Chapter 17. The Mysterious Disappearance of Glass in the Reptile House (Please follow during the new book period)

Around midnight, Dali returned to No. 4 Privet Road.

"Oh my god, my darling, why are you only just getting back? We need to hurry." Penny immediately told Dudley to change his clothes as soon as she saw him.

They rushed out the door, got into Vernon's newly bought car, and the family of four hurried towards the zoo.

The Dursleys lived quite a distance from the zoo; it would take at least an hour and a half to drive there.

Harry was very excited along the way. He was really looking forward to going to the zoo. The last time he went out to play was around this time last year.

Because of the bright sunshine and the weekend, the zoo was unexpectedly crowded, with families everywhere.

The entrance was especially crowded; you couldn't see any animals before you saw a bunch of two-legged creatures.

After entering the park, Vernon bought each of them an ice cream. Dudley was the most expensive chocolate flavor, and Harry was the cheapest lemon flavor.

Dudley swapped his ice cream for Harry's, saying he didn't want chocolate.

Actually, Dali's favorite flavor is chocolate.

Penny opened her mouth but didn't stop them. She even stopped her husband, and finally shook her head helplessly as she watched the two of them with their arms around each other.

She looks so much like Lily when she was a child.

Even the closest sisters can eventually become familiar strangers.

Their paths were always different.

The aviary was supposed to have peacocks today, but after waiting for ages, we didn't see a single peacock feather. Instead, we spotted a white owl hiding among the leaves, looking rather dull and fast asleep.

"Look at it, it's so dull, it looks kind of silly," Harry said, pointing at the owl.

Owls are nocturnal carnivores, considered small birds of prey, and are generally nocturnal. Normal owls sleep during the day, so it's unclear what's different about the wizards' owls, that they sleep at night.

Dudley suddenly had a thought and asked, "Does Harry want to keep an owl as a pet someday?"

"What a joke." Harry shook his head like a rattle-drum. "I'd rather have a carrier pigeon."

Inside the mammal enclosure, the lions and tigers weren't very interesting. They were all plump and lying on the spot yawning, too lazy to even move. Dali estimated that if he slid in, he could kick them away like footballs.

No pandas, no pandas, no pandas—I'll emphasize this three times: there isn't a single giant panda in the park, which is a bit of a disappointment for Dali.

This sense of loss continued until Dudley watched a gorilla scratching its head through the glass. The gorilla mistook Dudley for one of its own and kept gesturing to Dudley from the other side of the glass, seemingly asking, "How the hell did you get out? Come help me!"

In terms of physique, Dudley looks even more robust than the average gorilla, and with his solid muscles, he does indeed resemble a gorilla to some extent.

Seeing Dudley's comical gestures towards the other, Harry giggled so hard he almost fell over.

Dudley's birthday was always Harry's happiest day, even happier than his own birthday. After all, only Dudley remembered his birthday, and he only received gifts from Dudley.

Because they hadn't eaten lunch, Vernon was starving, so the group grabbed something to eat in the park. Vernon ate a hot dog and a soda, Petunia had some fries, and Dudley and Harry both ate hamburgers.

Next up is the reptile exhibit, which is cold and dark, and contains a variety of reptiles.

Dudley clearly sensed that Harry was more interested in snakes than lizards. He leaned over the glass of the largest brown python in the enclosure and whispered to the snake inside, "Hey, buddy."

To outsiders, it looked like children talking to themselves, but Dudley knew they were having a real conversation.

Young Harry was not fully aware of his extraordinary abilities and believed that many people possessed them.

However, this is a unique ability that Harry possesses.

The pleasant system notification sounded in Dali's ears.

"A good reward." Dudley whistled and smiled with satisfaction.

This is why Dudley insisted on making time to come to the zoo; it wasn't just because Harry still had a mission to complete.

Moreover, this is a rare and precious reward, which Dudley has only received twice before, the last time being the LV5 ability called "Iron Mountain Lean".

Fantastic Beasts, as the name suggests, Dudley believes is a collective term for the animals of the magical world, meaning he can now communicate with magical creatures.

At that moment, a loud scream rang out from inside the museum. It turned out that the glass in front of the giant python had disappeared, and the python quickly stretched out its coiled body, twisted its body, and slowly crawled out of the cabinet, sliding onto the floor.

At that moment, screams and curses rang out simultaneously. People inside the enclosure turned and ran away, afraid of being caught if they were too slow. The entire reptile enclosure was in chaos.

As the python slithered past Harry, it paused noticeably, turned its head, and surprisingly nodded at Harry in a human-like manner, sticking out its forked tongue and hissing.

It seemed to be saying goodbye to Harry, as if it weren't a snake, but a person.

Before other staff members arrived, she quickly twisted her body and passed through the crowd, disappearing into the museum, a stark contrast to her previous lazy and motionless state lying in the cabinet.

In the end, it's unclear whether the park staff caught the giant python. However, not long after, a man claiming to be the park's manager came over and apologized to everyone.

Dudley's birthday was spent in such a thrilling but ultimately safe environment.
