I, Hogwarts Second Time Around.
Chapter 565 Training Area
Chapter 565 Training Area
Enemies are everywhere in the ruins.
Here, the fairies have completely lost control.
When Owen and Hermione arrived at the elevator, they found that it had gone out of control, and the runes on its surface no longer shone; it had turned into a stone.
"It seems the elevator is also part of the ruins," Owen said, then opened his arms and hugged Hermione.
Like any other important place, the Fairy Kingdom is protected by a powerful anti-Apparition spell, even more so than Hogwarts. The fairies must have used their magic to render their own Apparition spell ineffective.
"Hold me tight—"
Hermione blushed slightly and obeyed Owen's request, pressing her entire body against him and firmly gripping his back with both arms.
Then she realized that her feet seemed to have left the ground.
Irving took her flying.
Like an arrow, or a shooting star, it streaked upwards at an unimaginable speed, trailing a long white plume of smoke.
Flying Charm—this is a spell invented by Voldemort.
The flight spell that Owen cast was no different from Voldemort's original spell, the only difference being that he changed the color, replacing the black smoke with white smoke.
He had originally planned to give the spell to Hermione.
But during that time Hermione and the other young wizards were busy learning the Apparition Charm and other defense spells against the dark magic.
So he temporarily abandoned his plan to teach the flight spell—and as for what happened later, he forgot about it because there were too many things to do.
Nestled in Owen's arms, Hermione felt the exhilarating speed of flight, a mixture of surprise and happiness filling her heart. "You can fly!" she exclaimed incredulously, her voice trembling slightly.
"I'll teach you in a few days," Owen said.
"good--"
The speed of the flight spell far exceeded that of the elevator. In the blink of an eye, Owen had taken Hermione away from the underground ruins and returned to the goblin city.
As soon as they landed, several strange fairies rushed up at them.
Owen and Hermione exchanged a glance, and without a word, they tacitly deployed their defenses. Owen casually waved his wand, and a few precise spells instantly knocked the leading monsters to the ground.
But they seemed unfazed and continued to advance one after another.
At that moment, Sirius Black appeared in their sight like a savior. He was wearing a black robe and his brows were furrowed. Only after seeing Owen and Hermione did his expression soften slightly.
"Owen, Hermione." He waved the spell, activating the Ironclad Charm to hold back the numerous monsters.
"Are you all alright?"
"It's nothing," Irving replied with a shrug.
He was quite certain that the person in front of him was Sirius Black himself.
The monsters were poorly disguised and didn't seem to know how to cast spells.
"boom--"
Several strange noises came from behind; it was as if a few pieces of gravel had hit the Ironclad Curse.
"Hmm?" Owen glanced sideways. He had just thought these guys couldn't cast spells, and they'd already shown him something.
A large group of strange fairies ahead were manipulating more rubble and debris, throwing them at them.
Those that had already rushed to Sirius's Ironclad Curse stretched out their hands, and then, in full view of everyone, their hands turned into some kind of flowing metal, which then slowly transformed into longswords.
The monsters, their arms transformed into longswords, swung wildly at the Ironclad Curse.
This scene instantly reminded Hermione of something, and she blurted out, "This is—those metal slugs!" Her voice carried a hint of shock and unease, but her hands moved without hesitation. A series of complex spells flew from her mouth, like a woven net, quickly and accurately covering the monsters wielding metal longswords and defeating them one by one.
"The fairies call these things Golun," Sirius explained while fending off the Golun's attacks. "A few minutes ago, these creatures suddenly went limp, and then after about ten seconds, they began to transform into fairy forms and launch a rebellion."
"Gorun? A few minutes ago?" Owen clicked his tongue, realizing it was because he had taken the Star Tear from the obelisk.
It turns out that the obelisk's rewriting of the mindset regarding artificial life is not permanent—it has to be maintained indefinitely.
As for the name Golun—in the third century BC, the Talmud recorded the story of a homunculus named Golun and the method of its creation. The word Golun first appeared in the Psalms of the Old Testament, meaning "human beings who were not yet formed": before God put the soul into Adam's body, the latter was merely a clay figure, and thus is considered the first Golun.
Later, some rabbis skilled in Jewish mysticism sculpted human figures from clay and inscribed sacred Hebrew words on their foreheads, generating magical power to create artificial humans with basic abilities. Rabbi Rapha sent a golem to a friend, who spoke to it but received no response. The friend then said, "You were created by the wise, and you shall return to dust."
Upon hearing this, the Gelun immediately turned into a pile of mud. This shows that the Gelun was slow-moving, had no emotions or language, and could only obey orders; he was nothing more than a walking corpse.
The creature represented by this legendary name bears a striking resemblance to those created by fairies in reality.
"Owen—" Hermione also realized that the Gorlon's rebellion might be because they took the Star Tear.
"Don't look at me." Owen shrugged. "I only know how to take it out, but I don't know how to put it back in."
Hehe—even if I knew, I wouldn't give it back.
There's no reason for him to return the treasures he obtained. As for the demons, what does their life or death have to do with him?
"How are things with the fairies?" To avoid Hermione getting entangled with him, Owen immediately changed the subject, asking Sirius, "These guys don't seem to have much strength."
Indeed, these creatures called Golun have very limited attack methods; aside from their thick hides and tough flesh, their only slightly troublesome ability is their ability to manipulate rubble. Fairies are creatures no weaker than wizards; surely they shouldn't be unable to defeat these worthless man-made beings.
"The fairies suffered heavy losses."
"ha?"
"You forgot they're all infected with [Omen]." Sirius waved his wand and took care of another large group of Golun. The three of them headed towards the fairy royal court along the path they had come from.
"The weakened fairies were suddenly attacked by their own servants. Most of the fairies didn't even have time to react before they were eaten by Golun."
"Eaten it? No wonder we haven't seen any fairy corpses along the way," Owen said.
"The remaining fairies are currently holding out at the royal court. Koyatl is there too," Sirius said. "Gorun isn't exactly formidable. Besides being thick-skinned and tough, he doesn't have any other skills. The fairies who have recovered can handle him on their own."
"Indeed, there are quite a few fairies in this city."
Owen had previously speculated that the city might have hundreds of thousands of fairies. Even if all of these fairies were infected with the [Ominous Sign], there would be priorities. A few thousand mildly infected fairies like Renak would be enough to suppress this group of artificial creatures.
However, the fairies will definitely suffer heavy casualties. Those heavily armed fairies, caught off guard, will surely suffer heavy losses.
Fighting.
The three of them then arrived at the Fairy King's Court.
From afar, Owen saw Koyatl leading the charge, wielding his wand and unleashing a powerful Origin Spell against hundreds of Goluns.
Behind her, the fairies were also helping, using all sorts of spells, but their power was far less than that of the Origin Spells.
It's hard to imagine that she would one day protect a fairy.
Just as Irving was expressing these sentiments.
Koyatl immediately ran towards them.
Because of her sudden departure, the fairies' defenses were severely breached, and several fairies were instantly beheaded by the sudden attack of Gerun.
A commotion immediately arose among the fairies.
With a few strange, shrill sounds, the shattered battle lines were reorganized.
The void left by Koyater was filled by the fairies.
"Uh—" Owen raised an eyebrow. This guy really didn't care about the fairy's life or death.
Sigrún has taught at the Iceland University of the Arts as a part-time lecturer since and was Dean of the Department of Fine Art from -. In – she held a research position at Reykjavík Art Museum focusing on the role of women in Icelandic art. She studied fine art at the Icelandic College of Arts and Crafts and at Pratt Institute, New York, and holds BA and MA degrees in art history and philosophy from the University of Iceland. Sigrún lives and works in Iceland.
The rebellion of Gorun was quelled by the fairies within hours.
Is this really considered an opponent?
It wasn't even as dangerous as some of Fred and George's prank props.
Next comes the cleanup operation. After all, there are many Golun people, and the kingdom is very large, so there must be some remnants in some places.
As for Owen, he became interested in the goblins rushing towards the ruins in a panic.
Led by a group of fairies, they headed to a breeding area specifically for producing Golun.
This is a huge tree-shaped factory.
A faint, unsettling mist hung in the air, as if even the light was being absorbed by it. The surrounding scenery was eerie and strange. Beneath the enormous tree-like structures, countless huge containers, resembling insect eggs, hung densely. Inside the containers, a viscous, silvery liquid could be vaguely seen flowing slowly, and occasionally, a low gurgling sound could be heard—the sound of the Golun embryo developing within the liquid.
Irving walked over to the container next to him and wiped away the dust from its surface.
Inside the container, a silver, embryo-like object was clearly visible.
A long umbilical cord extends from the embryo's abdomen, connecting to the top of the container, presumably from which various nutrients are supplied to the embryo.
Irving looked away and gazed at the jars on either side and even further away.
Not all jars contain embryos.
The further down the tree-like factory goes, the more fully the embryo develops.
This led Owen to see many terrifying things—the fairies seemed to be experimenting with the bloodlines of various creatures to create Golun.
Irving saw at least a dozen kinds of creatures, including centaurs, mermaids, and humans.
These mixed biological bloodlines intertwined and merged in the silvery liquid, forming a series of bizarre and breathtaking scenes.
Some embryos already resembled humans, but their limbs were twisted into the shape of fish fins or horseshoes; others grew scales that covered what should have been smooth skin; still others had blurred facial features, as if they were a fusion of facial features from multiple organisms, neither human nor any known species.
Any normal wizard, standing here in this mad place that challenges the laws of nature and the boundaries of ethics, would succumb to madness.
But Irving didn't have that many thoughts.
There wasn't even any emotion like anger.
I just watched calmly.
Suddenly, a deep, powerful heartbeat echoed throughout the tree-like factory, emanating from the core of the tree-like structure—within a huge, peculiar jar.
That special jar, compared to the others, appeared more magnificent and mysterious. Its surface was inlaid with strange runes that flickered slightly with the rhythm of a heartbeat, as if it contained some ancient and powerful force.
The sound of his heartbeat grew clearer, each beat vibrating the surrounding air, causing Irving to focus all his attention on the jar.
Inside the jar, the silver liquid churned even more violently, as if stirred by an invisible force.
In this chaos, a figure gradually emerged. Its outline was blurred, but one could feel an unprecedented vitality and a sense of oppression.
This is not merely an embryo, but more like an ancient deity about to awaken, containing unimaginable power and wisdom.
"Tsk—"
When Irving saw clearly what the creature in the jar looked like, a cold smile crept onto his lips.
Although the figure inside the jar was only in the initial stages of human form.
But the silver hair, and the fact that I was standing here, seemed to sense something, and the creature opened its crimson eyes.
Miss Granger was right.
Fairies really do have plans to create gods.
"Mr. Rozier." The fairy Frans looked at him with some fear.
Upon realizing Gorlund's betrayal, Frans and a group of fairy scholars immediately realized that something unusual might be happening in the breeding area.
I was in such a hurry when I arrived that I didn’t notice anyone following me.
He had just inspected many embryo jars. Most of them were already dead. This was something he had expected; the moment he stepped into the ruins, he keenly sensed that the ancient magic that served as the energy source within the ruins had vanished.
Although he couldn't sense the ancient magic, he had studied and been in contact with magic for decades. Even though he wasn't the inheritor, some ancient magic had seeped into his body over time. It was small, but it gave him a keen intuition—an intuition for ancient magic.
Now, this incubation room gives him a strong sense of loss.
But—this embryo in front of us is different.
Although the embryo itself only takes on a human form, he knows that the other party is a living being.
"Heh—" Owen chuckled coldly. His gaze didn't linger on the fairy Frans, but instead remained fixed on the embryo in the jar before him.
The life in the jar had nothing to do with him.
Fairies cannot obtain his bloodline.
Silver hair and red eyes—
Or perhaps—
Irving considered a possibility. It seemed absurd and required evidence.
"Humans—"
Suddenly, a clear, ethereal voice reached his ears.
Unsurprisingly, the odor emanating from this half-dead embryo in front of us was coming from.
Without any hesitation.
Owen raised his wand, and the Avada Kedavra curse instantly engulfed the entire jar.
