Chapter 286 If not now, when?

Bathed in sunlight, the "Golden Dream" radiates a golden glow, resembling a moving treasure.

Inside the captain's cabin, Edwina stood by the window, gazing at the distant blue sea.

Last week, when they received the message from Gehrman Sparrow, the Golden Dream was salvaging a Quaternary shipwreck in a nearby area. Upon receiving the message, Edwina immediately ordered the crew to set sail for Bayam.

After several days of sailing, the "Golden Dream" has now entered the waters off Rothschild.

If all goes well, we should be able to reach Bayam within three hours.

of course.

Given that Bayam is the capital of the Roseside Islands, and both the Church of Storms and the military have a demigod stationed there, it's highly unlikely that "Admiral Iceberg," one of the pirate generals, would go directly to Bayam; that would be tantamount to walking into a trap.

Their agreed meeting point was in the waters near Simim Island.

The "Golden Dream" will not dock; instead, Gehrman Sparrow will find a private boat to search for them in the nearby waters.

Suddenly, a commotion broke out on the deck.

Edwina's light blue eyes flickered slightly as she cautiously pushed open the captain's cabin door and headed towards the deck.

Meanwhile, the pirate crew on deck were surrounding the outsiders.

Danitz, who was also part of the crowd, asked with a suspicious look:

"How did you get up here?"

Klein, now identified as Gehrman Sparrow, said in a cold tone:

"Teleport."

Hearing the cold tone of "German Sparrow," Danitz felt a chill run down his spine.

But he quickly realized that he had plenty of people backing him up, and he immediately became tough again, wanting to say a few harsh words on the spot.

"Disperse, everyone."

The sound of boots stomping on the wooden planks accompanied the woman's cool voice as it reached everyone's ears.

"But Captain..."

Edwina said calmly:

"Go back to your posts."

Danitz immediately dejectedly stepped aside, and the others silently made way for him.

But they didn't leave; instead, they remained gathered on the deck.

Klein nodded slightly and smiled politely:

Good morning, Madam Captain.

"Good morning, Mr. Gehrman," Edwina replied with a smile.

She turned around and led Klein into the cabin, along the dimly lit corridor, through wooden doors, to the brighter second floor, and to the half-open collection room.

Klein glanced inside casually; the huge black iron key was just lying casually on a wooden table.

Klein was about to reach for it when Edwina suddenly stopped him, saying in a cold tone:

"You said in your letter that Ash needed this key."

Klein withdrew his hand and said frankly:

"Of course, he's right here."

"Um?"

A hint of confusion flashed in Edwina's eyes, but the next moment she saw a figure suddenly appear in front of the table, it was Ash!

Edwina's memory flickered for a moment; in the past minute, she seemed to have seen Ember's figure several times—

He appeared on the deck with Klein, were surrounded by sailors, and went to the collection room together.

But she didn't find anything along the way.

Edwina immediately realized what was happening and asked:

"Psychology invisibly?"

"right."

Yu Jin readily admitted it.

Although it's only a Sequence 6 extraordinary ability, psychological invisibility is actually very useful.

For example, when Klein was exploring the island's church, Adam was secretly watching his performance from the sidelines, using his Psychology skill.

If they are extraordinary individuals in the same sequence as the audience, and they are sitting face to face with each other using psychological invisibility, they might even ignore each other and neither of them would notice the other.

When Edwina discovered that Ember had been using Psychology to become invisible the entire time, she immediately realized that this might be a trap.

Someone is eyeing this key; the journey itself may be a trap.

Edwina suddenly asked curiously:

"What is this key related to?"

Ember briefly stated:

"It is the key to open the gates of the Giants' Court."

"The Court of Giants?"

"The 'Giant's Court' from mythology?" Edwina asked, her eyes sparkling.

Yu Jin nodded slightly in affirmation.

Edwina's eyes suddenly brightened, and she pressed on with the question:

"Is the 'Kingdom of Giants' in the Forsaken Land?"

Ember hummed in agreement.

"I need to go to the Giants' Court, and I need this key."

What kind of compensation do you need?

Edwina understood he was referring to the price of the key, and without hesitation, calmly replied:

"5000 pounds."

With a flick of his wrist, Yu Jin pulled out a wad of banknotes from somewhere.

No more, no less, exactly 5000 pounds.

Klein suddenly asked:

"If you're going to the land forsaken by God, do you need a guide?"

He was referring to the little "sun," and Silver City happened to be exploring the Forsaken Lands as well.

If Ember is going to the Forsaken Lands, summoning it through a small 'Sun' is the best option.

Silver City was familiar with the surrounding environment and knew how to get to the Giants' Court.

With them leading the way, things will undoubtedly be much easier.

At the same time, the embers might also help Silver City solve some problems that have been troubling them for a long time.

For example, taking them away from the land forsaken by God.

"Guide?"

Ember glanced thoughtfully at Klein, then suddenly pulled out a book bound together from parchment.

"This is……"

Klein glanced at the book instinctively; on its dark brown cover was a line of Old Fussac script:

Grosseus Travelogue.

"This comes from a shipwreck at the bottom of the sea. It has been submerged for 165 years and is still undamaged."

Edwina explained, "It contains a story about a giant named Grosser who decided to go to the Frost Kingdom to hunt down the 'King of the North,' a powerful frost dragon."

"On his journey, he encountered one companion after another: female elves, devout ascetics, nobles of the Solomon Empire, and soldiers of the Rune Kingdom. The story just progressed to their direct encounter with the 'King of the North' when it suddenly stopped. It's not that it didn't happen, but the following pages were difficult to access using various methods."

Ash told me that this book contains a world, but I don't know how to enter it.

Klein immediately deciphered another layer of meaning in those words:

This travelogue originally belonged to Lieutenant General Iceberg, and Ember bought it from her.

The idea that this travelogue contains a world reminded Klein of the world of painting.

The world of painting is a world hidden within a painting, but this is a world hidden within a travelogue.

Why did Yu Jin take out this book?

"Grossell?"

The answer immediately flashed into Klein's mind—

The giant named Grosser likely came from the former court of giants.

If the Embers need a guide, a giant is undoubtedly the best choice.

Klein asked:

"Have you been inside?"

"no."

Edwina also asked curiously:

"Have you figured out a way to get inside?"

When they sold this travelogue to Ember, they made a promise that Ember would tell her its secrets—

This includes the unique aspects of this travelogue and how to access it.

If given the chance, Edwina would even like to go inside and experience it for herself.

She wanted to understand how the world in this travelogue differed from the world depicted in paintings.

Ember frankly stated:

"No, not at all."

"To enter the world of this travelogue, one must follow the rules he has set beforehand."

"I haven't figured out these rules yet, so theoretically I can't get in."

"but……"

As Yu Jin spoke, flames suddenly rose from his palm, engulfing the book "The Travels of Grosser" in the blink of an eye.

In the blink of an eye, the raging fire completely burned it, melting it into a ball of flame.

"..."

Klein's expression was somewhat subtle. "You burn everything you see? Aren't you afraid of burning it all? Trying to burn everything will only hurt you!"

After a short while, the fire gradually subsided.

And the 'melted' travelogue of Grosser gradually returned to its original shape.

Once the flames had completely dissipated, the travelogue lay quietly in the embers' palm, looking exactly the same as before.

But Klein knew that the "underlying rules" of this travelogue had changed.

Klein asked carefully:

"How do we get in now?"

He also wanted to go inside and take a look.

Embers succinctly stated:

"Turn to the last page and become part of the story. Who wants to try?"

"I'll go first."

Edwina took the Grosse travelogue and, without hesitation, turned to the last page with written notes—

This page recounts the story of Grosser and his companions' encounter with the "King of the North".

The pages that followed were previously impossible to turn.

But this time, Edwina easily flipped it open.

But unexpectedly, that page was completely blank.

A holy light emanated from the blank pages of the book, instantly enveloping Edwina.

Her figure first became illusory for no reason, and then disappeared.

Ember looked at Klein and asked:

"And you?"

"Since we're already here..."

Klein shrugged, making a gesture that was completely out of character for 'German Sparrow'.

He then turned the page to the next blank page, and his figure gradually became illusory and disappeared.

Yu Jin stood in front of the table, silent for a moment.

He put away the black iron key and then slowly turned the pages of the book.

Under the glow, his figure gradually faded away.

The storage room was empty; if someone were to come and steal this notebook, it would be no problem at all.

Without a sound, a figure suddenly appeared in the collection room.

He was a priest, dressed in a simple white robe, wearing a silver cross pendant, and sporting a thick, light gold beard.

His expression was gentle, and his clear, innocent eyes, like those of a baby, were calmly gazing at the travelogue.

He shouldn't have been here, because it was dangerous and tantamount to walking into a trap.

But He has no other choice now.

Doing nothing may prevent you from making mistakes, but it's ultimately just a slow death.

Even if he makes a mistake, it only makes an already bad situation worse.

But how much worse can it get?

The priest stretched out his hand, and an invisible force enveloped the Book of Grosser's Travels.

But the scene before the priest suddenly changed the next moment.

It was a vast, white world of ice and snow.

The priest's expression changed slightly; he clearly hadn't opened that book!

The fierce wind, carrying ice shards and goose-feather snowflakes, slapped Klein's face and body repeatedly, causing him to involuntarily tense up and tremble slightly as he surveyed his surroundings.

"It's so...cold..." He almost swore, realizing he was in a snowy landscape with extremely low visibility.

He originally thought that the damp and cold winter in Backlund was the worst thing, but now he finally understood that the absolute low temperature and the knife-like wind were the deadly combination, which even he, who was already at Sequence 5, could not withstand.

Klein looked around but couldn't find Edwina or Ember, nor any traces like footprints.

They entered this world one after the other, but their destinations seemed to be completely different.

So, where should he go now?

After thinking for a while, Klein decided to consult the oracle.

Of course, divination cannot be done at will; it requires a medium.

For example, if he wanted to divine Edwina's location, he would need to use something related to Edwina as a medium. This could include Edwina's clothes, weapons, or even cosmetics. These items are imbued with Edwina's aura, and therefore can be used for divination.

But the best method is to use her blood or hair, as these belong to Edwina herself, and the divination will be more accurate.

But Klein didn't have any of these, so he couldn't predict Edwina's location.

However, he can choose to divine the location of the embers.

Thinking this, Klein took out an ember—

The embers, now reduced to ashes, had no such luxuries as blood or hair; the embers were simply part of his body.

"The location of the embers."

Klein spoke in a low voice, placing the embers on the tip of his cane, preparing to use the 'Divination Staff Technique'.

The "stick divination method" is one of the most common divination methods, similar to pendulum divination and dream divination.

However, the original and most practical use of the "divination stick method" was to find lost items, and only "diviners" could use it to find people.

The results came out quickly. Without hesitation, Klein trudged through the thick snow and swiftly traversed the raging winds under the gloomy sky, occasionally divining again to adjust his direction, since the embers wouldn't be waiting for him in the same spot.

After struggling through the heavy snow for nearly an hour, Klein pressed down on his hat, picked up his cane, and, following the guidance of divination, found his way to a mountain peak.

After rounding a huge rock covered with a thick layer of ice, they came to a dark cave with a woman holding an old-fashioned bow and arrow standing guard at the entrance.

The woman had soft, shiny black hair, which she tied into a simple ponytail. Her facial features were very gentle, unlike those of people from any other country in the Northern Continent.

She was wearing a brown, vintage-style hunter's coat and trousers, and her keen eyes caught sight of her.

Upon seeing her slightly pointed ears, and recalling the contents of "The Travels of Grossell," Klein immediately knew her identity:

The first female elf to meet the giant Grosser, whose name is unknown.

And by finding this elf, they found Grosser.

In other words, he found the right place!
