Hogwarts: I'm Harry's older cousin
Chapter 356: 350 Experiments and Speculations on Horcruxes
Chapter 356, Section 350: Various Experiments and Speculations on Horcruxes
The failed attempt to seduce Dudley held the pendant box in his hand.
As a Horcrux, like the diary and pendant, it has no ability to move. If it is not successfully bewitched, it can only stay in place.
Even if its creator was a very terrifying wizard.
Of course, if the main soul is resurrected on the pendant, that's a different story.
Dudley wasn't in a hurry to destroy the Horcrux; he planned to use it for experiments during the few days before school started.
As is well known, Horcruxes, being extremely evil magical items, become exceptionally sturdy even if they are made of ordinary materials.
For example, that diary could not be damaged by ordinary methods, whether by hitting it with a stone or heating it with fire.
The known methods to destroy Horcruxes are: Gryffindor's greatsword (in the original Nagini, the locket, and the ring), Basilisk's fangs (in the original diary and the golden cup), Acid (in the diary), Fiendfyre (in the original diadem), the transmutation circle (diadem), and Voldemort (in the original Harry Potter).
In other words, if a Horcrux can be destroyed, its power, whether magical or otherwise, would be immense.
"You can't take it away, Kreacher can't destroy it, and you can't!"
Just as Dudley was about to leave with the golden pendant box, Kreacher suddenly went mad. Judging from his dazed eyes, he was most likely bewitched.
The pendant box hadn't tempted it before, probably because it thought it was unnecessary and that it was safe to stay there. But now things are different; the other party recognizes the Horcrux.
Unfortunately, everyone present was highly skilled in magic, and Kreacher was hit by at least four binding spells as soon as he lunged at Dudley.
"What are you doing?"
Ron, the only one who hadn't made a move, was completely baffled; he still hadn't figured out what was going on.
"Where are my chicken legs? Such a big bowl of them!"
"Give it back to Kreacher, give it back to Kreacher."
Even with his body bound, Kreacher stared intently at Dudley with his bloodshot eyes.
How could Dali not know that this was all the work of the locket box?
"You still want to cause trouble at a time like this."
Dali held the pendant box in his hand.
"Kreacher, didn't you say I couldn't destroy it? Well, let's see."
Sparks crackled on Dudley's right hand, and the locket squeaked as if it had encountered its natural enemy. However, it could not escape. Then, Dudley exerted force from his palm, and the locket felt an indescribable, terrifying force coming from all directions. The enormous force squeezed the locket, causing it to creak and groan, and black smoke kept escaping from it.
When physics reaches a certain level, magic can also be created.
This is the magic of physics — BY Dursley.
"Crackling."
As Dali continued to apply pressure, an extremely tiny crack appeared on the pendant box.
At that moment, Kreacher felt a light appear before his eyes, and his lifeless eyes gradually regained their sparkle.
"Destroy it now!"
Kreacher shouted urgently, his attitude a complete 180-degree turn from before.
"Don't rush."
As Dali loosened his grip, the crack on the pendant box stopped widening.
However, the pendant box seemed to have been greatly damaged at this time. The whole box seemed to have lost its luster and turned grayish, but it also returned to its original calm.
"I still have a use for this thing. I can destroy it after I'm done using it."
After saying that, Dali put the pendant into his pocket.
"This body is excellent! I must have it!"
The pendant in Dali's pocket was thinking with its limited mental capacity.
However, it soon realized it was wrong; perhaps being crushed on the spot was the best option.
In the overgrown garden outside the Blake mansion, the pendant was fixed to a shelf, while Dudley, with one eye open, was aiming at a 'metal frame'.
With a few 'bangs' and a sharp scraping sound of metal, Dali put down the 'metal frame' in his hand.
The term "metal frame" is used in the eyes of Ron, Neville, and Draco.
In Harry and Hermione's eyes, this thing is called a pistol.
It's also a very well-known handgun—the Desert Eagle.
"Hermione, how's the data recording going?"
Dudley asked Hermione, who was standing to the side writing and drawing in her notebook.
"The bullet barely managed to leave a scratch on the pendant, indicating that the Horcrux has limited effectiveness in pure physical defense. The Divine Edge Spell attached to the bullet had no effect whatsoever, demonstrating that the Horcrux is extremely resistant to dark magic."
"Then let's try this." Dali took a dark object out of his pocket, tossed it up and down a couple of times, and then threw it toward the pendant.
"Boom!"
The towering flames were accompanied by a slight tremor in the ground.
"The fact that grenades cannot cause any effective damage to Horcruxes indicates that Horcruxes have a strong resistance to shockwaves and heat radiation. Similarly, the freezing spell attached to grenades is also ineffective. Horcruxes have an unexpectedly strong resistance to magic."
These things were all tinkered with by Dudley during his holiday at Nurmengard Castle. The bullets and gun bodies were modified so that, theoretically, they could be used normally even at Hogwarts.
Unfortunately, the manufacturing process for this type of weapon is currently too complex to be mass-produced, and the capacity for mass production is also relatively limited.
"If we can figure out the principle behind the Soul Gear's defensive spells, then theoretically we could develop so-called magic immunity/magic resistance equipment."
After several days of experimentation, the pendant was no longer as shiny as before. The original golden edges of the box had long been worn away, and the entire box was covered with countless small holes and scratches. It had reached the point where even if you threw it in the trash, probably no one would bother to pick it up.
The only commendable thing is that, apart from the tiny crack that Dudley had previously created, the other damage is repairable.
Dudley carefully put the pendant away again. The next experiment would be nearing its final stage, and he was preparing to use the CL-20 that he had shown Grindelwald.
Looking at the data Hermione had recorded, Dudley, having finished his experiment for the day, took out a Den Den Mushi from his pocket and dialed a number.
"Professor Grindelwald, here are today's experimental data."
Horcruxes are quite interesting. Experiments have shown they can defend against most magic, even bomb damage, but they can't protect against the fangs and venom of basilisks. Theoretically, Horcruxes are made of inorganic materials and shouldn't be affected by biological toxins, yet the basilisk's venom can actually "kill" them. Furthermore, Horcruxes possess a certain degree of sentience.
This made Dudley wonder if Horcruxes, after receiving fragments of their creator's soul, were transformed into a different kind of "creature".
He now wishes he could capture a few more Horcruxes for deeper research.
He felt this would be very helpful in developing his magical costume.
