Hogwarts: I'm Harry's older cousin
Chapter 38 Are you really a wizard?
Chapter 38. Are you really a wizard? (Second update)
"Hermione, do you know how they accurately sorted us into which house?"
After Professor McGonagall finished giving her instructions and left, Harry couldn't wait to ask.
He felt that he neither had Dudley's talent for self-studying potions, nor Hermione's ability to learn several spells on her own, nor Ron and Neville's, who had grown up in the wizarding world and knew nothing of spells except for reading a few books.
Unfortunately, Hermione, the all-knowing know-it-all, disappointed him. Hermione shook her head and said somewhat unwillingly, "I don't know. I've checked many books, and every book only briefly mentions that Hogwarts needs to hold a Sorting Ceremony, but there are no detailed records of what the ceremony is like. They just gloss over it."
Harry then looked at Neville and Ron.
"My uncle wouldn't tell me."
Neville looked even more nervous than Harry, his face contorted with despair: "I don't think I'll make it. A few years ago, everyone thought I might be a Squib."
"It's supposed to be a test. Fred said it hurt us a lot, but I think he's joking." Ron tried to keep his tone calm, but he was just as nervous as Neville.
"Don't worry, Harry."
Dudley patted his cousin on the shoulder, indicating that he shouldn't worry: "If we don't pass, we'll go to Smetine High School."
Upon hearing this, Harry's eyes lit up, and his tense mood eased.
As long as I can study with Dali, isn't it the same wherever I go?
As they were speaking, a group of pale, semi-transparent figures emerged from the wall, startling the young wizards standing in front of them who screamed repeatedly.
These are a group of ghosts.
Dudley was eager to study the composition and principles of ghosts, but it was clearly not the right time now.
Because Professor McGonagall is back.
"Now, line up in a single file and follow me."
Dudley was somewhat taken aback by the opulence of Hogwarts Dining Room, especially the thousands of candles floating in mid-air and the ceiling that allowed him to see the sky.
The candles are enchanted and will not run out of energy; otherwise, the consumption of so many candles would be a considerable expense.
Dudley couldn't help but exclaim, "Magic is so convenient!"
In the center of the hall, there was a four-legged stool with a topped wizard's hat on it. It was a dark, greasy, patched wizard's hat.
Sorting cap.
A wide slit appeared on the brim of the hat, resembling a mouth, and it began to sing.
"You may belong to Gryffindor, where courage is buried deep in the heart. Their boldness, spirit and generosity make Gryffindor stand out from the crowd."
You may belong to Hufflepuff, where people are honest and loyal, and Hufflepuff students are persevering, honest, and unafraid of hard work.
If you are clever, you might go to the wise old Ravenclaw, where you will always meet your kindred spirits;
Perhaps you will enter Slytherin, perhaps you will make true friends here, but those cunning and treacherous people will stop at nothing to achieve their goals.
The first three are basically showered with praise, especially Gryffindor, which received several more compliments than the other three houses combined. When it comes to Slytherin, apart from the first sentence which can barely be considered praise, the next sentence is blatant sarcasm.
The target is very obvious.
Dudley had no interest in why the Sorting Hat targeted Slytherin; perhaps it was just Slytherin's own twisted sense of humor.
He was more curious about which college he would be assigned to.
And whether the other party can read the secrets in one's heart.
Given Dudley's magical talent, he will most likely be assigned to Hufflepuff, as it is generally considered a place of mediocrity in the wizarding world. However, given Dudley's academic prowess, there is also a chance he will be assigned to Ravenclaw.
"bite"
At that moment, a pleasant system notification sounded in Dali's ears.
"Joining any house at Hogwarts will grant you rewards depending on the specific house you choose."
It seems that the rewards are different for each college.
At the same time, Professor McGonagall took out the parchment scroll and read out the first name.
Hannah Abbott
She was a girl with golden twin ponytails.
A dozen seconds later, with the Sorting Hat's cry of "Hufflepuff!", the title of Iron Hat King was sealed.
Then Professor McGonagall read out the names of Susan Burns, Justin Finley, and others. Dudley knew from the first few names that the list was definitely not in alphabetical order.
After all, apart from the Iron-Capped King who starts with A, the rest start with H, then A, then P, and then back to H. It's impossible to make sense that they are in alphabetical order.
Ron and Neville were successfully sorted into Gryffindor, and Malfoy was unsurprisingly sorted into Slytherin.
"Where do you want to go, Hermione?" Dudley asked Hermione, who was standing next to him.
"Gryffindor or Ravenclaw," Hermione said, looking conflicted. "I've been considering these two houses for a long time. Ravenclaw has its own independent library, and the learning environment is excellent. But Headmaster Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall are both graduates of Gryffindor, and many famous wizards graduated from Gryffindor."
"And what about you, Dudley?"
"Any college is fine."
Dudley's attitude was much more indifferent; he was almost certain he would be assigned to Hufflepuff.
He even started thinking about when he should sneak out for a late-night snack, since Hufflepuff's lounge was closest to the kitchen.
When Hermione's name was called, she rushed over, and the Sorting Hat called out Gryffindor almost without hesitation.
Although Hermione has the academic prowess, she was born a Gryffindor.
Being smart and academically successful are not associated with Ravenclaw.
Soon, only Harry and Dudley remained who hadn't been sorted into their houses.
The second to last one is Harry.
"Don't be nervous, Harry. No matter which house we're assigned to, we'll always be brothers."
Before leaving, Dudley whispered to Harry.
Not long after, the Sorting Hat's resounding voice rang out: "Gryffindor!"
"We have Potter!"
The loudest cheers and applause echoed throughout the dining hall, and everyone in Gryffindor danced with joy. In contrast, the other three houses looked visibly downcast after hearing the announcement, and Dudley even saw Malfoy muttering something resentfully over to Slytherin.
So much so that when Dudley went up on stage, no one noticed him except Hermione and Harry.
Everyone's attention was on Harry.
That's a savior, you know.
The Sorting Hat was gently placed on Dudley's head.
Dali felt a slightly surprised voice above his head.
"Oh~~~~"
The drawn-out syllables seemed to take forever to finish.
"Are you really a wizard?"
I'd still like to be on the list if I could.
