Pokémon: Starting with a Pokémon Ranch.

Chapter 94 The Anxiety of the Giant Tongue Shells

Chapter 94 The Anxiety of the Giant Tongue Shells

The story begins this morning when Su Yu went out to deliver goat milk.

Shortly after Su Yu left the ranch, the Farfetch'd also woke up from its sleep.

It took the fishing rod that Su Yu had given it the day before yesterday and went out to fish by the lake.

Meanwhile, Squirtle had finished watering the field. Seeing Farfetch'd carrying a fishing rod towards the field, it followed, chuckling:

"Jenny, Jenny~!" Want to go fishing? Let's go together.

"Quack~" Upon hearing this, Farfetch'd nodded in a friendly manner, and the two Pokémon carried buckets and fishing rods to the lakeside and found a spot to start fishing.

However, after fishing for a short while, the Farfetch'ds noticed strange noises in the water.

Seemingly noticing that the water level in the lake had dropped due to the introduction of water into the fishpond, the giant clams in the lake began to complain.

They gathered in groups near the sluice gate separating the fishpond and Moon Lake, discussing what to do next. Just then, the fishhook cast by the Farfetch'd landed near the giant clams.

Seeing Pokémon fishing on the shore, the Shellder immediately realized that this must be the culprit causing the lake level to drop.

So they rushed to the shore, intending to argue with the Farfetch'd ducks.

"Jenny, Jenny..." That's how it is.

Rancher, you'd better hurry over and take a look. If you're too late, the Farfetch'd and the Giant Tongue Clams might start fighting.

Upon hearing this, Su Yu's expression turned strange.

Will the drop in lake water level attract the attention of the giant tongue shellfish?

Probably not. Although the fishpond is quite large, compared to the vast body of water in Moon Lake, the water level shouldn't have dropped that much.

What those giant clams were worried about was that Su Yu would take water from Moon Lake multiple times when raising fish, causing Moon Lake to dry up.

But that's perfect, since Su Yu had been wanting to negotiate with the giant tongue shellfish in the lake for a long time.

After all, in Squirtle's original plan, Lake Moon was preserved as a habitat for Pokémon. And Su Yu providing a place for these Pokémon to live was naturally for their own production.

Pearls produced by giant oysters and coral horns produced by sun corals are quite good products. Su Yu plans to sell these products to increase the output of the ranch.

To obtain these items, one naturally needs to negotiate with the Pokémon in the lake and obtain their permission.

Seeing that Squirtle seemed to still be thinking of running back to Moon Lake, Su Yu patted Tropius's back and said:

"Let's not run, let the tropical dragon lead us there, it'll be faster."

"Oh... I almost forgot, your legs are too short to climb up."

Reaching out and grabbing Squirtle's shell, Su Yu lifted it onto Tropius's back. Surprisingly, Squirtle felt rather heavy during this process.

"Did you use the shell care product Yang Hao gave you? Why have you gotten so heavy?"

According to the Pokédex, Squirtle only weighs nine kilograms, so it's impossible for it to be that heavy.

"Squirrel, Squirrel~!" Upon hearing this, Squirrel nodded; it had indeed used it immediately last night. After using it, its shell became shiny and bright.

However, what made Su Yu feel that Squirtle was heavy wasn't the shell conditioner. Squirtle patted its pack, indicating that the contents inside were the heaviest.

"Oh... I almost forgot, you always carry that dumbbell with you." Su Yu said speechlessly, looking at Squirtle's bag.

This Squirtle carries its bag on its back whether it's exercising or watering the plants. Its weight is comparable to weight training.

Riding the tropical dragon, Su Yu and his companions quickly arrived at the lakeside.

At this moment, the Farfetch'd and the Clams were arguing. The Clams had the advantage in numbers.

Su Yu rarely witnessed Farfetch'd so angry, and he was quite surprised to see this. So, Farfetch'd actually has a day when he talks so much?

Seeing this, Squirtle added that before the Shellders came to argue, some of the mischievous Shellders had secretly played a prank on Farfetch'd.

Looking at the empty bucket next to the farfalle, Su Yu understood. It turned out that the clams had chased the fish away from the bottom of the water, which was why the farfalle couldn't catch any fish.

Moreover, it seems that those tuna were deliberately making the sound of catching a fish next to the hook, in order to make the farfalle think that a fish had taken the bait, just to tease it.

"No wonder Farfetch'd was so angry."

Su Yu was thinking this when, just as he was about to go forward to offer some advice, a male trainer who looked like a hiker, carrying a large backpack and seemingly on a trip, suddenly walked up to him. As he approached, he said:

"Hey, hey, hey, how can Pokémon fight like this? Stop arguing!"

"Bad Frog, hurry up and help break up the fight, let them calm down first."

As he spoke, the trainer released a frog-like Pokémon whose cheeks were constantly bulging.

This is exactly the bad frog that the trainer was talking about.

As soon as the scoundrel appeared, it rushed between Farfetch'd and Trolley, blocking Farfetch'd's view.

The Shellders around them, seeing a Pokémon suddenly appear out of nowhere, quickly retreated and kept a safe distance from the Croagunk.

Just then, the male trainer approached and asked the Shellders:

"What happened that made you two argue? Arguing won't solve anything. Why don't you tell me what happened? Maybe I can help you."

"Whoa!!"

"Ouch..."

Upon hearing this, the Shellders began chattering excitedly, explaining the situation in a chaotic cacophony. Seeing this, the male trainer looked at the Delinquent and asked:

"Did you understand what they were saying?"

Upon hearing this, the naughty frog stood there blankly, panting heavily. Then, the naughty frog shook its head.

"Ku..." I didn't hear it clearly.

Seeing this, the male trainer felt a little embarrassed. He had come to mediate the fight, so why was he unable to do so because of the language barrier?

Seeing that the two sides were about to start arguing again, Su Yu stepped forward and said with a smile:

"Let me handle this. I understand the language of Pokémon, and I roughly know why they're arguing."

"Ah? Oh, okay." Upon hearing this, the male trainer quickly stepped aside, making room for Su Yu.

Su Yu stepped forward and began negotiating with the giant tongue shells. Just as he had suspected, the giant tongue shells' concern was simply that the lake would be drained of water.

Having understood the concerns of the giant tongue shellfish, Su Yu assured them:

"Don't worry, the lake will never run dry. The water used for fish farming is only a small part of it."

"Besides, spring is just around the corner. Do you still worry about the lake running dry in spring? Even if it does run dry, I'll spend money to hire a Pokémon that can use the Rain Dance move to replenish the lake's water. Don't worry."

"Huh? Really?"

"Of course it's true, I assure you," Su Yu replied.

There's no need to deceive them about such things.

Hearing Su Yu's assurance, the giant tongue clams were much relieved. Taking this opportunity, Su Yu also mentioned the matter of retrieval the pearls from the water.

"I see there are quite a few pearls produced by you in this lake. Those things don't seem to be of any use to you, so could I send someone down to retrieve them?" Su Yu asked tentatively.

Upon hearing this, the giant oysters seemed quite indifferent. Pearls were, after all, useless resources for them. If Su Yu took them, it wouldn't be a loss for them.

Seeing that everything was resolved, the giant clams returned to the lake and calmed down completely.
