Hogwarts: I'm Harry's older cousin
Chapter 464, Chapter 459: Bain the Centaur, I'm here to negotiate.
Chapter 464, Chapter 459: Baine the Centaur, I'm Here to Negotiate.
Although the centaurs were arrogant, they were still quite sane. They immediately connected the dots to the unusual behavior of the giant spiders. The giant spiders' territory and the centaur tribes almost spanned the entire Forbidden Forest. They would only come to attack the centaurs if they were bored and had nothing better to do than be instructed by someone.
Only the legendary King of the Forbidden Forest can command the entire octagonal giant spider clan.
Otherwise, even their natural enemy, the serpent monster, couldn't do it.
"Yes, they are my messengers."
Dudley nodded and readily admitted that he found the magical creatures too slow, so he rode the fire dragon ahead of them.
His words immediately put the centaurs on edge. The eight-eyed giant spiders were no benevolent creatures; they would hunt any living thing they saw and were simply a group of terrifying carnivorous predators.
"Could you tell us why you've come?"
Before Bain could speak, Ferenze spoke first. Although he did not agree with his people's beliefs, he cared about them.
"Let me ask you a question: Do you know the Dark Lord?"
Instead of answering the question directly, Dali asked a question in return.
"I've heard of him. He was the most terrifying villain in the wizarding world. I heard he's dead."
Even if the centaurs were aloof from worldly affairs, they had still heard of Voldemort's name.
"Yes, he died once, but he's back to life now."
"And in the very near future, he will lead his men to attack Hogwarts."
"So," Ferenc said.
"I need the centaurs' help; I need you as an outpost in the Forbidden Forest."
"King of the Forbidden Forest," Bain interjected, glaring at Ferenzer before continuing, "We centaurs don't concern ourselves with the affairs of wizards, nor do we interfere in their business."
"Don't you know how the Dark Lord treats non-humans?"
Dudley glanced at Bane, and seeing that the other still had an indifferent expression, he continued, "If he were to take control of the wizarding world, it could be a disaster for the centaurs."
If Voldemort were to seize power, aside from the non-human races who might receive a tiny bit of preferential treatment if they sided with him, stubborn races like centaurs would most likely end up like the vampires, or even worse.
The centaurs are far weaker than vampires, both individually and as a group. A few giants alone could wipe them out. They can only run away, and they don't have teleportation magic. Their mobility is far inferior to that of dark wizards.
"I'm sorry, but we only follow the guidance of the stars; it's an ancient tradition of the centaurs."
"I'm sorry, King of the Forbidden Forest, centaurs will not interfere in matters between wizards."
Regardless of what Dudley says, Bain's attitude is very clear.
"There are no stars left now," Dudley said calmly. "That excuse won't fool me."
The centaurs all looked up at the sky, only to find that it was now pitch black. They could no longer see the stars, let alone follow their guidance. There wasn't a single star in the entire sky. The reason they could still see things ahead was because a luminous object had replaced the stars and the moon, illuminating the earth.
"What is that?" Ferenze asked, puzzled.
Dudley answered him in the simplest terms: "The lighting equipment I make."
"They can't see me, they can't sense the existence of the stars; they've abandoned us."
A reddish-brown centaur, Ronan the centaur, spoke with a sorrowful expression. He was an acquaintance of Dudley's.
Without the stars, these centaurs were like fish without water, birds without the sky. Many centaurs had a bewildered look on their faces. Without the guidance of the stars, they didn't even know what to do tomorrow or whether they should eat.
Even Baine, the leader of the centaur race, was completely panicked because he couldn't sense the stars.
"Where did the stars go? It was you who hid them!"
Bain glared angrily at Dudley.
His arrival was so coincidental that it was hard not to connect him with the unusual occurrences of the stars.
"Bane, what are you going to do?"
The only one unaffected was Ferencze, who tried to stop Bain, but unfortunately, he had been seriously injured by the kick and his physical strength had dropped significantly.
"Give us back the stars!"
Even in the Forbidden Forest, few magical creatures would dare to face an enraged centaur. The centaurs are incredibly powerful, not much weaker than the larger magical creatures, especially Baine, who is the strongest of the centaurs.
However, Dudley simply extended a finger and beckoned to him.
"If you can beat me, I'll consider this offer."
"I'll admit defeat if you let me use my second hand."
Such provocation was intolerable to any normal person. Bain let out a neigh and charged at Dudley.
He was met only by a thick, powerful arm. Ferenc closed his eyes in pain, seemingly unable to bear to look.
What happens next is quite obvious.
The charging Bane, like a high-speed heavy tank, crashed violently into the Wailing Wall at the edge of the underworld, a place even the gods would hesitate to tread.
Dudley easily caught the opponent's charge with just one hand.
With a forceful downward press, Bain groaned in pain, and with a crisp "crack," the centaur leader Bain collapsed to the ground with a thud.
Bain, the strongest warrior in the tribe and also the tribe leader, couldn't even last three seconds before being easily subdued.
"Bane!" the centaurs exclaimed in surprise.
This scene stunned the centaurs and Ferenze, and the terror of the King of the Forbidden Forest was fully revealed at this moment.
"You collapsed before I even exerted any effort."
Dudley looked at Bane lying on the ground, his hooves twisted unnaturally, and said calmly.
If it were magic, I might be more cautious, but if they try to use physics, then I'll have to talk to them about the "reasoning".
Bain struggled to get up from the ground, but failed. His bloodshot eyes were fixed on Dudley, and white mist kept coming out of his nostrils.
Just then, accompanied by the distinctive rustling sound of their limbs scurrying across the ground, countless hairy black spiders, each the size of a millstone, emerged from every corner of the forest, their eight enormous eyes greedily staring at the group.
Being stared at by a group of hungry, giant spiders is a terrifying experience that no one would want to go through a second time, and Ron knows this all too well.
The centaurs' side immediately caused a commotion, but before they could make any move, the commotion on the eight-eyed giant spiders' side was even faster. The giant spiders seemed to sense something terrifying, their bodies trembling incessantly, emitting sharp hisses, and they all burrowed into the forest.
Something even more terrifying seemed to be lurking in the darkness.
