Hogwarts: I'm Harry's older cousin
Chapter 30 It's great to see you!
Chapter 30. It's a pleasure to meet you!
Gringotts is much more spacious inside than it appears from the outside, clearly having been enchanted with a Stretch-through spell. This spell is undeniably quite convenient. The hall has countless doors leading to different places, and hundreds of goblins are examining gems, coins, and rare items in front of them at counters in the hall using scales, magnifying glasses, and other tools.
Led by Professor McGonagall, they arrived at one of the counters: "Please exchange some Galleons for these gentlemen."
The fairy who had been looking impatient at the counter immediately put on a fake smile when she saw that it was Professor McGonagall.
"Hello, Professor McGonagall. Are you a new student at Hogwarts?"
Seeing Professor McGonagall nod, the goblin turned to Vernon, her fake smile vanishing instantly, replaced by her original impatient expression: "How much?"
"What's the exchange rate?" Vernon asked somewhat nervously.
The fairy glanced at Vernon impatiently, but still answered his question: "Five pounds and one Galleon."
Vernon visibly relaxed upon hearing this, and with a grand gesture, he spoke with great confidence.
"Give me a thousand first."
"I'm sorry, sir." A hint of mockery flashed across the goblin's face. "A junior wizard at Hogwarts can only redeem once a year, and each time they can only redeem 100 Galleons."
"Okay, 200 Galleons it is," Vernon muttered under his breath.
He took the £1000 from Vernon and then handed over two bags of gold coins.
One bag is Harry's, and the other is Dudley's.
On the other side, Mr. Granger also exchanged one hundred Galleons for Hermione.
Just as the group finished exchanging the gold coins and were about to leave, Professor McGonagall suddenly said, "Wait, we need to go to Mr. Harry Potter's vault to get some money."
As she spoke, she took a gold key out of her pocket.
After a rollercoaster ride, the group arrived at the Potter family's vault.
"I never imagined they were so rich."
Even Vernon couldn't help but sigh as he left the Potter family's vast vault, which was piled high with gold.
He had always thought his wife's sister and brother-in-law were lazy and unemployed, but he never expected them to be rich kids.
If those piles of gold coins were converted into pounds, they would be a considerable sum.
However, the Dursleys were unmoved by this and were happy for Harry.
Please purchase the necessary items according to the new student guide.
The freshman guide that Professor McGonagall mentioned was the content of the Hogwarts acceptance letter.
The items are roughly: uniform, gloves, cloak, textbook, wand, crucible, small glass vials, telescope, and scales.
You can also bring an owl, a cat, or a toad.
Dali frowned as he went through the items on the shopping list one by one, not because there were too many things, but because there were too few.
Especially the items for Potions class, there are only three: a cauldron, medicine, and scales.
"Professor McGonagall, besides these things, is there anything else we can bring?"
McGonagall replied, "Of course you can, but I must remind you that it's best not to bring any Muggle-related items, as Hogwarts doesn't allow the use of those things."
It wasn't that Dudley wanted to bring anything else; it was just that the equipment was too rudimentary. In order to better brew potions, Dudley planned to bring the experimental equipment he had bought. Well, considering that Harry and Hermione would probably need it too, he decided to bring a few more sets.
"It's getting late." Professor McGonagall looked up at the sky. "I think we should divide the tasks. The adults can go with me to buy the cauldron, scales, books, and other school supplies, while the future little wizards can buy wands and uniforms that need to be custom-made."
No one objected to Professor McGonagall's arrangement, especially Mr. Granger and Vernon, who had already planned to have a drink at the Leaky Cauldron, the same pub they had visited earlier. They were very curious about the taste of the drinks in the wizarding world.
First, the uniforms and robes, which take the longest to make.
So the two little wizards and one real Muggle stepped into a place called the Lady Malkin's Robe Shop.
Lady Malkin was a short, plump witch with a friendly smile, dressed in purple.
"You're buying Hogwarts school uniforms, aren't you?" Madam Malkin asked politely after looking the three of them over. "Two sets for first year and one set for seventh year, right?"
Dudley grinned: "No, we're all first graders."
This answer clearly surprised Mrs. Malkin.
"Okay, sure."
He answered reflexively, his eyes involuntarily glancing at Dudley.
"Hogwarts is accepting more than 11-year-old wizards now?"
Besides the three people, there was also a little boy being measured by other witches in the shop. He was pale-faced and had striking platinum blonde hair.
Dudley and Hermione were discussing the robes with Madam Malkin, while Harry sat next to them, chatting idly.
The little boy's tone of voice always had a certain intonation, making Harry feel that he could never have a normal conversation with him.
Their conversation revolved around Hogwarts, but Harry's knowledge of Hogwarts was limited to knowing the name, so he was clueless about whatever questions the other person asked.
Whenever Harry received a reply he didn't know, the other person would respond with a long, drawn-out "Oh."
This made Harry feel extremely tormented.
However, the little boy thought he and Harry had a very pleasant conversation.
"Hey, look at that big oaf." The boy gestured with his chin toward Dudley as he approached, his tone ambiguous, whether praise or disdain, "He says he's a freshman and he's stronger than Crabbe and Goyle. I bet he can eat a lot too."
If the previous conversation only made Harry uncomfortable, then this sentence undoubtedly made him angry.
Even though Dali really can eat a lot.
Harry coldly replied, "That's my brother!"
"Really?" the boy said with a hint of mockery. In his memory, no child he knew well from the family looked like this. "Why is he here with you? Where are your parents?"
"They are dead."
Harry didn't want to continue talking to the boy, and only answered him out of politeness.
"Oh, I'm sorry," the boy continued, but there was no trace of apology in his words. He said meaningfully, "They're the same kind of people as us, right?"
"They are all wizards."
Hearing Harry's words, the mockery on the boy's face gradually faded, and he continued, "I don't think we should let those outcasts into school, like the ones next to your big, dumb brother."
Dudley and Harry were both dressed in pure black, similar to the attire of the wizarding world, while Hermione was clearly dressed in Muggle clothing.
For boys, the Muggle world is naturally different.
Before he could finish speaking, Harry's expression changed drastically, and it was too late to stop him.
A shadow blocked the light above the boy's head. Before he could react, he felt a large hand press down on his head, and his head was slowly turned around. When he looked up, he saw a large, expressionless face right in front of him, staring straight at him.
At that moment, he felt as if he were being targeted by some ferocious beast, and a chilling sensation shot from his tailbone straight to the top of his head.
Dudley slowly grinned, revealing two rows of deep white teeth. The boy could even feel the hot breath coming from Dudley's nostrils, and felt that his little head might be bitten off at any moment.
"Hello, it's nice to meet you!"
