Konoha: This Uchiha is extremely sneaky

Chapter 18 The Passing Years

Chapter 18 The Passing Years

"Wow! That wild boar is huge!"

At this time, Uchiha Toshiro had safely returned to the canyon campsite with his companions.

Their main prey for the day, a wild boar weighing over 300 pounds, was placed on a simple wooden sled and pulled forward by the six of them.

The friends who rushed over after hearing the news gathered in small groups around, watching curiously and occasionally letting out exclamations of amazement.

Normally, their prey consists of pheasants, rabbits, or fish caught from the streams in the valley. Today, however, these kids have certainly seen something new.

Uchiha Ryuka, Yukito, Mamoru, and En were like victorious ninjas returning to the village, receiving a warm welcome from the villagers. They walked with haughty swagger, not even glancing at anyone, displaying an arrogant air.

Some observant girls noticed the boar's fatal wound. They all blushed and covered their eyes with their hands. However, some of them didn't cover their eyes completely, and through the gaps, bright eyes could still be seen.

He gave way to his companion to take over, continuing to drag the boar carcass. Uchiha Toshiro was indeed facing a dilemma; using boiling water to remove the hair from such a large boar was definitely not going to work, and he would probably have to skin it directly.

Moving around would be extremely difficult, and there were no suitable tools or cutting boards nearby. Looking around, he spotted a shallow area covered in pebbles by the riverbank and had an idea. As for actually doing it, only he could handle it; he couldn't rely on these kids.

"Let me tell you, that wild boar was only a body length away from me, and I did a fish-like leap and somersault..."

"Dragonfire, stop bragging. Lead them and drag the wild boar to the shallows over there. Be careful not to cut your feet on the pebbles in the river!"

Roasting the whole thing was definitely out of the question; firstly, we wouldn't be able to finish it, and secondly, without marinating, it probably wouldn't taste very good. Noticing some nice stones nearby, Uchiha Toshiro decided to try a different approach. He happened to have prepared quite a few barbecue ingredients.

"Everyone, don't just stand here watching the fun. Go and gather some firewood. And Hidefumi, you're always fishing by the river. Are there any smooth stone slabs around here? Preferably large, but not too thick, and preferably made of solid material. Nothing too brittle will do."

Uchiha Ryuka was initially annoyed that his "shining moment" had been interrupted. However, upon seeing Uchiha Toshiro's threatening gaze, he seemed to realize something, his face flushed, and he quickly complied, adopting a fawning demeanor.

He pulled a thick-backed broadsword from his backpack, specifically designed for chopping tree branches. Uchiha Toshiro never imagined he'd one day become a "butcher"...

Under the warm, gentle midday sun of spring, in the canyon along the Naga River, the Uchiha brats were huddled together in three groups, waiting quietly.

"Toshiro! Is this really how you do it? I've never seen meat grilled on a stone slab before →_→" It was Uchiha Ryuka who spoke first again. He's really good at causing trouble, but he's incompetent at doing things.

"Whether it's good or not, we'll find out after we try it. But Ryuho, you performed terribly today. Hmm! I'll punish you by making you grill meat for us later!" Uchiha Toshiro said confidently, glancing sideways at the unruly guy.

Before him stood a fire pit, its base constructed from stones sourced locally. A layer of silt dredged from the river had been mixed into the inside, allowing for ventilation and firewood intake, before a stone slab was placed on top. Thus, a special stone grill for grilling meat appeared in the ninja world.

He casually checked the temperature of the stone slab; it was already getting hot. Uchiha Toshiro personally poured an appropriate amount of pre-prepared oil onto the slab, then spread it evenly with a brush, explaining the process to his companions in the other two locations as he did so…

Using chopsticks, I carefully picked a large leaf from the side to use as a serving plate, and placed more than 20 slices of pork on the stone slab. Once one side was sizzling and dripping with oil, I quickly spread the sauce on it and flipped it over.

A gentle breeze carried the faint aroma of roasted meat, a blend of chili and cumin.

"Mmm, delicious! It's so delicious! It tastes even better than what I had at BBQ Q ^_^" Surprisingly, it was Uchiha Asaka who made the first move. Usually quiet and reserved, she unexpectedly understood the importance of striking first when it mattered.

"Really? Asaka, you're not kidding us, are you?" Uchiha Ryuka was deeply skeptical of this, because he had been tricked too many times in this regard. When playing "Werewolf" with everyone, he had been completely fooled by her and Homura several times.

"Ah! You're all so cunning!" Before he could even react, there were hardly any pieces of roasted meat left on the stone slab.

While the cooking techniques and sauces may not be as good as those for grilled meat, the freshly slaughtered wild boar, especially the shoulder meat, is perfect for grilling, especially when combined with this novel way of eating.

The sounds of scrambling and fighting filled the air.

"You're so stupid! And Longhuo, why aren't you setting out the meat yet?" Snatching the last piece of roasted meat from the stone slab, ignoring Longhuo's tearful gaze, Chaoxia didn't forget to add insult to injury.

……

"Hideo, don't stuff so much firewood in! It's already smoking! Are you choking on it?"

"Who collected this firewood? Why is it still wet?"

"Longhuo, you idiot, you've brushed on so much sauce! Are you trying to kill us with the spiciness so you can eat all the grilled meat yourself?"

"Stop! Stop! If you pour any more oil, it'll overflow!"

Even if a six- or seven-year-old child successfully extracts chakra, a self-organized camping trip will still be full of bumps and squabbles.

Twenty or so kids devoured eighty or ninety pounds of wild boar meat in one go. Even if they all successfully extracted chakra, and their appetite and digestive abilities far exceeded those of normal children, this amount still exceeded their capacity to handle it.

"I'm so full! I feel like my stomach can't hold any more!" he exclaimed. Uchiha Toshiro sat on the grass with everyone, his hands behind his back, quietly enjoying this leisurely and pleasant time.

"Yeah! I'm so happy! I really wish I could stay in this moment forever..." someone exclaimed.

The wind gradually picked up, blowing along the distant mountain ridge, over the hillside, and across the ridge, cleansing the entire valley overgrown with weeds.

The bright and colorful wildflowers on the hillside swayed in the wind and rustled.

The clouds drifted across the sky, and sunlight streamed through the gaps, casting long, slanted bands of light that fell upon the group. The lush, massive canopies swayed in the wind, rustling softly, their shadows dancing in the breeze. In the distance, the gentle murmur of flowing water brought a sense of peace and tranquility.

Amidst this harmonious blend of sounds, Uchiha Toshiro's eyelids twitched twice before he drifted off to sleep...
