practice spells with great enthusiasm. After their encounter with the Dementors, everyone had become even more focused on the Patronus Charm, but so far no one had become the third person after Harry and Daphne to summon their Patronus.

The headmaster's individual lessons with Harry continued. However, in addition to teaching new knowledge, he added segments promoting his own ideology. Owen saw this as brainwashing and deception.

Harry always returned from the headmaster's office with an excited, almost frantic, energy, as if he couldn't wait to throw himself into some great undertaking, which made Owen feel a little sorry for him. The kid was completely fooled.

Grindelwald is truly a scoundrel...

But for Irving, the principal's answers to his questions were as usual, as if the impassioned speech from last time had never happened.

With the other party's dedicated help, Irving quickly overcame some of the difficulties he was facing, and his research progressed rapidly across various projects.

Irving was becoming increasingly accustomed to managing his time with the Time-Turner. When he didn't have classes, he would come to the Room of Requirement and make the most of his time to conduct his research.

He didn't have time to keep an eye on Harry all the time; he would just keep the Marauder's Map by his side and glance at it when he had a spare moment.

Although he preferred to capture Bellatrix and the others, the two never showed up, and even using Harry as bait couldn't lure them out. He couldn't even find where they were; no matter how clever Owen was, he was like a skilled cook without ingredients.

With no worries to disturb him, Owen spent more time in the Wallfacer's Chamber, researching various spells that interested him, and made noticeable progress. (End of Chapter)
