Mystery: The Undead Don't Die from Linking the Fire
Chapter 382 The Beginning of the Divine War
Adam looked at the "prophecy" he had written himself, his expression utterly calm.
If He were to merge with the true Creator, He could at least write two prophecies. But in that case, His consciousness would no longer be dominated by Him, but by the true Creator.
If things truly reach a point of no return, Adam will calmly accept his fate and humble himself.
But at least it hasn't come to that point yet; he still has a chance to turn things around.
However, this meant He was unable to merge with the true Creator, nor did He have the aid of the first blasphemous tablet. In His current state, writing a single prophecy was already His limit.
After all, the objects of His prophecy were two gods.
To manipulate the actions of other deities, the subject of a prophecy must be both clear and concise. Clarity ensures that they will act, while conciseness prevents them from detecting any suspicious activity and thus invalidating the prophecy.
Adam had plenty of experience in this regard.
-
Remnburg, a battlefield outside the capital city of Aissara.
Led by a flaming javelin, clusters of condensed crimson fireballs flew over the area littered with corpses, weapons, blood, and smoke, landing on the area with makeshift fortifications and creating a series of explosions.
As the smoke rose and the flames danced, Anderson brushed the dust off his hands, turned to his deputy beside him, and smiled:
"It looks like we won't last much longer... Is there anything you want to say before you leave? I can help you write your wills."
He saw the angry looks in the eyes of the soldiers around him, and their thoughts were exactly the same.
His adjutant said in a cold tone:
"We would not be here under your command if it weren't for General Edwina's orders."
"Adeline."
Anderson gave his adjutant a deep look, then looked up at the sky.
His gaze pierced through the smoke-filled, fire-scorched battlefield and fell upon a woman, a woman of striking beauty.
She had a pair of light blue eyes that resembled clear spring water, an oval face, a high nose bridge, and thin lips. Her long brown hair was parted in the middle and tied in a simple yet elegant knot at the back of her head, then flowed smoothly down.
She was not wearing a hat and was dressed in a dark blue army general's uniform.
Anderson knew her, Edwina Edwards.
Her ancestor, Edwards, was one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse under Emperor Roselle, and was a renowned noble family in the Intis Empire. However, his good fortune was short-lived, as Emperor Roselle soon perished in an assassination attempt by the Eternal Sun Cult, and the Edwards family, who were subservient to Emperor Roselle, were naturally purged.
To avoid being persecuted, Edwards moved his family to Remburg and became a devout follower of the Church of Knowledge.
It was precisely because of Edwina's loyalty to her faith that she led the Golden Dream back to the Misty Sea at the very beginning of the war to cooperate with Segal's navy against the navies of the Republic of Intis and the Kingdom of Feneport.
When Segal completely fell and the last port was occupied by the Intis, Edwina did not leave. Instead, she disbanded the crew of the Golden Dream and returned to Remburg alone to continue fighting against the invaders from the Intis and Feneport.
It was precisely because of her loyalty that she was given the opportunity to be promoted to Sequence 4.
Today, she is a theater commander on the Lenburg-Aysara defense line.
"Compared to her, I am indeed far inferior."
Anderson chuckled self-deprecatingly. He was from Segal, born in Segal, and educated in Remnantburg, theoretically a follower of the Church of Knowledge. But compared to Edwina, his faith wasn't as devout.
In addition, the inherent characteristics of his own path have made him not very popular in the Church of Knowledge; well, one would say he is quite disliked.
Otherwise, he wouldn't need to prepare the promotion ceremony himself or the extraordinary materials himself.
Anderson changed the subject, raising an eyebrow as he said:
"However, I don't think even Edwina could make you fight to the death, would she?"
"The defeat of Remnantburg is only a matter of time; perhaps today, perhaps tomorrow, Azshara will fall. And you are not even true believers of the God of Knowledge and Wisdom, so how could you possibly be willing to dedicate everything to the Church of Knowledge?"
"You brought up Edwina just to mislead me, to make me think you will continue to carry out Edwina's orders, and thus lower my guard against you."
Before the adjutant and the 'soldiers' could respond, the hunter smiled and continued:
"You're planning to surrender, aren't you? You want to protect your family and friends this way?"
Seeing all the gazes suddenly turn towards him, Anderson clicked his tongue and shook his head:
"You haven't been extraordinary for very long. It was only through the outbreak of war that you were able to obtain the main ingredients for potions from the enemy, which allowed you to successively become 'Hunters,' 'Provocateurs,' and 'Arsonists.' But when it comes to conspiracy, you are still too naive."
"I'm curious, why don't you try to persuade me to surrender with you? I don't think I usually appear that resolute, and I'm not a believer in the 'God of Knowledge and Wisdom'."
At this point, Anderson glanced thoughtfully at his adjutant:
"Were the higher-ups on the other side completely enraged by me, and issued orders not to accept my surrender?"
The adjutant paused for a few seconds before speaking:
"You already know, so why are you asking?"
In a flash, the nearby soldiers all raised their right hands, palms facing Anderson, showing remarkable coordination.
"How can I be sure everyone thinks the same way if I don't ask?" Anderson said with a calm smile.
He touched his stomach with his left hand and put his right hand into his pocket, seemingly groping for something.
At that moment, the sun high in the sky suddenly expanded, becoming extremely large. The intense golden sunlight made it impossible for Anderson and the others to open their eyes or even think of anything else.
Then, a phantom tower appeared, each level composed of thick books, each with a brass-colored eye on it. The higher the level, the darker it became, filled with an aura of madness, destruction, ominousness, and disaster.
The tower stretches into the sky, as if it has enclosed the entire world within itself, including the enormous sun.
Every movement Anderson made became incredibly difficult, and two words almost instinctively popped into his mind:
God Wars!
-
Backlund, battlefield outside the city.
Alfred was engaged in a fierce battle with a demigod dressed in General Fursac's uniform, wearing a silver mask and gloves. The opponent's impenetrable defense, broadsword formed from the dawn, ability to conceal himself by light, and rapier capable of "teleportation" all put immense pressure on him.
Backlund's demigods were far too few, forcing them to face multiple demigods simultaneously. They even had to rely on those extraordinary beings with only Sequence 5 rank, equipped with '1' level sealed artifacts, to barely contend with the demigods.
Even demigods like Alfred are forced to confront enemies of a higher order.
In fact, if he hadn't accumulated enough experience in the previous months of war to know how to defend against the 'Silver Knight's' attacks, and if his extraordinary abilities as the 'Law Mage' hadn't limited the opponent's extraordinary abilities such as 'Concealment by Light' and 'Silver Rapier', he would probably be a corpse by now!
Even so, he is still being dominated by his opponent.
After all, the combat prowess of a Warrior Path Extraordinary individual ranks among the top three of the twenty-two paths regardless of the sequence. Even without their most powerful Extraordinary ability, they would still be difficult for Alfred, who was preoccupied with establishing 'laws,' to handle.
At this moment, from the Allied positions, countless crimson flaming spears were launched, covering the sky and densely packed together.
The Silver Knight didn't dodge; instead, he stepped forward, swung the Dawn Greatsword, and dragged Alfred to the spot.
Whoosh whoosh!
A barrage of fiery spears rained down, almost completely engulfing the two demigods.
Alfred's pupils constricted sharply. The 'Silver Knight' could remain unaffected by his powerful defenses, but Alfred was almost certain to be pierced by those spears. Though not fatal, it would be enough for the Silver Knight to seize the opportunity, break through his legal restrictions, and launch a thunderous attack!
If this continues, he'll die sooner or later!
Alfred hurriedly dodged the Silver Knight's attack, while simultaneously pointing diagonally upwards and quickly saying:
"exile!"
A powerful and invisible force surged from his body, instantly scattering the fiery spears that filled the sky. Some were directly destroyed, and the rest were blown off course, greatly reducing their power.
Before Alfred could even catch his breath, the silver knight pounced on him again.
However, at that moment, the thick fog that had enveloped the entire battlefield vanished as if it had never existed.
Alfred and the Silver Knight, who had just been fighting to the death, stopped fighting at the same time, feeling extremely weak, even struggling to lift their arms. They looked up at the same time and saw a burst of orange-red light rapidly approaching from the edge of the boundless plain behind the allied forces' positions, instantly filling most of the sky and blocking out the sun.
The area around Backlund suddenly turned to dusk!
A deep darkness then appeared on the other side of the sky, quickly colliding with the orange-red twilight.
All the soldiers and officers on the battlefield fell to the ground instantly and fell into a deep sleep.
-
In the astral realm, in a virtual kingdom composed of books that are either open or closed, different figures move among them, finding pleasure in reading.
But the next second, miniature, scorching suns suddenly descended!
These countless tiny suns intertwined, forming an impenetrable barrier that completely sealed off the kingdom made of books.
The blinding light made it impossible to open one's eyes, and the energy it emitted was scorching the world, setting those books ablaze and burning them to ashes in the blink of an eye.
In that wondrous realm composed of various books, tiny glimmers of brass light swiftly moved across the barrier constructed by the sun, outlining one mysterious symbol after another. The dense array of symbols formed a defensive line, obscuring the sun's light and rapidly analyzing the sun's structural weaknesses.
Available in the next second.
Beyond the illusory realm, beyond the blockade formed by these miniature suns, a colossal, dazzling golden sun quietly arrived. That sun was so immense, large enough to engulf the entire Book Kingdom, its scorching light enough to illuminate the entire world and even the entire galaxy!
At the same time, in that kingdom of books, a tower made of countless books stood on the earth.
The tower soared into the clouds, and continued to rise, its tip piercing the sky and breaking through the sun's blockade, facing the golden sun directly!
At the very tip of the tower, the books opened their brass-colored eyes, countless pupils gazing simultaneously at the sun. At the same time, countless mysterious symbols suddenly appeared on the surface of the golden sun, writhing wildly like worms beneath its skin, attempting to form eye after eye.
But as soon as these symbols appeared, they were immediately burned to ashes by the sun's scorching rays, leaving not even a trace.
The golden sun relentlessly shone, as if it would swallow the entire country whole.
But the tower was not to be outdone, its continuous expansion causing the entire kingdom to expand rapidly, to the point that even the smaller suns could not completely contain it. Both sides unleashed their full power without reservation, engaging in a do-or-die battle!
Whether for self-preservation or for a higher level, they had no other choice.
But at that moment, faint lights began to appear from the void. They were not bright, not clear, and had no color. They seemed to be composed of a vast amount of illusory things.
These lights were so inconspicuous that they were completely obscured by the sun's rays, and the tower failed to notice them.
By the time the tower was discovered, the faint light emanating from the void had already enveloped the very tip of the tower!
Almost in the blink of an eye, the countless books on the outer layer instantly disintegrated, reduced to their most basic particles by the hazy light.
Although more books soon appeared, filling the gaps left by the disintegration of the original books, their surfaces quickly revealed corresponding mysterious symbols to counteract the disintegration.
But that golden sun once again unleashed its scorching light!
The outer book was destroyed again, this time melted away by the scorching light, leaving not even ashes.
Under the hazy light and the sun's embrace, the tower's tip was rapidly melted away by the sun and disintegrated by the light, even though books continued to pour in from below, trying to fill the gaps and rebuild the tower's tip.
However, the rate at which they are generated is far slower than the rate at which they are destroyed.
In the end, the spire of the tower was completely destroyed, and its tentacles that stretched beyond the world were completely severed!
The sun has already arrived before that illusory land.
The faint light joined the defense line built by countless small suns, and the brass eyes covering the sun were quickly disintegrated, along with the countless books on the earth.
If this continues, the whole world will perish in no time.
