Ancient Wizards Return to Hogwarts.

Chapter 28 Godric Gryffindor

Chapter 28 Godric Gryffindor

When Rice agreed to take her on the adventure, Daphne's face lit up with a bright smile.

She quickened her pace, jogged to Rice's side, and then asked him what his purpose was in sneaking out of the dorm tonight.

Surely they couldn't have gone to the kitchen to steal food, could they?

"You might not know why this area is called the dungeon," Rice said softly, glancing at Daphne who was following behind him.

"Is it because it's located in the castle's dungeon area?"

Rice: ...

It's almost identical to the idea that "your name is Daphne, so you are called Daphne."

He pursed his lips. "Because this place really did imprison and seal away some of the four founders' enemies and evil spirits who tried to take over Hogwarts."

"Why not kill them?"

"Did you not get a perfect score because you didn't want to?" Rice retorted.

He suddenly wondered if he had misjudged the guy. This guy's comprehension... no, he needed to observe him further before jumping to conclusions.

Daphne obediently shut her mouth.

"Because many dark creatures cannot be killed, we can only seal them away. Many of the dark creatures defeated by the four great masters during their adventures are sealed in the dungeons of Hogwarts—you've heard of dark creatures, haven't you?"

Daphne thought back and remembered her father mentioning Dementors and Groundbats.

"Yes, they count too."

"So we're going to check the seal on these bad guys to prevent them from escaping?"

"That's right!"

Without wasting any time, Rice explained the purpose of their trip to Daphne while leading her deeper into the dungeon.

Daphne was curious about how Rice knew these things, but she knew Rice couldn't answer that question.

She increasingly felt that the boy in front of her was extraordinary; he might really be the heir of a reclusive, ancient magical family, just as she had imagined.

"Logically, each headmaster has the obligation to reinforce the seal." Rice surveyed the surroundings. The area near the Slytherin common room was fine, but after descending several dozen meters, the tunnel began to deteriorate.

Further down, the torches on the walls disappear, indicating that the maintenance by Hogwarts staff has ended. From here on, the dungeon's danger level gradually increases, and accidents can happen at any time.

Rice noticed a rusty sign on the wall that read: [Extremely Dangerous, Do Not Enter]

"Stay close to me." Rice used magic to ignite a fire, illuminating the surroundings. Daphne obediently flashed behind him, but her eyes were never idle, taking in everything around her.

After taking several dozen more steps deeper into the dungeon, cracks even began to appear in the floor tiles and walls, and Rice's heart sank to the bottom: how could he believe that the seal was properly maintained?

For the next fifteen minutes, Rice wandered around the dilapidated, dark dungeon. The dungeon was damp and cold; had Rice not conjured a fire, the two of them would have caught a cold.

After passing the fourth fork in the road, Daphne was completely disoriented, convinced that she would be lost if she were alone. Fortunately, Rice seemed perfectly at ease, which reassured her: as long as one of them remembered the way, it would be fine.

Rice suddenly stopped in his tracks, raising the flame to illuminate the path ahead—a dead end lay ahead, a wall blocking the way.

Just as Daphne was about to turn around, she heard Rice's voice: "We're here."

Rice stretched out his left palm and pressed it against the wall, and then the wall melted and disappeared as quickly as dry ice exposed to the air.

"I opened the surface seal of the dungeon. The paths we just walked on, though without torches and looking dilapidated, weren't very dangerous. But things will be different from here on out. You absolutely must not get ahead of me," Rice warned Daphne earnestly.

A thousand years have passed, and no one knows the state of the dungeon; it's best to be cautious.

The moment Daphne stepped into the area behind the stone wall, she sensed the difference: it was more oppressive here than outside, making it hard to breathe.

She instinctively wanted to leave, but seeing that Rice showed no sign of returning, she could only grit her teeth and persevere.

After walking more than ten meters along the passage, a cloud of mist suddenly rose in the corridor, and Daphne subconsciously covered her mouth and nose.

"Don't worry, just stand behind me." Rice drew his wand and pointed it straight ahead.

The fog rushed toward him, but stopped a few feet in front of him, as if he had hit an invisible wall.

After being blocked, the fog in the corridor suddenly thickened, and after a few seconds it became almost tangible. Then, a figure appeared in the fog.

Daphne suddenly covered her mouth.

Night watchman? Her first thought was that she and Rice were going to be put in solitary confinement, but she immediately realized that this was deep inside the Hogwarts dungeons, how could there be any faculty or staff patrolling here?

Rice had already guessed the other party's true form, which made him a little worried: if he encountered such a monster on the surface, who knows what else he might encounter if he went deeper!

The white mist gathered towards the figure, gradually solidifying until the figure became clearer, and finally a tall, strong middle-aged man appeared before Rice and Daphne.

The man had a lion's mane and an exaggerated head of wavy red hair, along with a beard that was just as impressive. But what was most striking were his eyes; even the thick fur couldn't conceal his pair of bright green pupils, which shone like two emeralds engulfed in flames.

"You know what to do." The man's voice was deep and resonant, like a bass in a stage play. He looked down at the "short and thin" Rice and grinned.

"Hmm." Rice sighed.

A beam of light shot out from the tip of his staff, piercing the man's chest cavity with a whoosh, leaving a fist-sized hole.

The man's smile froze instantly, then his features contorted. White mist rushed toward the hole as if it were free, trying to fill it in.

However, one after another, the intense light blasted the man's upper body into pieces.

After being blasted to pieces, the man reverted to his white mist form and fled in a direction away from Rice.

At this moment, the air wall that Rice conjured moved. Like a fishing net, it caught the fleeing white mist and then slowly closed, without letting a single wisp of mist escape.

Rice slowly turned his wand, gradually shrinking the area of the air wall, compressing the white mist again and again, until finally the white mist that had covered half the corridor was compressed into a white bead the size of a fist.

This demon of desire hasn't made any progress in the past thousand years.

Rice smiled and weighed the beads in his hand.

A lust demon is a monster that can read memories and transform into the likeness of the people within those memories, usually requiring considerable effort. Unfortunately, today this ignorant monster has chosen to become Godric Gryffindor.

Its transformation was not a failure; on the contrary, it was too successful, even replicating Gryffindor's personality, which forced it to surrender.
