Chapter 286, Section 284: Give them a Hogwarts-style shock.
The day for the first match of the Triwizard Tournament arrived quickly.
The young wizards at Hogwarts all wore excited smiles. The long-awaited competition was finally about to begin. Which school's warrior would take the second place?
Hmm? You're asking why it's second?
The first place undoubtedly belongs to Mr. Dursley, but the second place depends on whether Mr. Potter puts on a show.
Regarding why Harry participated in the Triwizard Tournament, the young wizards had many different opinions. Some said that Harry was finally showing his true colors, others said that he suddenly had the urge to try it out, and still others said that he was framed. In short, there were all sorts of speculations.
Harry himself vehemently denied casting the vote; he claimed that no one else had done so. However, apart from a small group of conspiracy theorists who believed him, no one else did.
As noon approached, the four warriors from the three schools, led by staff from the Ministry of Magic, arrived at a large tent.
They will draw lots here to determine who will play the first match.
Fleur's face was pale, and she looked sickly, while Viktor paced back and forth inside the tent with a gloomy expression. Anyone who knew they were about to face a dragon would be so nervous.
Even if there were magical dragon-slaying warriors, they would be extremely rare.
Bagman stood between the two warriors, dressed like a cartoon character in his old Hornets jersey.
"Hurry up and come over, we're just waiting for you guys."
Upon seeing Dudley and Harry, Bagman appeared very happy and excitedly explained the order of the draw to the two of them.
He doesn't have to play, and there's a good show to watch later.
Bagman held up a linen bag: "In a moment, you'll pick out a model of the thing you're about to face from this bag! Hmm... I think you all know what you're going to face, so I won't go into details. Oh, and your task is to collect the golden eggs!"
Upon hearing Bagman's words, Fleur's face paled even more, completely losing her previous arrogant and mocking expression. Victor, on the other hand, fared slightly better; his expression didn't change much, but his pace quickened considerably.
Soon after, a series of noises arose outside the tent as the spectators of the competition entered.
Although the Triwizard Tournament is held at Hogwarts, the audience is not limited to Hogwarts students; wizards from all over Europe are welcome to watch, provided they pay an admission fee.
The fees are collected by the organizer, the English Ministry of Magic, and are said to be quite expensive.
This is one of the reasons why the Triwizard Tournament was reinstated and why the prize money is as high as 1000 Galleons.
You can make money that way.
"Warriors!" Bagman, seeing that it was almost time, raised the bag again and asked the group, "Who wants to draw lots first?"
His eyes darted around and fixed their gaze on the only female warrior, Furong, whose face was already deathly pale.
"I think, I should."
Before he could finish speaking, a strong arm pressed down on his wrist and gently pulled the bag away.
"Mr. Bagman," Dudley's voice held an unquestionable tone, "may I be the first to draw lots?"
Before, when facing Dudley, he didn't feel anything, but now that he looked up and could see Dudley's face, Bagman felt a kind of biological instinctive fear under such close gaze, and his heart fluttered for no reason.
"Yes, it's possible."
These words just slipped out.
"Thanks."
As Dudley withdrew his gaze, the terrible feeling that had been gripping Bagman's heart immediately vanished, which made him secretly breathe a sigh of relief.
She dared not look directly at Dudley anymore, and secretly glanced at him out of the corner of her eye.
Aside from his ridiculously strong physique, there's nothing particularly special about him.
Although he was not as strong as his opponent, he was still a former Quidditch star player and an adult wizard. Why was he so afraid of an underage wizard?
Bagman couldn't understand it, but he didn't want to experience that feeling again, so he silently labeled Dudley as someone not to be trifled with.
There's no fixed order for drawing lots; it doesn't matter who draws first.
As Dali reached into the bag and pulled his hand back, the sharp-eyed Bagman spotted a glimpse of green between his fingers.
What a lucky guy! He's the Green Dragon of Wales. He's the most docile of the four dragons, and he doesn't like to cause trouble. He'll even avoid humans.
"Bad luck?"
Before Bagman could finish speaking, he saw a patch of crimson blood peeking out from between Dali's fingers.
"Chinese Fireball Dragon?"
"Did he catch two?"
Bagman's brain couldn't process it all at once, and then he saw a third color—silver blue.
"Swedish short-nosed dinosaur? Not two, but three?"
When Dudley spread his hands in front of him, Bagman could no longer sit still.
Not three, but four.
In Dudley's palm lay a small black dragon model, the most ferocious and temperamental Hungarian wood bee.
Bagman was dumbfounded.
What does that mean?
"You and me... hiss."
Bagman couldn't utter a complete sentence for a long time, and accidentally bit his own flesh, causing his cheek to twitch in pain.
The unusual sight caught the attention of Fleur and Viktor, and they were clearly stunned when they saw the four dragons in Dudley's palm.
Four dragons? What does that mean?
Only Harry remained unfazed; well, that's something Dudley would do.
"Mr. Bagman, I think you should get ready. I can wait ten minutes before I take the challenge."
"But there are four of them."
"Can't I challenge four dragons at once?"
Bagman dared not look Dudley in the eye, while the latter merely glanced at him indifferently.
"Mr. Bagman, I don't think the rules of the competition state that you can't grab multiple models, nor do they say you can't challenge four dragons."
It's not that you can't, but if you challenge four dragons at once, what about the others?
Hmm, letting them draw lots again isn't out of the question.
No, that's not the point!
Bagman's mind was buzzing; this was the first time he had ever encountered such a situation.
While others would avoid dragons like the plague, he dared to challenge four at once.
He's just a minor wizard, has he gone mad? Does he have a death wish?
"Mr. Dursley, this..." Bagman took a few deep breaths, trying to calm himself down.
"I think I should report this to the other judges."
"certainly."
Dali nodded, as if inviting him to go.
Watching Bagman lift the tent flap and leave, Dali smiled silently.
Let's give the other two schools a Hogwarts-like shock.
