Hogwarts: I'm Harry's older cousin

Chapter 347, 341 But I Changed My Mind

Chapter 347, page 341. But I changed my mind.

It was still a dilapidated house in the suburbs of Newport, Wales, but after a holiday, the drafty window had finally been plugged up.

"How's the matter I assigned you to handle going?"

Voldemort, in his fairy form, sat on the sofa. Whether it was because he was too short or the sofa was too high, his feet were dangling in the air, and several black-robed wizards with their faces hidden in hoods were kneeling at his feet.

After a holiday trial at Wizengamot, many Death Eaters arrested at Riddle House were acquitted, though at great cost, such as losing their Wizengamot membership, losing their Ministry of Magic official positions, or giving up some of their property.

But at least they weren't imprisoned in Azkaban.

"Just a little more. We need a little more time, Master."

One of the black-robed wizards replied, forcing himself to speak.

"Really? It's really only a little bit short?"

Voldemort's icy voice rang out, as chilling as the biting wind of winter, penetrating to the very core.

"This is not quite what I heard."

"Master, I am guilty!"

Upon hearing this, the latter immediately began to wail, but soon he no longer had the strength to even wail.

He was greeted by a dark green light.

"Heart-wrenching"

"I hate being lied to; it makes me feel like a fool."

"Do you think you can deceive your great master?"

Voldemort looked at his victim with disgust and released his grip on the wand. However, the wand remained suspended in the air, continuing to cast the magic known as the "most cruel form of torture." The other black-robed wizards around him trembled with fear at the sight.

"I can tolerate that you can't get into the Auror Headquarters or become the head of the Auror Office. That old bastard Dumbledore, even if he doesn't interfere himself, wouldn't let you in. You lost control of Wizengamor to save your lives, and I can be magnanimous and let bygones be bygones."

"But now you can't even keep your position in the office that prohibits the misuse of magic."

Tell me, what else do you want to lose?

Besides the Minister of Magic, the largest authority in the Ministry of Magic is the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, which is divided into three main sections: the Office of the Prohibition of Magical Misuse, the Auror Command (Auror Office), and the Wizengamor Administration.

Among them, Wizengamo held a superior position. As the predecessor of the Ministry of Magic, its members were not limited to one country, and its influence was enormous. In theory, the Chief Wizard of Wizengamo was on par with the Minister for Magic of England.

Both the Office for Prohibiting the Abuse of Magic and the Auror Command (Auror Office) are powerful departments.

In theory, controlling these two agencies is more useful than all other departments combined (the Ministry of Magic also has a special department—the Department of Mysteries, which is the Ministry of Magic's top secret agency, but it is not the power agency).

To say that they couldn't even keep the Office of the Prohibition of the Abuse of Magic would be putting on a brave face. At present, the only department that the Death Eaters completely control is the Bureau of Flying Brooms under the Department of Magical Transportation in the Ministry of Magic.

The rest are just small fry, like August Lukewood, one of the Death Eaters. Although he works for the Department of Mysteries, he is just a regular temporary employee who got in through Lucius's connections. He is currently mainly responsible for cleaning the area around the Department of Mysteries.

The blame lies with Wizengamot for being too ruthless this time, coupled with the Death Eaters' cowardice; they're willing to do anything to survive.

There's nothing we can do. All the tough Death Eaters are locked up in Azkaban.

"It was all the work of the Gagson family!"

"Gagson? Never heard of that name."

Voldemort found no memories of this family.

Strictly speaking, this family isn't even pure-blooded; they only recently joined the wizarding privilege class, so it would be strange if Voldemort had any recollection of them.

"Master, the Gagson family is a subsidiary family of the Carlo family."

Avery, standing next to Voldemort, whispered a reminder.

Originally treated with the Crucifixion Curse upon his first appearance, he not only escaped the Ministry of Magic's punishment but also unexpectedly became Voldemort's favorite.

"Carlo?"

Voldemort searched his memory for the family: "The family of the Amycus siblings?"

"Yes, Master."

Avery explained to Voldemort, "The current head of the Carlow family, Richmond Carlow, is the nephew of the Amycus siblings."

"All the recent commotion was orchestrated by him, and he reportedly has quite a few followers now."

"Hmph," Voldemort said with a hint of contempt, "Once I release them from Azkaban, I'll let them sort out their own family affairs."

Upon hearing this, the Death Eaters lying on the ground involuntarily shivered.

If they agree to join the Death Eaters, everyone will be happy; if they don't, then we'll find another head of the family.

"Master, that traitor Karkaroff recently found me."

One of the Death Eaters, who was kneeling on the ground, suddenly spoke.

"What did he want from you?"

Voldemort waved his hand and recalled his wand. The Death Eater from before was now convulsing uncontrollably from the torment.

"Kakarov said..."

"What did he say?"

"Relax, Stacha, I won't punish you because of what others say."

He said you're a fake.

"You're a thief who stole power."

The Death Eater looked at Voldemort cautiously and said...

Boom!

The windows, which had only recently been repaired, shattered all at once, shards of glass scattered all over the ground, and a cold wind rushed in as if it were free.

"It seems that our former companion has not only abandoned his master, but has now even betrayed him."

Voldemort's small eyes were filled with murderous intent.

Then, changing the subject, he asked the Death Eater, "So, what about you? What's your opinion?"

"You are certainly our great master, that is absolutely true."

The Death Eater said in a trembling voice.

"Yeah?"

Voldemort walked up to the Death Eater. Despite being only the dwarf of a goblin, he made the other man tremble with fear.

"But I've discovered that you don't actually think that way."

"You're lying!"

He shouted, and the Death Eaters around him were even more terrified.

"You think so too! Don't try to fool me!"

Almost every powerful wizard is a master of Legilimency, such as Dumbledore, Snape, and Voldemort.

Voldemort then pointed his wand at the Death Eater.

"Master, you said you wouldn't punish me because of what others say."

Pleading echoed continuously in the room.

"Yes, I did say that."

Voldemort smiled cruelly: "But I've changed my mind."

Dark green light shone in the dilapidated room.

A lifeless corpse was left behind.
