Hogwarts: I'm Harry's older cousin

Chapter 48. Potter, Something's Wrong with You

Chapter 48. Potter, Something's Wrong with You (Fourth Update)

Since Slytherin and Gryffindor had classes together all day Friday, Hermione put in a lot of effort for the day, hoping to earn more points than Dudley in the two Potions classes. She practically wore out her first-year Potions textbook.

The Potions class was also held in a basement, which was cooler and colder than the main castle building above.

To be honest, Dudley didn't think that brewing potions in this place would be any better than in other places.

Personally, he prefers to stay in places with normal temperatures.

This allows for better control of temperature and cooking time.

Perhaps it was Professor Snape's personal preference.

Along the walls of the potions room were many glass jars containing numerous animal specimens, including many contraband items strictly prohibited by the wizarding world, which made Dudley very envious.

As expected of a potions master, even the items displayed in the open are extremely rare and difficult to obtain.

It is said that Snape had a small room where he stored potion ingredients. If Dudley were to rob that place, he probably wouldn't lack ingredients for many years.

But there's a 80% chance Professor Snape will hunt him down to the ends of the earth.

"D-bro," Harry whispered as he walked up to Dudley before class.

Harry had told Dudley the day before that Hagrid had invited him and Dudley to his cottage that afternoon.

Hagrid, well, he's not a bad person at heart. If Dudley hadn't been rude to Vernon first, he wouldn't have clashed with him. After receiving Dudley's forgiveness, he also received Harry's forgiveness, since Hagrid was a good friend of Harry's parents and knew a lot about their past.

But if Dudley doesn't forgive Hagrid, then Harry won't forgive Hagrid either.

Even if he has forgiven Hagrid now, their relationship is not actually very close. Everything is dictated by Dudley, and if Dudley refuses, then he will refuse as well.

Dudley readily agreed. Hagrid's cabin was on the edge of the Forbidden Forest, not far from where Dudley had always longed to be.

Or rather, it's a place loved by everyone who loves herbs and potions.

Dangerous, but rich in resources.

However, after spending some time with Hagrid, Dudley's assessment of him was "terrifyingly simple." In Dudley's opinion, this was neither a compliment nor a criticism.

The reason for this assessment is that Hagrid reminded him of someone—a simple-minded black whirlwind.

Of course, Hagrid was stronger than him; at least he wasn't as bloodthirsty or ravenous.

Otherwise, Hagrid, who was in the same cohort as Voldemort, could have easily earned the title of "Little Dark Lord," or rather, "Physical Demon Lord."

This is the first existence that Dudley has ever been wary of.

With one minute left before class started, Professor Snape walked in through the door.

With his cold, empty eyes, large, sullen nose, greasy hair, and all-black attire, Snape looked every bit the villain from a fairy tale, and few young wizards would have a good first impression of him.

Snape walked to the podium, picked up the roster, and began calling out names.

Snape paused when Harry's name was called.

"Oh, look who this is? Harry Potter. The very famous person."

His sarcastic way of speaking caused many young wizards to cover their mouths and chuckle, including Malfoy and his henchmen. However, after Dudley glanced around casually, the entire Slytherin house fell silent, except for a few oblivious Gryffindors who were still snickering.

"You've come here to learn how to brew this potion."

Snape's words immediately brought order to the classroom, and his intimidating presence was in no way inferior to Dudley's.

"There are no fools waving wands here, so many of you won't believe this is magic. I don't expect you to truly appreciate the beauty of that cauldron simmering slowly, steaming and emitting a wonderful aroma. I can teach you how to increase your reputation, brew glory, and even stop death. But there's one condition: you can't be the kind of idiots I often encounter."

Potions can do many things that spells cannot, things that others may not understand, but Dudley understands very well.

He had already experienced the wonders of the potion.

Even if he can no longer cast spells, his achievements using potions alone may not be inferior to those of other wizards.

However, Dudley noticed that Snape would glance at Harry intentionally or unintentionally while saying these things.

Is it because you were thinking of my poor little aunt?

"Potter!" Snape suddenly raised his voice. "What would I get if I added narcissus root powder to wormwood infusion?"

"I don't know, sir," Harry answered very honestly.

He didn't even know what daffodil root powder and mugwort were.

Snape's gaze shifted from Harry's green eyes to his face, and he curled his lip in utter contempt.

"Tsk, tsk, it seems fame doesn't mean everything."

Another sarcastic remark, another burst of laughter, but this time not a single Slytherin participated; it was all Gryffindors laughing.

"Let's try again, Potter. If I asked you to find me a bezoar, where would you go?"

As he spoke, Snape's gaze fell on Harry's eyes again, staring intently at those green eyes.

Deep within those eyes, perhaps, lies a glimmer of hope.

Unfortunately, Harry's answer disappointed him once again.

"I don't know, sir."

Harry shook his head; he really didn't know.

"I suppose you didn't even open a single book before school started, did you, Potter?"

Snape's expression grew even more contemptuous, but deep in his eyes lay profound disappointment.

That person is gone and will never come back. It's a pity that her child did not inherit her good qualities.

"Porter, one last question. Tell me, what's the difference between *Aconitum carmichaelii* and *Aconitum davidii*?"

Aconite?

Upon hearing this word, Harry instantly perked up; he really knew it, Dudley had specifically told him about it.

"They can all be used to make poison, sir."

Harry's words immediately startled Snape.

"Bottle-shaped aconite and wolfsbane aconite are both plants of the genus Aconitum. They are both aconite, a slender, upright, and poisonous perennial herb, especially the root tuber, which is highly toxic. The outer skin is black, and the flowers are bright and beautiful. Its sap can be applied to arrows to make poisoned arrows to kill people or animals. It is sometimes used as poison for condemned prisoners. Its flower language is 'malice.' Once accidentally poisoned, the heartbeat will first slow down, followed by numbness throughout the body, then the heartbeat will gradually accelerate, leading to confusion, coma, and finally death."

Harry rattled off like a machine gun, his eyes brimming with excitement, finally answering one of the questions he knew the answer to.

However, this excitement had a different meaning in the eyes of the Slytherins in the classroom.

When it comes to other issues, you are hesitant and ignorant, but when it comes to poison, you become eloquent and talk about death with great excitement.

Potter, something's wrong with you.
